Son of an ITCH. I forgot a whole freaking attack. When I started bombarding the north part of his base with guardians, he assualted my mineral-natural and my natural. I attack-moved the hydras I had in my base, and he ended up razing my natural and mineral-natural, losing all his goons. The lone sunken on the cliff was instrumental as a delaying factor, insuring victory by my hydras, due to the choke.

Oh, yeah, and the hydras burrowed by his base (in between the temple walls) were still there at the end of the game =).

#2 MikeyMonty (spider-tm044.proxy.aol.com)[13618]
Wow. That was a really enjoyable report. And yeah, he sounded like a Korean learning Protoss, I have had Koreans hit me with the turtle-tech-to arbiter before, its much more deadly on islands becuase its more difficult for the opponent to simply go and take the map like you did.
#3 Cashew-of-Doom (sktnsk01d05130144.sk.sympatico.ca)[13619]
Great report Prae, as always. Heh, that must've been really odd to be playing sc and then have an earthquake.. Never been in an earthquake myself, I think it would be impossible in saskatchewan ( The +- of the altitude is about 2 km, at max ) Really.. Really.. Really flat.
Great br.
#4 Amiral_Trawn (modemcable121.3-200-24.hull.mc.videotron.net)[13621]
This is cool, I have just been inform of the 7.0 eartquake on the ritcher scale in California. It seem that he made a lot of damage.
Nice Report too.

#5 patheto (proxy.tct.net)[13626]
I heard of the quake too. But it must have shaken your brain up a little, as you one "morphed 6 mutas into goons". Wow! I wanna see THAT!

Anyway, BEST BR you've ever done. Honestly, I think that this was inferior to none, not even YRM.

#6 Fractal_Wave (24.64.215.34.bc.wave.home.com)[13629]
My "humble scribe" has reminded my of how the Zerg race is meant to be played. Parasites, burrow and broodling oh my!

But where was the darkswarm and plague?
;)

Great report.

All the best,
Fractal_Wave

#7 Whoop (pool0124.cvx12-bradley.dialup.earthlink.net)[13630]
That damn earthquake scared the beegeezus outta me. I've been in many quakes (that happens when u like near a fault line) and normally they are nothing. This one was preetty damn strong considering you felt in Sandiego and I felt it. DOh I just heard it was in Barstow which is close to my parents house! OK gotta go use the phone now :)
#8 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13638]
All that gas for defilers was going directly into guardians Fractal =). I morph about 24 just in the last ten minutes of the game.

Patheto, heh, good point. Rereading some of my old reports, I have typos like that all over the place. In some cases, I have cannons destroying an opponent's base when I am Zerg (should be zerglings, how do I confuse cannons with zerglings?).

I just finished watching some of CNN Headline News. The earthquake was their top story. Apparently, the quake was actually kind of east, in the hinterland of California, so it was actually about as far from San Diego as from Los Angeles. I don't know how the Geography is though, so LA people may have felt it more strongly than I.

#9 Lemuroo (nor-90-60.Reshall.Berkeley.EDU)[13641]
Bay area has a 70% chance of a major earthquake in the next 30 years =

erk

oakland is experiencing the same weather conditions as it did back during the great oakland fires.

eep

freaking california

#10 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13642]
Sacramento uh... had a flood... like once or twice.

Hehe, I like my hometown. Flat and boring. Well, actually I miss the mountains from when I lived in Utah. But they're earthquake prone there as well. Can't have everthing.
#11 [5th]Krebster (spider-tm012.proxy.aol.com)[13643]
A few days ago there was a small earthquake in my town (MA)
must be the plates be moving around.

#14 Laean (dtkim.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13653]
.Praetor, you are a UCSD student? I just started school here. Which college are you from? Maybe we can play sometime, even though I suck. But at least I'm not a newbie, and i don't play hunters. Oh yeah, good report by the way. I prefer the ultras + hydras + darkswarm over the zerg air though.
#15 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13656]
Very cool Laean. Make sure to get out and meet people =). I'm from Eleanor Roosevelt College, though that doesn't really mean anything. I'm living in I-house, which is in the Pepper Canyon Apartments. My ICQ is 20621299.

Here's a tip for you. H&SS (Muir college) is an awesome place. Look in the stairwells.
#16 Laean (dtkim.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13658]
I'm from Revelle. I don't have ICQ, even though all my friends tell me to get it. But i'd like to play a game with you, so you can give me tips after you own me. haha. Later. Oh by the way, those Phoenix Legion stories are awesome.
#17 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13662]
I lived in Argo last year =).
#18 Laean (dtkim.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13668]
I live in Atlantis. Around what time do you go to channel nohunters?
#19 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13675]
I never have a basic time.
#20 Laean (dtkim.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13691]
How are we going to play then?
#21 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13704]
Good question, email me at thefirstpartofmyipaddress@ucsd.edu

Uh... anyone else can still comment. I wonder what rating this report will eventually get.
#22 SnowSquall (a11a211.neo.rr.com)[13792]
The fact that you managed to win in spite of an earthquake elevates this report to at least a 10. Maybe 11. ;)

Nice job. What I'm really enjoying about zerg is being able to throw away vast quantities of units, and not even have to feel guilty about it -- instead left to wonder why I still can't spend all the money I have!

