| Despite some minor spelling errors (whale instead of wail for one), I found the text to be easy to follow and mostly interesting to read. My slowass dialup couldn't load the pics fast enough, but what did load looked damn nice. I still can't tell what's going on in war3 pics, mostly because I don't know what the units look like, but you did a good job with them. |

Your background is 420 pixels wide, but you set the table width to 480. That's why you have the white bar.
Your writing was better than Furious's report (from what I can remember) but your report had some other problems. The picture backgrounds clashed/ended abruptly compared to your report background. To non-players who can't tell the units apart, the battles simply look like great, big crowds staring at each other. Finally, the game didn't seem all that great. There seemed to be several identical battles and then a massive air attack. Like a zerg (undead) making only ling/hydra vs a protoss (human) with zealots and archons (strengthwise). The protoss then builds a secret base and masses carriers which the zerg doesn't suspect.
Of course I don't know WCIII, so I might be totally wrong.

| #8: thanks for the insight, like i said at the beginning i was hoping that ppl knew the units and stuff, but you're right, it is a pain and in my next report I might include links to the unit pages when i first mention a unit, it just depends. The battles were really identical, and thus hard to describe, it's hard when people make the same units the whole game, i agree. all my programs tell me my settings are correct... i know for a fact the background is 480 pixels, cuz Photoshop says it is ;o, so i dont' know what the deal is... |

OK, I havent played WC3 yet, but is this like the SC equivilent of turtling against m&m and then owning with BCs from your unknown expo? And is it worth 50$ to go out and buy it? Anyway, it seemed like a nice report, and I got an idea of what the units could do. I loved the collages! ;]

| It is to a degree... kinda. Remember, how often does that happen in SC when people are good? It's probably more in WC due to the fact that 1) people aren't that skilled right now, seeing as how it just came out and 2) it's not balanced enuf like SC to where that really wouldn't be a viable strat. Please note that the Undead person could have changed his strat at anytime, but since people are new to the game they find something that works a majority of the time and just stick with it, the Human more or less got really lucky. And Hell yes, it is worth the money. You have no idea how fun it is until you play it, trust me. |

One major fault of WCIII is that killing units are not quite as gratifying as SC. In SC, after a unit is killed, there is much blood and blue goop. Here I see no remnants of the slaughtered units. I personally think that watching and reading about lesser skilled players in WCIII is more rewarding in terms of battles and gore. Those in the upper echelon of gaming tend to use Town Portal too much. They focus the game around the hero too much to be fun for me to read about. It is after all a battle report, not a report of how many times a hero was microed to run around until he almost died before he was portaled out of the melee.

| lol bret... and i really agree terrannewb, there is blood and skeletons and some really cool dying "scenes" by some characters (1 hero clutches his chest and screams before he dies, floating up into the air), but pros Creep at least half the game, get in 1 big battle, then 1 guy runs over the other 1, that is basically the only way to do things. I think it is very boring as well and try not to play that way wherever possible. |

Nice report binjured. I agree you could find a better game next time where some spells and items are used. Your War3 pictures kind of show a bunch of guys standing around. That might be true for anyone, especially with no spells to screen capture.
I like War3 but my personal jury is still out. I am a huge SC/BW worshipper and loved the quick games that were possible on bloodbath. I could easily play four or five really fun games in an hour. All my War3 games so far seem to average around 45 minutes which I feel is way too long. All the maps seem big, and I don't know my way around them yet.
I do love the ladder and anonymous matching, and leveling up in ladder. I like the idea of heros and items and treasure. The amount of micro necessary to play well in War3 is far far above SC/BW, and I find my micro skills improving out of necessity. I think I will be a greatly improved SC/BW player when and if I go back for a spell. |

| Thanks t.tboy, and rest assured the next game will have better players, but from the few replays i watched it seemed like this was the only 1 with action at all, like mentioned by people before, the pros seem to be perfectly keen on creeping the whole game and not doing much else, and it's damn boring. I watched a replay of Marn vs. preacher and they both creeped for like half an hour while marn teched stupidly and preacher got bloodlust... the end was preacher annhilating marn cuz he had no units, basically. |

thought this deserved a 9. Personally I really enjoyed it, though I don't have WC3. I found the images quite well done, though as Smurf said their backgrounds should either fade into the overall report bg or have borders around them. The text was decent, and the game was nice too considering WC3 has only been out for what - a week? Can't expect matches of the skill we've seen in pro Starcraft quite yet.

WarIII can be very fast if you want remember that the game was recently released and people is learning more about it. But if you want to play a fast game on WC3 is Ez make a hero 2rax and pump archer(NE) footmen(humans) ghouls(undead) or better Grunts(orx) I prefer the grunt cuz they are very powerful on early games. Well pump like 6 grunts, archers(NE)
ghoul or footmen and go with your hero and kick your opponent's butt. |

1024x is pretty and all, but 800x would suffice for image quality and load faster, as would the superfulous (i.e. unneeded) repeated background pic. I'd also put more expository shots, minimaps and zoomed out screens, so we know what's happening, but aside from the technicals...
Awesome report. The game itself wasn't too great (try a BR on some team games next time), but witty writing saved it, a 9 all the way. |

| I've only played 3 games against a friend and the game kicks ass. Its easy to learn you don't have to be as fast as you have to be in SC and you can rally workers to work right away as soon as they get out. Just like in the previous report and when I played every game comes down to flying units,which they might have to fix in an expansion.(i beat my friend with chimereas and Wyverns in all 3 of the games) I jsut hope we get a new computer so that that I can play the game. |

good BR, it was kool how you made it sorta like an action story thingy. I want WIII now, but my comp sux so i can only play SC/BW. ANd that AOL un-named guy is a fool, all good games suck when you first play them, you have to get used to them and get a "feel" to them. The games that are fun straight off are normally the ones that don't last 2 weeks. I seggest that you only "express your opinion" when you have a worthy opinion to express, not on graphics ect; but on the sense of being the game that you aquire by getting used to the game and playing for more than 2 weeks. (or less).
I havn't actually played WIII, but i hope to very soon.

I wanted to have the pics have their own background cuz otherwise it seemed to look REALLY dull to me, maybe there was too much empty space or whatever, but like the first pic of the starting builds just looked lame to me... anyhoo, Lucky, next time we play let's not play lvl 10 players K?? Back to the report...
One thing that footman should have done is get some preists with dispel magic. Say what you will, but dispel could have easily handled the skelly onslaught. 200 dmg in a respectable radius is useful.
I am trying to convince people that a mix is better than a mass. A control group with a Paladin, knights, preists, sorcs, and riflemen can beat a control group of aboms or two control groups of ghouls.
I think the problem is that people are not used to the easy subgroups that make spell casting fast. I can pop off a few polymorphs, switch to priests and dispel the skellies, and get back to my paladin and holy light my dying knight. All thanks to tab :). |

hot dang, that was a sweet report! i'm kind of new here so i haven't read any of your others reports, but i'm definetaly going to do a search and see what else you've done. the first pic showing the map and expo locations and stuff was a great idea. the pics were absolutely stunning! i'm glad you didn't shy away from zoom pics after furious' were slandered a bit. and i liked the background, but this is coming from somone who has a perfectly capable connection.
and #55, i've tried to do the mix unit thing but i always find that after spending the dough on all the various buildings, i dont have the gold to build a unit from each building at once (most games), and i usually set myself up for incoming attacks where i get raped by an opponent with a greatly superior unit count. |
