Hey .Praetor,
I hope you deal with the topic of homosexuality correctly and not the sterotypical view most people fear.
Unknown to those who are homophobics, gay men like other men because the object of their affection is a MAN'S man - not a sissy girly man. We're talking about the guy who may like guns, bikes and sports and all things that make a man feel like a man. Opposite is true for women (women like women because they are the "ideal women" and define that part exceptionally well - not necessarily the dikes and butches out there).
Now, there ARE men who are "feminine" and some women make the Terminator look like a pansy, but these are just people being themselves not wanting to "fit" into the stereotypical "male" or "female" role. This also doesn't necessarily make them homosexuals.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking and it's none of your business. I WILL tell you, however, that Berkeley is just across some body of water where someone "left their heart."

Thanks Alita, I plan to. I probably wouldn't be planning on putting a gay character in PL if I had a stereotypical view of homosexuals. I should know. My mother likes one of those women that make the Terminator look like a pansy. Good thing we don't have the same taste in women......

I really love the whole concept of using pieces of the game to write a story as opposed to a BR, at least when someone manages to pull it off well.
To be honest I've only read a couple that have been anything but boring as far as story goes, and you're the only author so far to be consistently interesting and enjoyable. Seriously though, your stories are great, you ought to make a collection when you finish them, they're extremely well written (I'm a part time author so I'm not just Bullshitting either.)

| Hey .Praetor, it may be nothing but the combat in this installment seems much more detailed, especially like when the wraiths nail the obs and you talk about the dirty wraith explosions and the blue obs explosion, and when the tanks are shredding the zerg main. It may be my imagination, but did you purposely pay more attention to detail in this installment? |

Thanks HunterD! I know I've read a few boring SC fiction pieces myslef, though a few good ones as well. I do keep all the installments saved on my hard drive, and have decided to send my Phoenix Legion main story to TOR books. Not that I truly expect anything to come of it...
MikeyMonty, you are right, I did pay more attention to the portrayal of the action. A little less as to what the action was itself, but I figured portrayal was more important. When I put in the battle of the island, I was trying too hard to get a cool battle where each player was involved, and not hard enough to show the battle to the reader. |

Hey Praetor...instead of sending the stories to TOR (or at least instead of sending them just to TOR) try sending them to Sci-Fi magazines like Science Fiction Monthly, or Asimov's. You aren't going to get any big money making contracts, but those type of magazines are much more likely to publish something that can be broken into a short story format, and tend to be a lot easier to get published through. You might want to send them some original work though, I'm not sure they'd be interested in something based on Starcraft (copyright type stuff and all that.) But you definitely have got some talent.
By part-time author I mean that I'm a full-time student (at Northwestern in Chicago if you're curious) but I write a ton and sell stories to various magazines and publications ect... It's by know means a career or anything, but it's nice to get published and it's a great way to get some spending cash.
