Such is the way with long games... So hard to condense the order of events perfectly. Besides a moment's confusion, what'd ya think?

It sounded like an interesting game. If there were only screenshots to help us follow the action 8) Well read the HTML guide... And practice with PSP *if you dont have it get the trial version at www.jasc.com*. Hm... I think he might have misclicked on that consuming a queen.

Spellcasters increase the zerglings effectiveness 10 fold. Only if broodling costed a weeee bit less....They can storm 12 of my guys for 75 and I can kill 1 for 150?? No way. Should be able to broodling twice at least with the mana upgrade, temps can storm 3 times and queens broodling only once. The mass lings were tight!! Good report!!

You forgot to mention in your lessons learn that defilers own. Although I use them rarely (I random anyway) they are to great effect. Zerglings rip up Plagued Dragoons and Zealots with or without DarkSwarm.

And don't forget anti-air. That routine with 3 mutas killing a dozen wraiths is pretty standard fare for plague. I remember one game where I got attacked by eight mutalisks and had nothing to defend but a single defiler, a hydra den, my hive, and a few resources. I plagued the mutas, morphed three hydras, and killed all eight with no casualties. (Unfortunately, I was already losing too badly to compensate at that point.)
Aside from the horrific amount of damage it does, plague/ensnare are wonderful when you need detection and all your overlords are busy elsewhere. Plague or snare cloaked wraiths or dark templar, and not only do you see them, but they're easier to kill as well!
One thing I should note, however. Dark swarming a spire will NOT stop goons from killing it. Dark swarm offers no protection to buildings, only units. (Of course, if your opponent doesn't know this and micros his troops to fire on something else, that can be just as good...) |

One other thing I just thought of: plaguing M&Ms. Tired of medics healing troops faster than your forces can hurt them? I haven't tested this, but I'm fairly sure a plague will pretty much negate medics, since the damage it inflicts is ongoing rather than instantaneous. Then, since you've already got the defiler there, you can throw in a dark swarm or two, send in your cracklings, and watch those irritating Terrans die...

Concerning the plague of m&m's....i think medics can heal marines faster than the damage of the plague, but depending on the number of medics their mana is used-up rather quickly. Like you said, 'they pretty much negate medics'.

Swarm stops damage to buildings. Soso won a game by swarming 4 sunkens to stop a shitload of goons. :P

I asked Peon about the queen thing, and he said he did it cuz it had 30 mana and about 60 life. Since it's got no attack, it was basically lose the whole base or lose the useless queen. Both of them could be useful later...
Of course, his logical processes would allow the move even if he didn't take all that into account. ;)

yah, queens rock vs toss players with lots of templar. But what I found out, after a humiliating lost to Rekrul, is that you have to use shuttles with templar (he broodlinged all my templar prior to his attack, thus crushing me). To avoid the deadly broodling spell, either hide a templar in the shuttle, and drop it right under the shuttle, or hide it behind something (that something could be the shuttle). It can be next to impossible to target it, alowing you to kill the queens with dragoons. Also, reavers kick major ass against zerg, because they create exteremely high kill ratios, which is essential for fighting any zerg player
