Your pictures are godly, but the writing is hard to follow (run ons, trying to combine three sentences into one), for example:
"Rage just simply repairs as his Marines fire at the Zealots while Inferno shortly after warps in a Cybernetics Core as well as gathering gas."
could be better written as
"The marines drive off inferno's raiding party with the help of scv repair. Inferno, deciding he needs more than zealots if he is to get in, buys himself a cybernetics core and takes his gas"
Other than that, this report kicked. I know its hard as hell reporting off of a replay. With older reports, you took a few screenshots and pieced together what happened cuz hey, nobody can say your wrong! Only tip i can give for this is dont droll over the details, and read your text over to yourself, you should be able to see where you improve. One more day of refining and this puppy would be cream of the crop. |

It's one of the few reports on this site where I REALLY like the graphical design, the game seems great, players are cool, and you do a great job describing all the action :D.
That blank space in the minimap image... I really don't trust it, did you take a ss of the exact spot on the map or are you just fooling us with some fake black image? ;P

This site is pretty stupid if you ask me (no offense to anyone in particular). The writing didn't have too many spelling errors, but the grammar was AWFUL! These sort of sentences, without the pictures, would get a 5. Because you have really cool graphic abilities, people are saying that it deserves a 10 or a 9! Pictures help, but they do not make the report! If I were to submit a zip file full of some screenshots with cool-looking (but totally unrelated to the game) effects, then by what I have witnessed here today, I should get a 10 for it!
No offense Erad, I would give this a 9 if the grammar didn't blow goats, but I'm using you as an example of how writing ability is worth only about 25% of your rating.

not my fault u have ms paint strega, and as long as u have a feel for the game I did my job. Obviously you didn't and thats my fault, but I'm not a very good writer. If anything I enjoy making the pictures more than the tedious writing itself, and at times the game got very confusing and I was forced to write more than I wanted.
That's what caused some of the run-ons and fragments,and most of the time I just simply told it how it was not using superb words. However I do enjoy describing the events, but I won't use superb words or grammar, because I've never been able to. Pictures and laying the report out is my main strength, but I'll work harder on the writing. But as long as 90% of my readers get a feel for the game I'll continue my style of reporting. |

You misunderstood me Erad, my "anger" was directed at the people who looked at the pretty pictures and thought "GG 9.5 huk huk" instantly.
Personally, I liked the report somewhat (6 or 7) but, if you had someone check your report for grammar errors, THEN I would agree that this deserves a 9.
You told the story, yes, but it was in a manner that would make an English teacher binge-drink.

The writing makes or breaks a report, and this report's writing just didn't cut it. If you know in advance that it's your weak spot, then have people proofread it for you before you publish. A reader should be able to keep in touch with the game without having to turn to the replay. Also, all the mid-sentence capitalization of units and stuff got distracting.
Pics were pretty enough although I don't see what the big fuss was. Design layout was very good (sleek) and not too cluttered. 7.5

Strega, if you do a nice job with the text I bet some of the raters might give you a better than 7 rating but almost no one except the few hardcore visitors will read/enjoy your report. For some that might be sad but it is true, and even if the raters give you five 10s people who get fooled by that will just say "crap, who gave this a 10 it's not interesting to read a battlereport that even doesn't have any pics".
I wish there was a hit counter for reports, people would see how wrong the whole "gamers want brilliant gems of literature" bullshit is. Just try to think who you are making those BRs for and why the site never was the REAL source for SC battlereports that it should have been. |

Nice pics, but I'm with Strega and Cattlebruiser on the writing. Lots of runons and glossed-over details. I lost track of the game frequently.
You should do it in reverse - write the report, then add pictures where they seem to naturally belong. That way the writing can support the report and the pics can just act as icing on the cake.
In this case, it was hard to follow the game because it sometimes felt too rushed - it was like being on a caffeine jag while reading. You need to take a deep breath, slow down, and write more of the detail in - clear it up so it's easier to follow.
And with replays, if you think you missed a detail that should be there, you can always go back and review the replay again. |

Breeze: I think you missed Strega's initial point, though. His complaint was that most of the people here were asking for high marks for the report not because they read it, but because they looked at the pretty pictures and liked what they saw.
I don't want a brilliant literary work, but I want something that makes sense and is at the least easy to read. And this report was missing a little bit of that, especially as the game went on.
I don't see much point to heavy-pic, poor-text BR's anymore. Why not just DL the replay and watch the pictures unfold in realtime animation? Now, look at Dag's BR's - heavy pic, but the text is easy to follow. Asking this report to be considered higher than 7 or so after reading that one is a stretch, but if the writing was better, it would deserve more. Which was Strega's point in the first place. |

i liked this BR quite a bit...but your one weakness was the body of your text. It seems like you tried to describe every single detail of the action without letting the imagination (or the pictures) explain it for you.
That takes a lot of patience and proofreading, which you probably could have used more of;(
Overall the writing was above average, but ultimately fell short..I'd give the writing a 6.5 and the rest (layout, pictures, introductions and conclusions a 9) ...so this BR is probably an 8, technically
But if I were rating, I would probably include something called "effort" and give it a 9...CB is sounding a bit too critical if you ask me |

Reports are about words, if I posted a bunch of nice looking pics, it wouldn't make since because there are no words.
Yet if I post a report that flows better than this without the pics, I would probably still only get a 5-6. Why? Raters, even though they might not want to admit it, give higher scores for well known writer/picture reports.
Pictures should only be judged if the text makes sense, in this case it was hard to understand. A good text repo that gets a 7 could get an 8 with pics, but a report like this would have gotten around a 5 without pics so about a 6 with pics would be appropriate. I know it takes time to make pictures, but its harder to make text that flows well and seem like it is competenly written. |

They're just screenshots with borders, not sex in a can. I think the rating is consistent with the other reports I've rated, and I stand by the 7.5. (And I _do_ admit my mistakes when I've rated a report too low...just look at ground's last report.)
It's not bad by any means -- 7 is still a gold. It was just...confused.

Hi, I love controversial comments sections and this was a wonderful read. It kinda takes me back to, well, my comments sections. Perhaps if this report had been released by, say, Drefsab it would have gotten a higher rating. But Drefsab knows how to write so I guess its not completely the same.
Anyway, enough sarcasm because I have to say, the design and layout of the report was very sleek and almost *cough* professional. You picked a consistent scheme and most of your pictures and minimaps were relevant, useful, and added to the report.

I was acting serious here dref, if I had gone out and said shit about my penis then people would have flamed me for trying to be funny and just trying to get a qoute. After all I'm not very funny, and I'm sure a lot of people can agree. Plus even if I had used phrases like those, (which I would have enjoyed doing, making the text seem less tedious) it wouldn't fit well with the theme. Although if you would have liked that, tell me.
