I feel your pain 1999. By the way, will you be changing your name next year? Darn double disco'ers dis da dutiful decent dudes daily.
#2 -=1999=-[3956]
I have already upgraded to -=2000=-. I am just waiting to ring in the new year to change names. Im glad no one else got the name first. Die Double Discers!!
#3 ralessi[3958]
... if they say don't disc on me they will disc on you ...

#4 Blank[3959]
You could always try reporting it.... *shrugs* take screen shots, or just drop an e-mail to them. They'll look into it. Usually, they'll reset your opponents record, but I'm not sure if you'll retain your original status.

In the fit of rage I forgot its name. And so goes life.

The state of public ladder is pathetic. Out of about 12 wins 4 disconnected on me. Luckly they didnt double disc, but it still takes the ladder out of my blood. I always start playing, get disconnected/double disc, 2v1 in a ffa(stoped playing these), or come across someone that uses hacks(and doesnt hide it well), and quit. Its really annoying and takes out all the challenge and fun of ladder. I just cant understand why these idiots are so lame. They dont gain anything, just annoy the other person. I guess its just a sign of their sad state. Oh well, mabye well play a 2v2 or even a ladder match. I promise i wont disc.
#7 -=1999=-[3964]
Sounds good Chargon. I need some good, wholesome, fun ladder games to play. You know the kind where people speak english and say gl and hf.
#8 SuperGeneral[3965]
This is the type of thing that scares me. I haven't gotten on bnet yet but I am looking forward to playing and climing the ladder. Unfortunatly there are dickheads on this ladder, so it pretty much sucks. I am ashamed...

Ok here is my summer season ladder story.
1st game: 3 FFA on Temple, I joined when 2 guys are on. (ok I'm stupid)
result: one guy offensive cannon me, the other 6 pooled me. Wow I can't tell that's a double. I 6 pooled and killed the toss tho.
2nd game: 1v1 temple, I kicked his ass =)
3rd/4th/5th game: 1v1 Dire, I kicked their asses.
6th game: I 6 pooled a toss, he used something to get both of us a double disc.
7th 8th game: I won, but the records disappeared.
9th game: I got my ass kicked on temple cuz I muta rush. =(
10th game: I muta rush the toss on temple and he died, he disc. I got double disc
11th game: I used my anti-toss strat with terran on Rivilry and beat his carrier rush. :D

so record now is something like 5-4-2

wow I lost one real game only tho. =(

Lessons:
#1: don't play public temple
#2: find your games in private channels
#3: don't join ffa when there are two guys in it already

This is the season I was going to make a commitment to ladder. But...

Everyone plays my least favorite map, Temple. I've never liked it, even when it wasn't popular. No one suitable will join my Proving Grounds games. When I say 'suitable' I mean approximately my rating or any rating higher. I don't want to play someone 100 points below me. And you know WHY? Not because I'm afraid I might lose, but because the double disc might happen. I could be winning and everything is all hunky dori when *poof* the guy discs and I lose some awful number of points. So I can continue to play on Disc=loss and get double disced on, or I could set the game to No Penalty and have everyone disc on me because there's, um, no penalty.

Ladder sucks, Blizzard needs to fix the goddamn reporting errors (wins not recording, double discs happening, any other bugs). I could live with single discs. I really could. Double discs are very very very very bad though. Until they fix the bugs, I and a lot of other people will give up on Blizzard's system in frustration.

A suggestion (dunno if anybody cares to make it true)

1) Create a new forum on disc.server.com (where shocks foren are)

2) When 2 players in nohunters play a game, and agree that its "ladder" (can be UMS on PGL Temple or whatever), let the results be posted there (the winner should post the game and the loser should agree upon having lost that game)

3) A win counts 1 point, a loss is -1 point, just post the results somewhere in a chart, and NOHUNTERS has its own, little ladder

just a lil suggestion, of course someone has to do that work (I would do it but my web access is pretty xpensive (about 0,8 $ a hour), and so I dont have unlimited time)

There already was a kind of nohunters league, but it fell through due to lack of interest, from what I've heard.

If I get annoyed enough, I report the offender for discing. The great thing is, all you need is a screenshot of the waiting for players. Then go to the ladder forum and get the url for the game. That's all blizzard needs. It's really effective when their base is in flames. I think 3 of the 4 people I reported were reset. The only other advice I have is, dont care!

Also many non-reports are when you get out of the game, and say "Damnit! The game didn't register!" It then comes on 20 minutes later or something. I don't think I've ever have a game REALLY not report, though for one I played a few and just think it counted. And some I've had to wait until next time I logged on to b.net

The real reason why ladder is so pathetic:

Overly competitive people who only care about gaining points.

And you don't have to be a disconnecter to fit into this category.

Something to chew on.
#15 HardDrive99[3988]
I can understand where you're coming from 1999. I've always played at work and had great games. I upgrade my home computer with cable modem and start playing on bnet.

I win my first 9 games no problems but due to bnet flakiness (and lag hacks I'm guessing) and disconnects I only get credit for 4 of those wins. At that point I gave up on ladder 'cuz I saw the writing on the wall.

Now I play on Kali and the FSGS servers mostly. When I come on to bnet it's mostly just to try to play some multi-player melees where I don't care about wins/losses.

How to Double Disconnect:

Press Control-Alt-Delete once.
Wait a while. Doo bee doo... oh, 45 seconds are up.
See the "Waiting for Players" screen on your opponent, and when you click to drop, he gets a disc, same as you!

Notes:
This doesn't ALWAYS work.
It only works in 1v1s.

...just a public service message from your friendly ladder hater :)
#17 BadGuy(tm)[4046]
Waaaaait a minute there sparky.

You mean, it won't work in a 3-way ladder FFA?

Ta-DA! Sounds like a solution to me.
#18 Johnny_Vegas[4051]
Yes I too hate the ladder. I'm 1-1 right now with a 998 rating, when I should be 3-1. Bnet didnt record one win, and another guy disc'ed on me. Arg!!

#19 Slicer[4096]
Well, it's based on the way the "waiting for players" screen works. If you see two people are dropping at once, it says it's you, and you don't report them as having disconnected. If it's a 1 on 1 and you both report each other as disc'd, then you both get discs...

Yes, someone could and probably already has hacked this client-side.
#20 Mark4[4344]
Here's the real solution. Play 1150+ players. They know they will get reset is they pull the double disc shit, and they actually have something to lose. People with higher ranks don't double disc as a rule.
#21 Slicer[4373]
Yes, Mark, but to get to 1150+ you either have to win trade, hack, or fight through the masses of shit known as the ladder players, who will double disc on you.

Besides, a good deal of 1150+ people hack anyway. If you don't believe me, take a look at Diablo. What % of high-ranked people are cheaters there? (Hint: it's a REALLY, REALLY HIGH number!)

And as for the super-high ladder players, I clicked ladder, clicked see current statistics, and guess what... SIX OUT OF TEN "top" ladder players were RESET! I no longer (not that I did in the first place...) have any respect for them.
