GG - I got to watch the game live and let me tell you - it was tight - there was no way to predict who would win. The scores were neat too - Ahscar won but had less points. Ahscar, zerg, killed 750 units, and lost maybe 450 to terran. Completely screwy game.

Excellent game, very well reported, but in my opinion the grammar and spelling mistakes keep it from being 10 material. I'd forgive one or two errors, but this was excessive. I'd give it around 8-9. I did love watching the Zerg beat the Terran through superior micro.

I don't see what difference it makes what Lewis's first language is. I always thought the idea was to rate the BR, not the writer. If you're going to write a BR in English, then you're responsible for getting your English right. If I were writing a BR for a French-speaking site, I wouldn't expect a perfect rating if my French wasn't up to par (which it isn't).
Once more: I enjoyed this report, I just wish it had had a proofreader; and, since it didn't, I don't think it deserved a perfect 10. Just my 0.02 dollars.

After all, is it the reporter's fault he's an 8-year-old who doesn't know jack about Starcraft or writing? Shouldn't we make allowances when judging his work?
Lewis is obviously not an 8-year-old, and he certainly knows plenty about Starcraft and writing. But his English is far from flawless, and a 10 is supposed to be a flawless report in all respects. Ergo, this should not have been a 10.

I repeat: WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE THAT HE'S FRENCH? He's writing in English. If he's going to write in English, then we should judge his report by the quality of his English. I don't care if he himself is English or French or a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

I read every word of your post. Your post said that Lewis was French, and that the fact that people hadn't realized that meant that his grammar was better than that of many Americans.
My response was that I know Lewis is French, but I don't consider that a reason to lower the site's standards for him. Neither do I consider it relevant that a lot of native speakers speak English worse than he does. Just because lots of people do something badly doesn't make it any better.
If there is some part of your post that I have not responded to, please tell me what it is.

Seeing as it is a perjorative term i was trying to get you to change your attitude towards the lewis critics. It's sad in some respects, I mean a report should be read by the raters without even viewing the name of the person who's posted... but let's not beat a dead horse any longer, I've said my bit about the rating.

It was aimed to prevent your one and only defense for lewis's ridiculous rating. The reasons you were "flamed" as you put it should seem clear. I disagreed with what you said, and you seem to fail to read other people's reports. And I really took offense at your statement of "grammar dolts". For grammar, for reading purposes, is as important as actual content. A four grader could have a wide imagination, and incredibly memory, but I sincerely doubt he could convey his story to an adult. And have that adult thoroughly entertained. Now maybe you should back off a little?
