Enjoy. Thanks for Desert Demon for TRYING to help me out with Flash. Sorry that the GIF file was so big. Optimizing it would’ve ruined it and a huge collage would not capture the essence of it.

Oh and find the hidden text… it’s nothing much but it’ll keep you busy for 5 seconds.

Well, I guess first non-author falls to me. But I think it's assinine to just say "1st non-author" so I'll just ramble on. Yep, I'll just keep talking until I feel like it's a good time to stop. So...anybody read any good reports lately? Go back and comment on my reports folks. Lots of last comments ripe for the picking. lalalalalalalallalalal I think that does it.

What's this? #3 is for me too? Well, it wouldn't be right to take it I don't think. But then I already have so I guess this whole discussion is pointless. Am I the only bored person here?

You guys are whack :). I'm gonna approve this report, and give it a 7 or an 8. I dunno yet. I'll get back to it. It's good though. I remember installing the game, but I got bored with the training :). Maybe I should have reconsidered.

Cool, someone else is doing an America's Army report. The reason I haven't done one in a while is that my computer's had a lotof trouble with the new 2.1-some-odd version. I'll have to sweat out the 2-hour download again and reinstall it.

It looks to me like you got on a lame-ass server. Four people on your team is okay on a tight map like Collapsed Tunnel, but Bridge SE is huge. Anywhere from 6 to 10 is desirable, but I used to play on packed servers with 11-13 people on a side. Sometimes they lagged a lot, but that's when you got the true impact of the game: Bullets and grenade rounds go flying everywhere and you've got to find cover quick. And I can't believe that admin kicked you for something like that.

Good report; keep them coming and I'll see if I can't get the program to work.

The game sounds really cool (once you get past the training) with all the details it goes into such as breathing cycles affecting your shot, and you did a good job talking about those. However, your writing lacked a spark to make it truly a good report. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, though did not think it was quite gold.

Sounds like fun, I unistalled that game from my other comp (can't play many games on my laptop) because I sucked at it... :-(

Overall I found the report to be decent but there were some problems with it.

A few spelling and grammar problems were present but that's ignorable. The pictures were alright but gray and hard to see in some. Your game description of what and where things was going on was vague (Where exactly was the ridge overlooking the bridge? North? South? East?). It wasn't until the first gif image that I found out the answer. Also in the 6th round (there were 4 people earlier), you died, 2 more died, and then you said your team started dying "one by one" when there was only 1 guy left? Were there more that you didn't mention?

As tempus007 said, 4 people isn't very many players for a team on such a large map. You played some 7 rounds and didn't describe what was/could be going on in other areas or even where your teammates were planning on going. It sounded like there wasn't much squad tactics on your side besides Medics unlike your opponents. Mostly it was everyone does their own thing unless they really needed help. If there was you didn't describe it very well.

I thought the range was 6-7. Say a 6.

P.S. Generally I don't think you call 203 grenades "slugs". It just doesn't fit well.

Hey, a game I know alot about. Awesome.

Well, let's see here...your writing was good, and I only noticed a few problems with spelling and grammar. However, it lacked the ability to hook me in, and keep me hooked. I read it more out of curiosity than anything.

You were also pretty vague. For people who have no idea what the map is like, they would be confused.
Also, I think that games like this need to sound fun to the reader. The basics of "play online, die alot, yada yada" isn't very comeplling.
And please don't call M203 grenades "slugs". It's not a shotgun, damnit. It's grenade launcher.

However, I liked the GIF you put in there. If you can spice up your pictures and writing (if you ever do an AA report again), then I think you'll get definite gold.

-4 for describing your balls :(

I never understood the point of this game...why did the Federal Government waste precious resources developing a way for teenagers to kill time? Is this some kind of Orwellian plot to indoctrinate young Americans in the inherent rightness of America's cause? Are they saving the information from the most proficient squad leaders for a future "draft"? Even if Im just being paranoid, seems to me like the government should be doing better things with its time and money...

What they did is integrate "Join the Army" into every gunshot. It's a subliminal message, and every time you're caught in a firefight in the game you're bombarded with the message. Studies show that a good 90% of people who play America's Army show increased interest in the army. Except for the fact that their pinko hippie parents won't let them join.

Yeah pinko hippie parents!

Anyways, it was good. I thought a few more pictures might have helped, for example everytime you discuss doing something throw in the odd minimap with arrows for us FPS inept people. But otherwise, good report. Not sure how I'd rate it...

Sorry I couldn't help with flash...

The writing was pretty good, and I thought the action was pretty well covered. Maybe this is just because I've played the game. For your next report, I suggest using Fraps (www.fraps.com), which takes screenshots REALLY fast and can even do video capture when the action gets too fast to worry about screen shotting. Sometimes it helps to get your readers oriented to the surroundings. With a FPS nobody really plays, this can be very difficult. Once again this was probably not as noticable for me (previous play-time).

Some of the stabs at humor had me laughing: "Good thing that SAW could spew bullets like vomit from a breast-fed baby." Once again, probably because I've played the game and couldn't think of the right words to describe the feeling of laying down that lead. Bravo!

Anyways, I thought this deserved gold, about 7ish. How about some sorta conclusion / wrap up next time?

You might want to look into how to save demos, I think it's supported but I'm not sure. It's nice to have when the action gets really great and you think to youself "God I shoulda br'ed that."

I can't remember the level's name, it was one with just "laser tag" or something, but I followed my squad leader to this minimal cover behind the rocks. Out of the fog comes an entire squad in the open, it's something I've never seen before. Like in Band of Brothers "Crossroads" where the Germans just spill over the dike. turkey shoot man, turkey shoot!

Ah... those are the "moments"

Nice report. 7-8.

-1 for confusing me about the 203 thing.

So 6-7.

Oh, and you convinced me I don't want to try it. PeaceableGhost playing FPS = really really lame.

I would make another report but ever since I've lost my account (which had 23 honor points) I stopped playing. At the moment I am making a report on Combat Mission but I cant quite come up with the format. Anyway thatks for the comments and I am glad SOME (if not most) of you enjoyed this.

Cheers,
~SG~

I find playing this game is really stressful and exciting at the same time. I could only play it for a few rounds before combat stress numbs my trigger (mouse) finger and I've got cold sweat in my body. Makes me appreciate what soldiers go through in a long firefight.

The report is alright. I find it goes straight to the action without much setup and terrain description. Reader orientation suffers because of this. The action looks straightforward although this might be because usually you are just looking through your own point-of-view and cannot see what your other squad mates are doing(until you died anyway). Maybe you can add something about what you are thinking at this point and what you are planning to do and what you think the enemy is doing(like the guy who kept popping smoke grenades). I appreciate the pics because I know how hard it is to waste precious seconds taking a screenshot instead of wasting those terrorists by taking a real shot. A score of 7. Hope you do more AA reports.
