On one hand, SC 1.08 will enable me to attach a replay to all of my reports. The replays are MUCH MUCH smaller in size than the 1+ GB .avis created by Hypercam.
On the other hand, I'm not crazy about this new format. You are passing off in-game commentary as a battlereport. In my humble opinion, it is not a report in the purest sense of the form. You may as well just set up the replays alone for me, since I personally do not care about running commentary.

I personally recall an avi provided on Starcraft.org or sclegacy (I forget) which got a great amount of positive feedback simply because it had the voice overlay of an outside observer - inspiring me to do this. You may not enjoy commentary, others do. I don't have any idea how to rate these, but at least, John should have a chance to take a look at these and try to decide a fair place for stuff like this. For now, there's no harm in leaving these up.
Personally, I think stuff like this just proves why a replay will never be as interesting as a report, and should, at best accompany a well crafted report. Jack9 is certainly entitled to have a different opinion. |
