Corsairs have the exact same speed than mutas have. And they come earlier. And they own mutas. I REALLY don't see how you could've won with mutas when he was going corsairs unless he was a BIG TIME newbie.
BTW, no matter what YOU say, 4 peons on gas is better.
Newbie stomps never make good battle reports.
I seriously hope you were joking... were you? |

Yes, muties own corsairs when the muties are upgraded, which they are, and I don't care what you think about gas, if I think 3 is more efficent then what are you gonna do to make me stop? This is not a newbie stomp...if this WAS a newbie stomp I would've laughed alot, I got lucky, he didn't make enough corsairs to defeat my mass mutalisks until late game, and by then my muties we're 3/3 to his 1/0/1 That means he doesn 2 damage, and I'm doing much more.
I expanded when I got the overlord transport upgrade, and right after the first attack was over, I expanded 2 more times, and was raking money in.
And who tha heck are you umm... |

I said it and I'll say it again. Newbie stomp.
What will I do if you think 3 peons on gas is more efficient? Nothing. If cold hard objective scientifically calculated facts don't convince you of a mathematical truth that even all top players agree with, nothing will.
You were scouted by a corsair before you even had a spire done and still went mutas, got 6 of them and "went to his base to wreck havoc". If those 6 mutas did anything, it's because the guy was a complete idiot.
BTW, calculating damage per shot is irrelevant, especially with corsairs. Totally unupgraded corsairs VS totally unupgraded mutas. 2.5 damage VS 9 damage. Mutas deal almost 4 time the damage corsairs do (excluding bounce), that means mutas own corsairs, RIGHT? Wrong. Mutas shoot at a medium rate while corsairs shoot faster than stimmed marines. Those 2.5 damage add up fast, and they do splash. |

And that 1 point of armor negates the splash to 1 point of damage=) Since splash damage is 50% of the actualy attack (which is 2.5), add in armor which'll make that 2.5, 1.5, and take 50% of that... .75 a splash hit=) Now consider, that you CAN make more muta's than corsairs, unless your protoss opponent has 9 stargates=)
Ducky posted having 3 hatch's up, that's 9 muta's (max) really quick, how many stargates is a toss going to have early? Good=)
Muta's are equal speed (I think) to corsairs, thus if they can get around where the Corsairs are (IE, corsairs one side of the map, muta's the other) they can reek havoc, then leave before (or when) they get there, if not engage the corsairs directly.
3 peons on gas IS more effecient on CERTAIN maps depending on the distance of your Command Center. On maps like Dire/Temple etc. though, it's best to have 4 since there is more walking distance. There is a slight delay. SC.org posted that if the gas geysar is at a 45 degree angle, it'll usually require 4 peons to mine it, but if the CC is placed as close as possible to the gas mine at a 90 degree angle, 3 peons will do.
Blank's learning corner=)

Yes, especially when they think that every report I make is a newbie report. This is just one of many flaws of...earth...
Maybe Mark4 or Johnny should add a 'other names used' to the comments area? But I think I'm gonna winnuke this umm.... person.. just because it's fun. Maybe I'll use netbus on him too. If I can find it. |

You know, I've found that small numbers of mutas, say, 6, which would normally die to 4 corsairs... The mutas will live and win if you take a second or two to spread them out.
Corsairs don't kill a single muta all that fast untill there are a ton of corsairs. It just seems like corsairs kill mutas fast in a 4 on 6 because each remaining muta will die faster than the last, due to splash. When they are spread out, and a corsair or two dies along with the first muta or two, the match is now 4 spread mutas vs 2 damaged sairs...
Spreading out mutas/guardians etc can also work well vs storm or vessels, even though you lose a bit of time and aren't quite as effective with fire. The clump killers become one kill wonders. This stuff doesn't work when the number of forces radically increases though. |
