Nice report.
A bit too "dry" and factual for me maybe. Not sure I like minimaps with fog of war on. Images are ok but not always very readable: I had problems to relate what I saw in the images with what you said happened (not all the time, though, fortunately enough!). Also don't say too much in the intro.
Apart from that it was good: I'd say you got the basics right (easy to read, good length, layout ok, images ok), now maybe you need to focus on your style to improve the "enjoyability" of your reports.

O yes- spiders actually are an excellent counter against HEAVY ARMOR, (the little bug things they shoot must slip through the cracks) they are a terrible counter against FORTIFIED ARMOR (probably get stopped by a wall of stone..). |

I just read it, and it was enjoyable. I liked how you gave the updates in the tables instead of paragraph form (it made it easier to skip ;). Battles were detailed, build orders were good, but wtf was up w/ orange? You DO NOT go scout first, that had to be the stupidest move ever. Secondly, when his priestess got a level in battle, you said she got searing arrows instead of trueshot, which would have benefitted the dryads and fiends around her, doing more than 10 damage a hit. That may have turned the battle imo. But who knows.

I'm glad to say you proved me wrong. The report was a great read, like others have commented previously I like the use of tables that updated us on the status of each player after battles.

I was about to say "wtf did this get an 8.0 for. 9.0 or more."
But there were few things you needed to improve on, and since everyone gave you the good (which is all true and valid), I will give you the bad.
1. Your spelling got in the way of reading the report more than once. It was a little strange that you didn't check spelling after spending so much time on a report. Not a biggie, but not something that should be ignored either.
2. Sometimes you used the pictures to explain the action where pictures and detailed descriptions would have done much better. Not big.

Solid report, but with little to push it into the really hot ratings. Writing was a bit boring, it felt like work getting thru it someimtes, and I found myself skipping alot.
Focus less on creeping and the whole start-up procedure; it was 2/3 in to the report when "First Battle" came, and that kinda sucks :o I know the game was probably like that, but its not like a report is a 100% all facts re telling of a game. Try making it more enjoyable by skipping the boring parts and telling more about the battles and "funny" stuff.
Your pics were kinda crap, with no consistency, and sometimes corny quality.

Well shit, that feedback is a little disappointing...
The pictures are nowhere near as good as your later reports, gotta agree with you there. One of the reason I did this was for a little imaging practice.
...But I don't think they were crap, and I tried to keep a consistent style for each player.
One of the ways I tried to stay in the game was to really report on it from all points of views. Ultimately, I felt that blue and red really drove the game, so it was more or less from their points of view.
I actually tried to cut the mundane detail with tables and shit like that. I don't agree that the first battle is 2/3 in; I put the most effort in reporting the battle detail.
I also think there was a lot of humor, but I tried to keep it at a "meta" level, with pic-links and the like...maybe that was a mistake.
But thanks for being honest, anyway.

Killer report! Most people complain but they have no knowledge on how to do something like this. However i must point out in having seen the replay myself that i have never seen someone build or maintain control of everything so welly. Good job! Excellent report. And besides no one should give out all of ones little secrets. LOL! And to everyone else who visits...there were a lot.

Solid. Concise, pointed, and didn't go overboard with incessant jokes. Some spelling and grammar errors, but forgivable. The war movie supplements were choice, and gave the report a certain kind of mood (though I think it was lost on many here :/).
I say keep it up. Your style, at least to me, was refreshing. Don't listen to Zerg~Ling, especially if he is a hard-ass on other reporters, but an alleged suck-up when he submits one himself.

I liked this. It could use some serious editing of text and pictures, but the overall report is good. Try to strike a better balance between sentences that say what's happening right now and sentences that propel the narrative forward -- it's a hard line to walk. As for pics, lots of them were superfluous, and it looked like you were doing a tutorial course on bevel & emboss in every shot. I look forward to your next report. 8.0 - 8.5.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm trying to make this one more narrative. I happen to think that reports should be more about text than pics.
As for the pics, I think they should be used to validate the text - not overshadow it. Maybe I lost site of that.
I picked those effects because I thought they gave it kind of an "aged" feel. I hope my images are produced more tastefully this time. Like I said, I'm more of a coder, and kind of a rookie with image editing. |
