The eighth virtue: Proofreading.
Sorry, I neglected to take a good hard look at this in the Preview mode, which has caused the "How Not to Play Brood War I" followed as though it were one sentence, the one-line-at-end picture, and the overlapping pictures (okay, so that I knew about, but it looked a little better anyway). My apologies for interfering with your enjoyment. |

Some post-report conversation between Breeze and me:
Breeze: I think you didn't explain what happened to the DT in my base :)
Poeir: Blast, you're right. Oh, well, it's pretty obvious. If I'd taken a screenshot I would have remembered.
Breeze: You also didn't mention about the way I destroyed your base without getting up the ramp :(
Poeir: Sorry, at that point I was too busy trying to be somewhere else. :)
This is the challenge of first-person reports, trying to remember that something's happening while you're putting an end to it.
Breeze, I've (obviously) already posted this, so if there's anything you'd like to add to your previous two comments, go ahead here.

Hmmm, not enough meat in this report, too sketchy, and it seemed a little one-sided to me, though I'm never sad to see protoss lose...

this wasnt half bad, when ur probe gets stuck in his base, mine some minerals, therefore when he kills it, he loses 8 minerals. Dont knock this small edge, while stealing his minerals he'll prolly yell "THEIF" or something, or fall off his chair laughing, so you've taken a small pysch edge too.
Prolly gonna avg a 5.5 on this |

"Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I don't think this really deserves a ten. It reeks of the media-hypnotized pop culture that exists today.
Here's something for everyone to try: Cut-and-paste the entire report into Notepad. Read it that way. Still think it deserves a high rating?
The truth is there are a fair number of grammar mistakes, very little wit, and it is fairly difficult to follow the action from the writing only. Sure, the pictures help a bit... But they actually hinder at some points. While the 3-D renderings of the maps are neat (and visually pleasing), the second one and onwards are unclear. In fact, I had a hard time determining that the game was even played on The Lost Temple.
Furthermore, a fair number of the pictures are entirely gratuitous. Take, for example, the zergling battle. A single picture from there would have delivered the feel of the entire battle. Furthermore, the pictures of buildings being constructed are entirely useless.
Well, I've run out of things to say, but in general I feel the extra work performed (such as the 3D renderings and Java programming) were unwarranted, unnecessary, and the effort would probably better have been used in authoring. "

Don't worry, after Poeir commented this way on my BR, I contacted him on ICQ and I think most of his points are fair, I mean he just stated his opinion and beliefs. And not only that, he really helped me have a better text for game 2, that's why I respect him. :)
And BTW he created that report in 3-4 hours, while mine took 3 weeks, so he's quite effective... lazy Poeir!!! :P |

Yeah, well, this probably didn't deserve a five. :)
Oh, and Pitt, I've been around. You can ICQ me at 9211372 sometime.
Time to get cracking on the second of this series. |

I fixed the 3 pics at the bottom. I like seeing protoss getting crushed under an army of tanks. And respect goes to he who invented nohunters!!

One suggestion to add to the others here: Don't make comments like "such-and-such cost me the game" in the middle of the report. It takes away the suspense.
Decent report, though... I look forward to more.

Actually, the whole point of these reports are that I lost. That's a given right from the title "How Not to Play StarCraft." I figured it would be a nice digression from the "Here's How I Won" reports.
Look for the next sometime this month. Or don't. |
