The reason I added extra money was because I don't like it when games are forced to end because everyones broke. However, I did make small bases and only one gas per base, so you were forced to spread. One thing that is great about SC, is that it is very universal, and can be played many different ways (1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3s, 4v4s, 2v2v2v2s, ffas, ladders, Used map Settings, money maps, shared bases, etc). As long as both sides are equal (so it shouldn't be a 7v1c or anything) I'm ok with a game. Perhaps you could beat say... Joe in a 1v1 Lost Temple game, but when you play Joe in BGH he kicks your ass. Is he a newbie for playing BGH? Well then why did he just kick your ass? Because it's almost like a whole different game, and he was better at that game. So what I'm saying is, just be a little more open-minded, and realize that all the best players don't play the Lost Temple. Oh by the way, if anyone thinks that I still suck, I'll be happy to 1v1 them. |

Agreed, SC is not all about playing Temple. There's excellent old ladder maps like Styx, there's tactical maps like Rivalry (ie flanking heaven), and I will always love Dire and Island Hop.
Thing is, it's not so much the map, it's how you played it. Yes, if me and my friend play and he gets mass cannons, I get mass bunkers and turrets, and both of us turtle, it can be a 10 hr epic. Especially on a money map. Will I post the replay based on its length? NO.

Part of what BR.com does is to help players learn various strats from other people's accomplishments or mistakes. Right now, altho you're getting flamed, you're also learning a lot about SC. Take your baptism in flame as a learning experience. I'll spell it out more friendily:
1) money in the bank does not win you points. You're supposed to keep yourself as close to 0/0 as possible at all times unless you're saving to expand.
2) terran metal units cannot be irradiated. Times when you want to irradiate your OWN terran units are: when tank is being attacked by lings, d-matrix and irrad ; irrad 2 sci vessels and fly over drones.
3) turtling with turrets/cannons does not win games. ppl like you probably think bcs/carriers are godly and if you turtle and get enough of them you'll win. They're easily countered with devourer/muta, defiler/hydra, dark archons, ghosts with lockdown..... the list goes on and on

Considering that you've been posting reports here and presumably reading other reports, you should have a decent idea of what a good sc game is. Go look at other stuff in the replays section. If you wanna play terran, have a look at Heartcutter's reports. If you wanna play toss search under Mark4 & AQD3.
Don't ever bitch about the atmosphere of this site, just because it doesn't cater to your newbieness. This site rocks and I learnt most of my SC from here. It has many reports on games between the world's best players. What else could you want? You're the one who needs a more open mind. |

nrkizt is absolutely correct. BRs and replays are posted so that other players can learn from the best. You are not the best, Koh, and about the only thing anyone can gather from that replay is how NOT to play SC. Also, considering the whole bandwidth issue, anything short of greatness should be kept to one's self.
I've noticed that this BR seems to be the "hot topic" right now. If I were you, Gojky, I'd be giving myself a pat on the back, just for creating so much controversy and what-not.

Koh, I must take back all I said about you. People around here just don't realize what a genius you are. Firstly, to take the effort to create your own map, and the creativity that went into making it unbalanced is simply unbelievable in this day and age where no one takes time to pay attention to their creative outlets.
I have also realized that this game was supposed to be a showcase of your phenomenal skill. Displaying the cockiness only top players do, you lifted off for an island which had less mineral patches and less space for buildings (and you're a terran). That's just to show you can defeat opponents with a low resource intake. And how 40 mins into the game you're still at 90/120 supply when other ppl are thinking about how to use their 200/200.... i bet the reason for that must have been to show off your excellent micro skills. Unfortunately the rest of the players in the game came nowhere near the skill level required.

Irradiating your own metal units is a stroke of genius too. It is a novel way of mocking your opponents, much in the same way ppl finish off someone with an 8-peon drop. Showing them how you don't need sci vessel spells to win.
I hope my comments above will help enlighten the rest of these poor fools, who have yet to see feel the orgasmic pleasure of playing on a money map, build more defence structures than units, and have the satisfaction of upgrading from 4 armories.

I'm forced to play money maps in 7v1 bses too. Even if they are newbs, its 1v6, so I'd say it takes a half decent player to beat them. I had a really big bs era, now it's just an occasional thing for me. Note that I only bs in 7v1, 6v2, anything else is just wrong.
