Well, not everyone is trained by the U.S. Army, Mark =). I'd assume most casual readers are only familiar with strategy and tactics. I also didn't do a great job explaining exactly what I meant. I should have dragged out my memoirs of General Guderian to get the explanation I read there, but I was lazy. And there's Shifty's answer. Not a relative, I just read a lot =).
I'm glad so many people liked it. This report took an obscene length of time to write (6 hours of heavy productivity). It turns out twice as long as an average Brigand chapter (10 hours or so of medium productivity). |

Damn Praetor, this is really good. I love FFAs and have played in quite a few, but there is a lot of stuff in this report that I had never really thought about. I will definitely put some of your writing into practice.
An excellent game too, although I'm not sure... did you ever tell us how long the game took to play?

This is a goddamn masterpiece. It surpasses almost every BR I have read with or without pictures for depth and stratigic illustration, as well as entertainment. Maybe I havent read enough of them, but this far surpasses many 9+ reports I have read.
One thing though. I wasnt sure exactly when you took your natural expands. Was it before White razed your army for the first time? Otherwise you would have been running on bank money for some time. |

The game took upwards from an hour and a half Drefsab. To put that into understandable terms, all of Lost Temple was mined out, excepting a few hundred at my natural and most of my mineral only natural.
Thanks Rupeo. I have to do something to make up for not being a graphics designer (YRM =). I started my natural just before my island was razed. It was not yet being fully mined. And JSH, good luck, I mix my 1v1 ladder with FFA ladder. Easier to just have one account =). |

| Great report, you really know how to analyze your game. I should learn to do that.. I bet it would make me into a much better player. Oh, and I'd just like to say I love FFAs. I never think I'm gonna win in them, and actually, I never do, but some of the fights get so damn colourful with so many players involved at once, I can never stay away. It would be cool to become an FFA master.. I think I'm gonna hafta start playing ladder FFAs. |

Brilliant, shining br!! Finally i got a little bit of an idea how to play the policies of FFA. So far I always got hammered because I pissed the wrong people off.
But I would advise against going under the pix-reporters. Reason: Unless they are really well done, pix interrupt the report and crash the suspense build-up that had you rubbing your nose on the screen to read the report(well, I'm talking praetor reports here, folks). And doing them well takes time. You could probably add on another 6 hours for fitting this report with good pictures. Meaning you post only half as many reports, meaning WE can read only half as many from the God of text. You can't do that to us(I should go into drama, shouldn't I?)

Well, two histories of Hannibal (also covering 1st Punic War and Pyhrric War, some studies on the campaigns of Ceasar. Memoirs of General Heinz Guderian. Art of War. 100 Unorthodox Strategies (Chinese orthodoxy military text). And, um, this and that. What a history major tends to pick up with general descriptions of the battle of Salamis, or the Russian campaigns of WWII. I pull a bit of strategy knowledge from RTS's and customizable card games as well (L5R in particular).
Asside from the discussion of operativ theory (Memoirs of Guderian), I didn't pull from any particular source for this report, I just made up what concepts I needed. Which brings me to Titan's point. The Tao is the way. Of course, you have millions of views on what, exactly, that way is. Inaction is probably someone's Tao doctrine. You can find ANY doctrine supported by Taoism, depending on how you define the term. Chinese religion is like that... |

Wow. That was amazing :). I'll never look at FFAs, heck STARCRAFT, heck REAL TIME STRATEGY GAMES the same way again :). And I agree with whoever said pix wouldn't fit this report. In my opinion, pix are good for a funny report - seeing someone pulling a crazy maneuver is quite a bit more interesting than talking about it. However, for in-depth reports (like this), text can really set up a flow that isn't accomplished with pix reports.

Not a fan of multiplayers yet, but there's still time to begin. As for the report, I'd swear that you had some kind of recorder rigged up to your box. I may never remember nuking the hell out of my oppns minutes after the fact, but recollecting every detail from such a protracted battle... damn.
