What right did we have to take the indian's land?

What right did they have to keep it? Ownership of something you can't fully use and don't have the means to defend is a precarious thing...

Umm... you forgot the mention why the pilgrims were in what will become America in the first place - religious persecution from their contemporaries in Europe (God worship imbalance?) =p

hehe, this probably could have been a lot more amusing battlereport if i had tried to tie in some of the normal SC battlereport talk into it.

but i was lazy, and have 20 pages of essays to write, so i didn't.

gobble gobble

seems like the indians were doing fine and would have continued to prosper "living with the land" were it not for the more "civilized" europeans to take it from them.

Mark4 the world wasn't made for man to destroy while the indians werent using most of the land they also weren't harming it in anyway.

What does "can't defend" mean? What did they have to defend against other than us? That makes no sense.

Bah im tired and rambling

#7 Armpit (207.168.1.130)[19486]
Never help those with the means to destroy you..hehe should have been #1 Lesson Learned.

#4 LL-I agree with Mark4, if you can't hold on to something then u don't own it and should not claim it.

Mark4 and Armpit are so american :P

Kreb, can't defend is self explanatory. Look at history for a comprehensive example of "can't defend". =]

I'm not saying it's right or morally justifiable. I'm just saying that the imperialistic culture of europe at the time was in direct conflict with pretty much every other civilization they ran across.

I was thinking yesterday about the Indians. When we came over here to America and found these Indians running around like chickens with their heads cut off, screaming gibberish and smoking dope, we decided to let them live in peace. Until they pushed us too far. When we said we wanted their land, they said no. How selfish is that. They wouldn’t even share. So we had to punish them, of course. We took out all the Incans. But they still didn’t learn their lesson. When we finally got a government together, we told em that this was their last chance, move it or lose it. You’d assume that, being humans of moderate intellect, they’d move, but no. This be our land, they said. Well well, Mr. Indian, we’ll see whos laughing in a few years. After some fighting we finally got all the Cherokees together and we offered them some desert land. We knew they liked to eat cactuses and such, so I think this was a very generous offer. But when we gave them wagons to use, they said no and decided to walk. This was called the Trail of Tears because the Indians were so good at telling dirty jokes they cried with laughter all the way there. Some even died from it. Anyway, to get to the point, I think those stupid Indians should have got up and gone when we first came here. We’d probably be in much better shape as far as our government goes. All I have to say is, Way to go Indians, real good job of screwing up. J/k

Aren't you advocating a rather disturbing policy of might makes right Mr. Mark 4?

In which case any and all exploitations caused by our gov't and our culture is completely justifiable?

Bah, silly military men.

gobble.

#14 OrcishBrute (spider-wa071.proxy.aol.com)[19560]
What about the turkeys? Surely, they must have been sumthin like the Protoss. Obviously, being the most advanced being at the time the Turkeys must've controlled the whole war with their superior intellect and alien technology. I think we're eating fake turkeys, and we're all really being impregnated by tiny turkey spores.

I'm very bored. 1v1 NE1??? 1v1??

You know, in some cases, screw the Indians. I mean, hell they're half-dead from disease anyway, and some were downright savage.

But in most cases, the Europeans really killed something beautiful and good. Anyone who denies the advancement or power of the many Indians in the early days of white America is sadly mistaken. Historical case in point: the Iroqouis. They had a republican government which, in many ways, the US Constitution was based on. In addition, they were powerful enough to be major allies in the French and Indian war and the Revolutionary War (in both cases, I think they were allies of the 13 colonies). Not only that, but they were an agricultural people. They grew squash, beans, and corn. This civilized, advanced people, and many like them, are the victims of history. They didn't even get a reservation. And there are many more like them, some alive today, just a bit luckier.

Nice report Lem, and good luck to the Hopi, Anasazi, etc..

This was a human tragedy. The Native Americans really got the shaft from the colonists.

We stole their land. That's all there is to it. The term 'total bastards' is the perfect descriptor of white behavior during the 1800's and early 1900's. And we used all means necessary to achieve this end. 'God' and Manifest Destiny were the enablers that made us want all the land, from sea to shining sea.

I'm white, and this period in American history makes me sick.

They should have let the first Whites off the boat to starve. I know it's a very cold and extreme solution, but it would have been better off for them.

But they didn't, and I live here in my warm house in California (Ohlone land in particular), fat and happy in my free country. Don't get me wrong, I love my country. It just bothers me that in order to create it we had to annihilate almost all of it's original inhabitants.
