hehe, yea yea i was being immature, but hey, this is better then actually doing work right now :)
my boss will kill me, if he sees how producitive i am everyday.
anyways, that game looked to me like a very GG, what with all the battles and counters.
The images really matched what u said in the BR, and I liked the fact that the focus of the br was mostly on the battles, all in all a good BR.

| Wow, this was really EXCELLENT writing. It reminded me of HeartCutter's style. Great report man! And it doesn't hurt that you beat on a protoss with terran. =] |

I was saying the same thing while I read it "This must be heartcutter" =].
Well, until I got to the "by the moon" part which was way too cheesy for heart to ever use.
I'm not too sure hard wraiths are the right answer in this situation, but fighting a carrier whore they have thier place. |

| Just curious do you like to use lockdown with Terran against carriers? |
| #9 =Sojourn= (slip-32-100-59-97.tx.us.prserv.net)[15049] |

Not if I dont need it. Too much micro and wraiths will do just fine... as long as you see the carriers coming in time. Good recon will let you know if hes going carrier or not and if youre doing your job of not letting him expand wildly then he wont be able to mass carriers effectively against you. And when he brings the carriers with templar support, bring out your science vessels.
=Sojourn=
P.S. Im gonna ignore Mark4 unless I find him on BNET. Then Im gonna challenge him. (You reading this, MarK?) |

Maybe =Sojourn= is Heartcutter, but he switched to my ISP, and little things like the "moon" comment are happening to him. Tee hee hee *cough cough* tee hee hee... er...
Sojourn, you should have floated your tanks up and just kicked the crap out of the Carriers!

| REALLY good br. And you are right. most toss ARE pretty predictable. there are four common strats, which are easily discernible through scouting:templar, zealogoons, drop of some kind, carrier whore. And most ppl just use temp or carriers. |

I have to agree with Mark in that this BR was kicking serious ass right up to the point where you said "by the moon". Maybe it would have been better to say..."By the malt liquor" or "By the power of Greyskull"
Still though this was really well written. Its too bad it wasnt a better game. I look foward to more reports from you.

My boss knows I do %^&! all during the day, and thank god for br.com
I once defeated toss with tanks alone by the way. I know it's kind of cheesy but I made 3 factories at my expansion and produced about 20 tanks. This took so long that my enemy was razing my main with zealots and carriers and dragoons at the same time I sent all 20 tanks up his ramp and into his base. Despite 2 carriers and some cannons and zealots there, the base was razed in mere seconds. 20 tanks firing at once is a sight to behold. And no, it was not bgh.
It was pretty funny too because the puny interceptors were grazing the tanks, taking down one every 10 seconds, while my destruction was like 3 nukes landing at once.
Which brings me to a lesson learned: In a race to raze each others base, always bet on terran seige winning. |
| #19 Johnny_Vegas (staff-8.ahnet.net)[15069] |
|
I'll bet on Cracklings before siege tanks anyday!
One thing.. why did you bother sieging the tanks? You would have killed the base faster in tank mode, cause you wouldnt have to siege/unsiege and the damage output is the same anyway. |
| #20 VRAM1974 (depth.martinet.com)[15070] |
|
| Are you serious? The damage is the same?! Man, the stuff you learn even after playing the game for almost 2 years. There's so much junk I never bothered to learn because I never used it. For instance, what is maelstrom and what is it good for? |
| #21 Ander Kryst (edjproxy1.edwardjones.com)[15071] |
|
If I remember, an upgraded tank does 35 damage in normal mode, 70 seiged. I think they get a +5 damage per upgrade. If a tank fires 2 shots per 1 seige fire...
70 vs 70 (0 attack)
80 vs 75 (1 attack)
90 vs 80 (2 attack)
100 vs 85 (3 attack)
Maelstrom is the protoss answer to ensnare...except it only works against organic units, and seems to not last long. |
| #22 MikeyMonty (spider-tp011.proxy.aol.com)[15073] |
|
| Maelstrom is great against Zerg air though, it keeps it from moving totally while you storm the crap out of it. |
| #23 Puedlfor (wwwcache-01-e3b.jump.net)[15074] |
|
First off, it was a rellay good report, the pictures at the bottom were really unneccessary due to the excellen writing. Good job.
Secondly, Siege Tanks do 30 damage in normal mode, 70 in siege mode. plus the upgrade adds +3 to normal mode attack and +5 to siege mode.
Plus I think a tank fires 1.8 shots in normal mode in the same amount of time it takes a tank to fire in siege, but Ive been wrong before.

|
First, great report.
Second, Mark4: What would you have done instead of wraiths? Goliaths? Ghosts? I often have this dilemma myself.
Third, yes the 30/70 for tanks is correct. The reason unsieged tanks rock is that they don't overkill buildings as much. If you have 20 sieged tanks, they might all decide to fire on the single Nexus with 1 hit point left, then they'll all have to wait their super huge cooldown before firing again. Better to use unsieged tanks that fire twice as fast and do roughly half the damage so you get more efficient building destruction. Or to put it another way, if a siege shell costs twice as much as a normal tank shell and does twice the damage, I'd always choose the tank shells if I were trying to conserve money. Make sense :-) ?
