This one deserves a big WOW. The writing was so descriptive and the myriad of details painted not a picture, but a whole damn flipbook of pictures. In accordance with Mr. Good, Bad, and Ugly, a change in the background color would be a very good thing to do, as well as the colors for the respective players. In my opinion, I don't think you need pictures, but if you ever decide to add them, PLEASE don't let that subtract from your writing! Once again, good job. I can't wait to read your next report.

Nice battle report, seemed to end really fast though.

Man, that was a crazy game. I held out just long enough on the super-pro and very effective (put me out of the game) tank push by [FLS] and Whoop to allow Curly to get his BC's accounted for.
Once my exp and main were gutted they seemed to leave me alone for a bit. I had only a few token pylons and an assimilator for a while. But when they realized I had a few observers still active and attached to those max upgraded BC's it seemed as though they figured to terminate me with haste =)
Really cool game, had two turbo newbies and a cannon newbie! hahaha, hehe, ha, heh, err.......game 2 was NOT much fun.
I am gonna wait on rating this as I am highly biased here =) But I agree with Sid6.9 on a lot of points, and yes Sid, I am sure the pics woulda suh-wheat!

I am gonna go against popular opinion here and say that, while the report was good, it needs work. First of all, text-only reports are a touchy thing. Done well, they rank among the best BR's made IMO. If you are going to BR with words only, then here are a few things to keep in mind:
1) Grammar must be flawless. Yes, it's gay to be complaining about a verb out of tense, or a lack of a comma, but in truth, this is what people see, the writing. With no pictures to draw attention, all the focus goes to not only what you've written, but how you've written it. It really is distracting when errors, no matter how small, occur. Take just five minutes and proofread your work, and/or have someone else proof it as well. This will eliminate 90% of the problem, at least.
2) Yes, the writing was dramatic, but in a way that has been done before. One of the funniest things about HC's reports (IMO) is the way he intersplices real reported action with humorous dramatic sequences to keep things fresh. Check out his "Flesh vs Metal" report if you haven't to see what I mean. Try to make the battles memorable not just by using the standard suite of "exciting" words, but by adding outside elements like humor, a small "skit" scene, a running commentary from you, the observer, etc. Of course, pics do this well too, but we're talking all text.
3) Being concise and effective in word choice is so important, it isn't funny. How many times have we read "..and the players set their workers about gathering resources while the commanders plotted their strategies..."? This statement is utterly worthless. It makes for a little window dressing, but it's not important to note unless someone is doing a four scv rush or something. Take a look at, say Mark4 or Drefsab or YRM or Fractal Wave's reports. Most of the time, they give a quick sentence explaining the BO's, and they get on with it, reporting only the most important stuff. You, as the battle reporter, must judiciously decide what to report and what not to report. Pick and choose carefully, as the longer a report is, the more this "rule" must take effect.

| I understand what your saying but I felt for this BR I should use a more serious approach. The game I felt was riviting and I thought a better use of dramatics should be involved. I enjoy HC's work and I feel I take from him on occasion. Peon Sanders is one of my favorite BR.com characters next to Evil Laser Eye Man and I hope to see more from HC. |

Awesome writing. You all all the details there, along with the flash and bang of big battles. However, that thing about peon racing at the beginning was more confusing than anything. Maybe it's just my sense of humor, but it just wasn't too funny to read. Also, while your writing is wonderful, it'll be extremely hard to score above a 7 if you don't use pics. A perfectly fine job can be done with paint, and I'm sure you can find some shareware editors somewhere on the net. I think because you just didn't have as much agnst and feeling in this one as you did last time, I'd be expecting a 6. But I'd be surprised if you got less than that.

Doing a serious approach is fine Monty. There are a number of battle reports that are quite serious and are still really good. The thing is, if you are going to be serious, then make sure the report is loaded with tactical insight, tips, tricks, and things you learned along the way. Take a look at some of Breeze's BRs of [o]Mr.X. They are quite excellent in that they constantly convey the deep thinking and tactical manuevers of the players.
And serious or not, grammar is key. Make sure to take that extra five minutes and check your stuff.

Nice report. Writing style almost felt like an old novel ;o(Colons =( ). No pics, but that doesnt present a problem since its descriptive(Hawk go to dictionary.com and look it up now!!Two-Syllables yo!). Theres one thing that would make it easier to follow:
