Read it all just now, thoroughly impressed. Who knows, this might get people to write some more reports :)

Loving these.

I played through the sequel, and had some pretty epic battles throughout. Lots of fun.

The final boss music was exciting, and I thought I was doing pretty well, I can do this etc, and then he used his special ability and I died a little inside.

Great reports, and thanks for sweeping the cobwebs away.

You know, I don't know what state of disrepair your computer is currently in, but when it gets a bit better you might consider doing a Baldur's Gate report. These D&D style games seem to be right down your alley. BG is heavy on the details and your style of reporting would lend itself well to that game.

A couple of comments...

Your choice of characters this time seemed to work well. I don't know how much of your success could be attributed to experience, but it seemed like the huge damage you were dealing more than made up for the relative fragility of the characters. I liked that you even took a chance at all, going with different characters, for the sake of the report. It seemed to work in your favor, though.

The "I hate cultists" pic was really unexpected and funny. I think you could probably do with a little more of that humor interspersed throughout the report.

I think, just to keep your readers interested, you may want to stay away from opening each section with something along the lines of how surprised you were that the enemies were easy, or how it wasn't too challenging, etc. etc... put that same summary at the end and it will be a more exciting read to see if you were struggling or easily plundering or whatnot.

For some reason I felt that the battles were very clear to read, perhaps even more so than your previous reports (if that makes any sense at all). The final boss battle in particular was well-written.

All in all, I really think you should take a gander at a deeper, more involved game in this same vein. This game had the gameplay down, but as a flash game, really lacked any genuine story or motive behind it. With a game like Baldur's Gate, it would be relatively easy to translate into an epic report with loads of information about battles, but one that we as readers can feel attached too and hope that your characters succeed.

Again, I'd like to rate this above an 8, but... yada yada... hopefully Maar or someone can put their two cents in and balance it out to an 8.5 or something.

In opposition to mattz, I decided to focus more on what the report had and intended to do, rather than putting any real concern to lack of depth in the game or comparative lack of substance compared to similarly in-depth reports on other, deeper, games. I agree with his points, and they're certainly appropriate, but just not what I was looking at.

This was well written. Well laid out, as well (except for the on-site part, but then if you could do that properly you wouldn't externally link anyway ;p). And the style of the game lends itself to enticing reporting.

You sucked me in with these reports, especially this one since there wasn't the early exit just as things got juicy. I think the most telling statement I can make is the report caused me to play this game instead of working on material for an upcoming performance.

Gonna give it a nine. If we could give tenths, I'd say 8.7 or 8.8. For what it was, this was spot on. I'd call a nine a "perfect score" for this type of report, and mattz covered the only points I thought really brought it down (the tension killing statements). If you played a deeper game like mattz suggests and covered it in a similar fashion I imagine you could come away with solid nines across the board.

But then, you probably couldn't beat one of those games in a single night like you can this one. Have to admit I missed out on the boss music when I was there, but I'm not about to play it through again just for that any time soon.

Great read and it made me want to play the game - unfortunately it's blocked here at work ... :-(
