Nice shot of the 5-7 carriers that you locked down. Did you shift cast them babies? And btw, thats just a gay, insane amount of ghosts that you have there. I'm assuming that you kinda was toying with this toss.

I've been doing something that I'm very hesitant to advocate (actually, I don't advocate it):
I'm not building SVs vs. protoss (Well, maybe one).
I instead channel all of the extra gas into building ghosts. Since my only appreciable usage of gas is with tanks and upgrades, I have a lot of it to spend. I just find ghosts quite handy, and I have 5-6 rax to utilize it all. Also, this game, when I scanned my opponent, he was going Carriers, so it gave me the green light to tech up.
And it's really easy to have a sick amount of ghosts. |

I don't care what anybody says, I was laughing so hard when I read the fishing commentary on reeling in prime-sized carriers, that my co-workers started asking me if I was okay. I tried to explain this BR to them, but none of them play brood war, sooooo.... you can guess the results...
"That's a nice fish" "She's a biggun, and pretty too."

You know, I played a game like that once... it was on Binary Burghs, and the guy threw a few zealots and dragoons at me but focused on getting an early expansion. I found out what he was doing when I cliff-dropped on him with two tanks and four range-upped goliaths and he panicked and threw one carrier at it. Heh heh heh heh.
It was kind of funny to see me stave off his one and two carrier attacks with a single range-upgraded goliath with two SCVs repairing it. (:
Then I got Ghosts and cloaked Wraiths. Game over.

Personally I really liked this report.. it was an
interesting change from the normal cold-hearted-as-steel
Heartcutter. :)
Oh yeah.. reel in those carriers. I think we got
a prize fish here!
P.S. For those of you who are looking to practice
lockdown on carriers, I have a great suggestion -- this
actually does work most of the time. Just play a few
public games on BGH. You just *know* any toss players
are going to go mass carriers, so you'll get plenty
of practice. It's one of the few ways I can even
find a use for that map. Also, if they're terran,
you can expect mass BC's. If they're zerg.. ah,
hell, well I needed to practice my irradiate anyways.
In one shining, glorious moment, I managed to lock
down about 12 carriers, and since I was bored and
just practicing, I had built goliaths, which
shot them down afterwards - to which the other
player said "ghosts are gay" and quit. Well actually
he said more than that, but this is a family site..
I remember Heartcutter wrote in a report some time ago a line that went along the lines of "that display of micro
probably scared the shit out of him." It's true. I've
had it done to me, and nothing is more deflating than
watching someone do that. Great intimidation tactic.

I don't know about you, but I find more fun to just lockdown all the interceptors instead of the carriers.
It just takes a little practice. |
