Alright, let's see...
Some points:
1. Your intro was... strange. Or rather piles of information thrown together that wasn't really useful.
2. Don't refer to yourself as a "very good" player. If you are good, we'll see it in the report, it just seems egotistical to say it.
3. Huge pictures were unnecessary, especially with the huge text. You can just use html for the text.
4. Also, you don't need to show us pictures of units standing around, or just 1 will do.
5. Grammer needs some more work.
5. Personally I didn't really like the jokes, but that's just me.
The report was an improvement over the previous ones and the explanations were much better. The game didn't seem very long though, he attacked you, you did a weak counter, build up, he hit your base from the back, you countered his base, both bases died, you wiped out his army coming from your base, killed your reexpansion ability, and he was poised to kill you when he quit.

| I did that too once, it doesnt matter, grammer / ar is a common mistake. It still means that he has to correct it does it now. This brings me to my next point. Somegod, your report was okay, but it wasnt that good. You should seriously take advice from whosgotlag, because even though he hasn't made many reports, his information is still valid and is actually quite decent. |

I saw "Super Duper" in the title and automatically assigned you the age of 10. Reading the comments section just furthers my hypothesis.
Background was interesting, but I don't think that it worked so hot with the white text/white lines in background. Actually, I don't think your background would work all that well with any color font.
Pics were very pixelated, probably because you blew them way up.
Didn't read text, couldn't care about it.

Some_god, I actually liked it. The back ground kinda sucked and some pics were hard to see, but I like the report. I've never played EE before, and I found it easy to follow.

I agree with Who'sGotLag's comments: You're getting better every report, but this is very unpolished. Aesthetically, I didn't much care for the background (hard to read the text) or the gigantic text, but that's more of a personal preference.
If I rated EE reports, I'd give this a 6.0 - 6.5.

more text. You have 2-3 sentences for every massive scrolling picture. Give us mini-map updates. Everyone likes mini maps. "Your mom" jokes aren't really funny anymore. Instead, insult the message board regulars. A simple "Darklord is a grandma raper" does nicely. You also need an edge. You could try to be sick minded in the intro to grab people's attention by saying something like "I would have posted this one sooner but my anus was leaking all week."
Darklord, you write FANFICS. I don't think you should flame actual BRs, even if they aren't that great. Then again I've never written a BR or a fanfic, but I'm not a homoerotic flamer like you. |

the act of writing a battlereport in an of itself takes a decent amount of time if you are going to reach you first objective, wich is to interest other ppl. thats really the main reason to write one. to interest others, having said that, I say the game itself isnt interesting, u dindt make it seem interesting, and the pictures and writing detract from the already uninteresting interestingness. So basically as a battlereport it fails to succeed at being a battlereport, this is not a flame. It is my honest opinion you ( some god ) prolly have never heard of me, and since u told us whosgotlag.Ido never wrote reports in your previous comments,( you were wrong btw ) allow me to tell you i have and am rated 37th all time on this site. So if you are still going to use your time to write reports, maybe u should spend that time making a report that is intersting.

I should say that my reviewing style is different from some/most other ppls. I'm more of a "criticizer" rather than a "complimenter". I try to nail down what I felt was wrong in the report and then I vaguely go into what I thought was good in a report. I suppose it could have been interpreted as a harsh criticism because of the directness of the criticism and the vagueness on what I feel are the good parts.
That being said I feel that Some_God should relax alittle, he probably fell into "reporter's anxiety". When I submitted a report, usually with emergency editing beforehand which brings in stress, I felt tense after submitting it in the best condition I felt I could make it. If people criticize it in a way you feel is unfair and you are still feeling stressed, you might lash out and say something foolish/insulting.

