Think of it this way Drefsab, this report was not your best work, but was ten times better than any of my reports.<p> I played my first game of Starcraft (Brood War actually) in three months yesterday, and I won. This means my new account, <i>I_like_mittens</I> is up to a whopping 1-0-0. Maybe tomorrow I'll win again! Wow, that'd be my personal best!

Hmm, screenshots would have helped for this game, but I just didn't think about it while I was playing. I don't normally win terran vs toss games and I thought it was pretty cool that I was able to pull this one out of the hat. Anyways, I hope its a good read, even without the pictures.

| After reading this report,and many other reports where terran eat toss alive, I'm starting to go back on my thesis that toss>terran always. (not much of a thesis..but hey...im only 13 :p) I've seen how wraiths can eat up carriers with no observers to uncloak the tiny bastards. I've seen 2 bats and a med take out a conga line of zeals. And now, tanks eating up a whole base untouched. Damn..I shud work on my thesis' a little beter and attempt to prove them myself, not let experts do it for me (ap taktiks...i obsed a game of him eating every terran and toss player...unfortuneatly due to a recent comp. crash and my lack of saving my buetiful work...I lost it and will not pursue that BR..sorry ap and all the others that played that game. :p) |

Well, a lot of people are more willing to make battlereports of them beating a toss as terran rather then them beating a terran as toss, just because there's supposedly more skill involved in it.
back before when the average SC player was having big time problems with toss vs terran, it was rather dull to see a toss trampling over a terran in a battlereport.
so, ta-da! we have today, where most battlereports are terrans owning toss.
so, dont scratch your thesis yet :) |

| If you are gonna 6 marine rush, bring at least 3 or so SCVs. 3 SCVs would increase the durability of your attack force about 60%, as well as give you the ability to bunker behind his minerals, always a damn pain to get rid of if it completes. |

That makes sense, if I started all 3 scvs building bunkers then the zealots would have to choose what to kill. If they came after my marines I could run them around until the bunkers completed, if they went after my scvs and bunkers, I could take potshots at their probes...
What fun, must try :-)

One other question out of curiousity.. that could have cost you the game if he'd come back with just one reaver -- how many hit points did your factory have when you cancelled it the first time? It might have been ok to let it eat 2 or 3 scarabs while your marines got in position. Usually I don't cancel buildings until I'm absolutely sure I'll lose it and it is down to 200 hps or so.
Good read. Been doing a LOT of TvP lately. Seems like everytime I pick terran, they immediately go for toss. :) |

I think the main reason I cancelled the factory is because it had just started building. It couldn't have had more than 2 or 300 points yet. I suppose it might have survived but at the time, I wasn't sure if my 8 marines would be able to handle the reaver so I just went ahead and cancelled it. Good question though... I hadn't really thought about it but it might have saved me some trouble if I hadn't cancelled it.

| 6 Marines to kill the Reaver? I don't think stimming each one and sending him in individually is the best method. I probably would have sent all of them at him then grabbed one and moved him up to the Reaver's face (much like Reaver feeding with Hydras). The only problem is that if he were watching the battle, he could target the Marine cluster instead of the lone Marine, but that's not likely.<br><br>How would you guyz have handled the situation? |

It was an early game reaver drop Mark, I'm quite sure that he was watching the battle. When reavers are around, I like to keep most of my marines safely out of range.

P.S. to Mark...
If you think about it, losing 6 rines to 1 reaver isn't so bad.
6 rines = 300 minerals
1 reaver = 200 minerals, 100 gas
I am happy with that kind of exchange rate :-) |

| IT's gonna cost more than 200/100 to support a reaver, cuz they have to build scarabs, and they cost more, and he's bound to have a few stored up when he dies. (Unless he dies because he forgot to make scarabs =]) |

actually, i was observing the game...
6 marines < reaver, in fact, it wasn't even 6..
he had about 9 marines...the first shot off the reaver killed about 3, and the rest were pretty much dying...if the reaver wasn't a damaged one, i think he could have killed all of them...anyways, reaver wasn't upgraded to 10 scarabs anyways..(not like it matters alot)..
oh, yeah..and Dref actually left the game...hehe
after BigThreat lost his blimp to marines while he could have ran away and let the reaver do the job, he started to build pylons EVERYWHERE...
he had about 4 pylons, and a peon hidden PERFECTLY under some trees...hehe
Dref got pissed saying how he didn't want no stinking pylon search on a UMS and prompty left..(i don't think he was pissed much tho..he left with a :) )hehe
anyways, it was pretty much one sided game, and i thought the protoss could have had a winning "edge" if his reaver drop succeeded..anyways..

Nope, wasn't pissed. I killed his two bases. Game over, I win. No sense in wasting time searching for pylons when there will be no win or loss awarded to anyone. :-)