I love all text BR's. Especially long and extremely well written ones like these, where I feel like I'm inside your head knowing exactly what you're thinking and planning.
#23 SnowSquall (a11a211.neo.rr.com)[13793]
Lemuroo.. I know you're new to California so a brief climatological lesson: September and October are the warmest and driest months for coastal CA. October in particular has a lot of warm and sunny days as opposed to in June or July where it's just freakin cold with that biting seabreeze. So I never understood that saying when they said they were having the same weather as they had during the fires, or this earthquake or whatever.. happens almost every year. >:)

Sorry, the meteorologist just had to speaketh!
#24 kent2 (138.129.113.195)[13830]
Nice report. 8+, at least. Pictures, who needs pictures?

Like Snowsquall, when I play zerg I just love throwing my beasties away. At some point on a land map, against everyone but hard-core turtlers, all I do is get enough hatcheries, make 84-96 cracklings (7-8 control groups), and go. 1-a-click, 2-a-click, 3-a-click.... Talk about micro. :-) The first 3-4 groups of cracklings die, the rest clean up and waste the other guy's base in no time flat. OK, it's pathetic, but more often than not it works. (I usually do add queens with ensnare & broodling to help out; I'd add defilers too but they're too slow to get there in time.)

For some reason, when I play terran I try to preserve every tank, every goliath, every battlecruiser. I'm starting to learn how to macro like a whore with protoss, but for the life of me I can't do it with Terran. Is this just me?
#25 Ioti (205.168.7.27)[13831]
Everybody has a problem with SOME aspect of the game... for me, it's my mid to late game macro, especially with expanding. For some dumb reason I keep treating the game like the campaigns, where you only expand when you run out of money at your main. (Which is freaking gay, BTW) I've been able to alleviate the problem SOMEWHAT... but I still have trouble... :-/

BTW, who here thinks that's its worth it to build 3 forges to have all your shit upgrading at the same time? Or do you think it's a waste?
#26 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13836]
Thanks SnowSquall, Kent. (Meteorologist, should have known).

loti, there's two ways to look at it. 1) It's expensive to be upgrading all three at the same time.
2)It's not the forges that are expensive. 150 is just a cannon or one and a half zealot's difference.
#27 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13837]
Oh yeah, and nice to see the durn thing finally got rated. Geez, I swear I was the only rater on duty for a few days.
=)
#28 SnowSquall (a11a211.neo.rr.com)[13867]
Kent2: I think part of the reason we (I do this too) protect our units so carefully as terran is because they're repairable to full health. Cavaet: This doesn't apply for marines to me, which I toss away like rolls of Pez(tm).

Terran is also the hardest to macro for me because you need the most buildings. The heavy heavy metal strat advocates 6 factories, at least. If you're going air, you might have 4-5 starports sitting around as well. Lets not forget the 8-10 barracks you might even have as backup for marines should the situation dictate a change. Zerg gets the benefit of centralized production, and Protoss units are generally more expensive, so there's not as many unit-producing facilities.

At least that's my humble take.
#29 Raistloaf (gw.gjensidige.no)[13868]
Well played. I think some of the coolest games are those when someone is turtling.

Dont forget them lurkers :)
#30 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13882]
People actually repair Golaiths? Reguarly?

Geez. Another reason to never enlist in my forces =). I rarely repair anything other than a battlecruiser. That is, unless I think the unit will be crucial. E.g. Valkyries on Dire versus a corsair fiend.

What? You're missing a few armour plates? Do you realize the work I have to do to get those replaced? I'd have to CLICK on and SCV, CLICK on you, and queue an order for the SCV to go back to mining. Way too much work, my friend.

hehe.
#31 YourRoleModel (relay.atinc.com)[13883]
This report made the scoll thingie smaller than my FFA reports... and those are 10 pages with large pictures. It took me a while to read this whole thing, and it was worth every minute. Great job. Not many people could do a report this long and still keep the interest level high.
#32 .Praetor (fjwilson.reshall.ucsd.edu)[13886]
Really YRM? Well it took me about two and a half hours, working straight through. Continous typing, because if it isn't interesting to me...

That's about as much work as I put into a PL:C chapter. And, obviously, those aren't reviewed before I post them.

I put more work into Phoenix Legion (main) chapters though. Those take upwards of ten hours a piece.

Two and a half hours of typing? That's all. My latest report took like 7 hours. (&$#
