He commented while I was reading it! WTF! In the View Reports section, I looked at the number of comments: (0) After reading it, 1 comment already! Man, I must learn to comment before reading next time. Anyway, nice report. I do have a question though: If the wallin' blocked off the first Zealot, how did your first Vulture get through it?

Yup, thats what how its supposed to work, you lift the barrax after the vulture is done. Ive had the same experiece with wallins, rarely do I get the positions right.
One error. You mention putting up acadamy after using comstat once... either you made a mistake or you know somthing that I dont ;). |

Nice first BR, Fuzz :) It got me thinking...
Comsat and spider mines -- I like that. I usually don't get around to the academy when I go 2 facts, but I might try it. It may seem like DT overkill at first, but actually spider mines end up giving you breathing space so you can use up your comsat for its other purpose: recon! If you can afford it, getting the academy out along with your factory build allows you to fork to infantry a bit easier, as well as giving you the ability to see whether or not you should do so. The thing I miss most about terrans when I play other races is comsat; I can always pinpoint some spot on the map that I'd really like to have a good look at but can't without sacraficing too much stuff.
Watch out, however. Don't rely TOO much on what you see with any given scanner sweep. Toss players seem to love hiding templar and carrier tech in some remote corner of their base where you're not likely to scan. Zerg will stick greater spires in inconvenient locations while leaving the hydralisk den in plain view. The best way to get around this is to look at what he's built. If your brain tells you, "Wait a minute, with a cyber core and two gates, he should have built more dragoons/zealots than that...", he probably couldn't because he was teching over to something else. Same way with zerg. Pay attention to how many lurkers they've thrown at you; if there weren't very many, they're probably going for mutas/guardians. Or, on a rare occasion, defilers or ultralisks.

Very good br there (no worries about text.. Even though these people are now looking for full motion video of the entire match and hiring Will Smith to play the role as Freon, a good pure text post can still grab people well).
Imo, luck was involved. From what I heard, A toss early exping > HM. Also, tanks don't realy have to be sieged to be effective; it takes mid-large size numbers for the factory units to shine (good reason why a 2 gate, quick goon strike is effective). You held on, though, and...well.. rocked.
This may overblow your ego too much, but this post easily ended my day on a good note (it wasn't that bad, but). Gj, and Good night.

Yeah when scouting be aware how much stuff he ought to have. I fhe doesn't have that much then he's either crap, unlikely or is hiding it somewhere, common.
Having a wraith just to scout can be really worthwhile. If you don't know what to build get wraiths, not only do they scout nicely but counter 3 likely things.. Carriers, Reavers, Island Expansions. You'd only be screwed against mass goons, but there is no way your opponnent can hide that from you. |

Hehe.
Good job. Keep it up. I'm glad the strats helped.
It's always nice to know that there's another up and coming terran player.

I enjoyed this one.. don't worry about pictures. Well written BR's are always appreciated. I hope to see more!
I cannot agree more with the lesson of double-pronged attacks. For example, in a recent game, when I was protoss, I attacked an expansion while simultaneously pulling off a psi-raid on the main. Either attack would have failed horribly by itself, but with 2, I significantly raised my odds of having at least 1 inflict some damage. Cost-effective damage, that is.
Just watch out for those psi-raids as terran. I'm primarily a terran player myself, and there's nothing I fear more. |

| Sorry about the time inconsistencies and such, but I was reporting the game from memory and never thought I'd make a br out of it. Thanks for the comments - they're very encouraging. I'll be sure to post more (if I have any more interesting battles), and I'll see y'all on b.net. |

Not to sound harsh, i don't mean to.
But with what you said from your scoutings etc...
why didn't you just take him with bats and marines?
much quicker than tanks.. put 12 medics amonst them and you jsut got an unstoppable early attack...
and a lot more of them can fit on the ramps than anything else :) |

Why not bats and marines? Pretty simple explanation.
When I started the game, I decided to go Heavy Metal. I devoted so much resource to getting up the factories and the tanks that I really couldn't have switched gears. By the time I was committed to my strategy it was far too late in the game to switch gears. I only had one rax and only build three infantry units the entire game (the marines at my wallin), not to mention I hadn't even begun researching inf tech.
I made the choice to go HM and I stuck to it. There may've been better ways (in 99% of games, there are usually "better ways" somewhere along the line), but I picked the strategy that I thought was appropriate for the situation (remember - I was DT paranoid). And it worked.
Although I must agree....since he was going heavy goons, infantry probably would've been the better route (I'd be able to get plenty more of them than tanks) - but I did notice templar during one of my scanner runs, which would've considerably shortened my infantry life expectancy. |
