And I think you are a redneck.
But hell, If you're a redneck then I must live in an Igloo...
Which are worse, Newfies or Redneck?
;)
All the best,
Fractal_Wave
is going to get flamed to hell & back for those newfie / redneck comments | | #2 YourRoleModel (88.np2.np.dialup.nauticom.net)[6664] | | In addition to those islands. I had the 2:00 expansion really coming online too...
The reason that you were close in minerals though, is that your well managed Lowbo Newbie prevented me from getting the southern island mining, so in effect, I had one expansion until then. Right about when your view of the center went dark, I started powering the cash at all four sites and went to work on four starports and a fleet beacon.
When the game kicked off, I had a nice combination of Carriers, templar, reaver and zealots going on. There are enough cliffs on the map for me to hold you to one gas mine from here on out, and you need gas for ghosts. I'd have probably suicided your existing gas mine too.
I should have saved it anyway, because as long as there are expansions left to take, and you aren't out of minerals at your main, and you're playing a hoser like me... you aren't 100% out of it.
Nice report. | | #3 Twip (port-2-13-56k.gallipolis.zoomnet.net)[6671] | | I live near West Virginia too, in a tiny little place called Gallipolis, Ohio. It sucks here. Have a nice day.
Oh, and that sounds like a good game too. ;o) LOL | | #4 Mark4 (147.239.118.3)[6733] | | | Let me give you some advice about playing YRM. You want to go for a containment strategy early, and expand yourself. Mass a few low level troops and keep the pressure on. Destroy his counterattacks. Then drop eight probes and finish him. For some reason he just cant defend this devestating drop =] | | #5 YourRoleModel (relay.atinc.com)[6736] | | Actually Mark4, in our game on snowbound, I was content with my loss because I felt that I put up a pretty good fight early on, and somewhat into the middle game. At least I didn't die to your newbiekiller drop, and actually killed the shuttle, reaver and dark templar with the loss of only 2 drones. I know you are a better player, than me, but playing you gave me a chance to try to improve my game by watching what you did right. And actually, this is what I was starting to do to SnowSquall this game, I had patroling dark templar and obvservers, while powering to 4 sites with gas early. The dark templar/zealot drop was just to keep him busy... see? maybe I am learning.
He never tried the probe drop though... good thing. | | #6 Fractal_Wave (proxy4.gvcl1.bc.home.com)[6860] | | Now this is just excellent.
YRM, Mark, it seems that we've got a learning chain going on here...I just played SnowSquall on Winter Conquest, & he had Dark Templar at every expansion...I couldn't float a CC to anywhere...
But my ghosts spooked him
;)
Btw, SnowSquall, you're a protoss Carriers whore. That was godly unit control there.
I hope to get those 2 games posted, but the submit form is being dumb...or maybe it's just my stupid computer.
All the best,
Fractal_Wave | | #7 GayProtoss (198.182.163.113)[6887] | | No it's the CGI problem... the submit report isn't working for me either. It MAY have to do with the current number of reports, 665. That is, the next one will be... you know, the devil's number. :)
A little idea for making troops while fighting: keep your barracks/gateways/hatcheries hotkeyed. 2k 3k 4k = 3 dark templar in 1.5 seconds, while you're not even leaving the battlefield. Would you rather micro battle or unit production? :) I know I'd rather be fighting than playing simcity... | | #8 SnowSquall (dyn043-ts5a.athens.frognet.net)[6912] | | I have them hotkeyed, I just have to *remember* to do it. It's not habit yet, once I force myself to do it, I'll do it without even thinking, which is where I need to be.
I have to start looking at the big picture now.. it used to be where I just didn't micro well at all, and I'm improved at that.
Great games last night Fractal -- and like you said, we pretty much proved Heartcutter's book vs. toss. No easy counters to carriers.
Oh yes, and you forgot to mention how much you hate arbiters. ;) God, I love stasis...