Personally, I usually submit reports a few hours before I go to sleep, this way any technical problems can be reported and repaired and criticisms are ignored (rather, not responded to) until the next day.
I suggest that you wait a few hours before responding (if you do at all) so you can consider what was said. Also, if the criticism was inaccurate or unfair, other people will defend you (usually). However, if several people agree with the criticism, you might want to seriously consider what was said, or why it was said. Things that sound or look perfectly alright to you or criticism that sound strange to you might not seem the same from other points of view.
PS. Joe, you're #33 in the "avg rating" category not #37, unless you mean a different system. =) |

I liked it. The writing is much better than your previous report. Since I read your previous EE report just a few days earlier it's fresh in my memory. I think the other commenters are being unduly harsh. You are putting time into these reports and are clearly getting better.
Jokes work for some people, and not others. I think part of the problem with the jokes is they didn't have any bearing on the BR.
The graphics where OK. Not improved (in some areas worse) over your previous report, IMO. Some better and clearer selection of pics would have helped. Maybe zooming in some shots, and adding notes and graphical indicators inside of pictures, like arrows or circles to more clearly describe what is happening, since most of us aren't familiar with EE.
Since your previous report got a 7, this should get an 8.
I would give it a 7, since I gave the previous one a 6.

There's a fine line between tactlessness and candidness, but the purpose of critique is to allow for improvement of the author. The old people that have given criticism about this report are doing so based on the three years of high standards this site evolved through.
Yes, we should be supportive of new reporters, but no, we should not lie to keep them writing. To do so would be a disservice to all the writers like YRM who put time and effort into making this site great.
High ratings are given for writing a report better than those previously shown to be good. The fact that there are fewer good reports these days doesn't justify an inflation of ratings to keep reporters happy.
Finally, if Some God would actually listen to the criticism, he could be a great reporter. But, for example, how many reports did he post before he finally listened to commenters and zoomed in on his pics?

Who says i dont accept the things I do wrong. I always try to make an improvement on everything I do. For example I will never use brick backgrounds, Try to get someone to proofread, learn new things in HTML like the animated GIF at the bottom of the page,And also i did zoom in in this BR ( unit pics ).
CB you dont need to lie to keep people from not reporting but do you need to say stuff like " YOUR 10 Years OLD" and "STick that shotgun up your ass" and "YOUR GAME IS SHITTY"... I guess those are encouragements for new people to go here and start writing?

Please don't twist my words around. I'm not advocating flaming, I was defending the critiques of people like Who'sGotLag and joe.smurf.
And at one point in the past, reports were SO GOOD that 10s were given out regularly and they lost their value to an extent. I never said they were given for no reason.
Finally, the raters like myself and CHJ tend to be the first people to offer help for new reporters. If we only supported staff members, we'd have no one to support since they no longer post their own reports. And there's no reason for us to try to become raters; I figured that was a given.

That's fine. I'm not saying to give unearned points. But come on, it's not like any one is being paid to do a BR. I'm reading and commenting for fun, and people who SERIOUSLY write a BR do it for fun too, whether is it for the challenge, ego, or the satisfaction of learning. Some_God, it appears from every comment that you have made here that you are very egotistical. We like SC and WC3 reports because we play those games. Very few people here play EE. Also, a natural instinct when reading a report is not to put, "GW AWSUM JOB MAN GOGOGO RITE MOOR! LOLZ!".
It is more common for people to point out the small things that went wrong, rather than what was good as a whole. It is obvious that you are trying to write quality brs, and, while you need more work, I hope to see more from you. A good game of SC would be nice though. =/
PS The jokes were funny when I was 11, the background was difficult to read over, the text could use tweaking (more than one person proofread?), and you need to learn to take criticism. I can't find one person here who actually flamed you, they all just gave advice while you threw it back in their face. |

I didn't tell you to "steal" anything, I told you to read. Read that YRM BR. It doesn't use any cool ass Javascript, or Java, or crazy graphics, or stupid jokes, but it got 10s. And it wasn't even on War3 or Starcraft, it was on Age of Empires.
It was so good that a person from the Age of Empires development team even added some comments and praise. As far as I am concerned, that is a "perfect" report. |

Scream at the top of your lungs all you want that you're getting flamed by everyone, but I'll say you're getting the royal treatment in comparison to other newbie battlereporters. There is enough good advice in this comment section for you to consistently make 8.x-rated battlereports and most of it was given in a tactful manner.
