Oh yes, to those who said that the game quality wasn't so good, I don't care.
Think of it this way, if it was a serious report (by serious, I mean a report based on tactics and gameplay) then I wouldn't have understood it.
The emphasis wouldn't have been on fun, but rather on the game itself.
Even though I've never played this game, I enjoyed the report, because it centred on 1 guy (warped) and basically just told a good ol' yarn.
Much easier to understand a fun report about a topic I know nothing about, rather than a serious report.
Also, the fact that you used euphamisms to relate to StarCraft meant that some of the stupid moves were blatantly pointed out to everyone, rather than a select few.

LuckyNewbie: Just usin' Photoshop. All graphics were 100% a photoshop production. Yeah, I don't know why the raters routinely avoid my reports. They regularly give average to sub-average reports an '8' and then give my High-Q stuff a '6' or '7'. Go figure. I suppose it can hard to break out of the 'real time strategy' mindset of battlereporting. Perhaps they just don't 'get' TFC. Then again - they did give a battlereport on CHESS a 10. Maybe they do just hate me... :(

i have only scrolled through the report but let me tell you, you have some nice pics in there. i'm a cs player myself and have only played tfc twice. both times i just picked the pyro and jumped around a lot as i lit people on fire. it surprisingly works and i got a 3:1 ratio in score both games. *shrugs*
this must have been hard to report. did you record a demo then watch it over and over or something? gl with furture reports.

| Yeah - TFC is hard to report. Recording a demo could work for reporting, but I find it easier to have a second observer covering one flag, and me covering the other one. The gets most of the essential action. I have to winnow through them and amalgamate the results into a cogent flow of what really happened. The time recording of the pictures helps, but what would be REALLY nice is if I could get ahold of the server's server log. That would be perfect, but admins tend to be kind of tight with those... |

I know where the HW guy is, but I have no idea how he'd got up there. I've seen medics get blown up there by soliders aiming at there feet (a sniper got up there once) but never a HW guy.
Haven't played TFC in awhile. Anyone with a slap-stick defense can beat out most lone rangers like you said... and it's almost impossible to get any decent sized offense going. The best I've gotten so far was a 2-man team going.
Oh well, nifty report though :)

I think the demo would be helpfull only if you were going to do a first person BR. I think your concept works better for TFC, though.

A 30 minute demo would be a big chunk of space. Even then you only get to see the game from the perspective of the player making the demo – so you’d need at least 3 or 4 spectators. That’s hard to do even when the server has the free slots.
The new patch this month will have ‘Multicast Spectating’. This is supposed to allow thousands of spectators all at once. It also includes an option to view the map like it is a Real Time Strategy minimap where all you see are the players, flags, and the skeleton map. This sounds very cool to me.
I hope that SOMEWHERE in this new set of features is the ability to make a ‘recording’ of a match like Starcraft does. It would make my job easier if I could just get a .rep of a TFC match and watch it from whatever angle I choose. I somehow doubt that happen though. We shall see! Let’s hope Nafarias Sez! #4 will have a buttload of new stuff…

| Yeah - it is kind of odd. FAQ says that reports are 'usually' rated within 24 hours. There are reports that are pretty dang old that have never been rated though. Still, it is kind of odd that every other report (be it tripe or gold) has had a rating for the past 3 months. M'eh - that's OK I guess. We all know it is the best report on Battlereports.com. My personal rating - a 9. The report is 1st class, but the match could have been a bit better. |
