I started out by wandering around on Battle.Net. I was looking for a game to play or even just to watch in NoHunters but nobody seemed to want to play. So (sigh) I went for those public games. I created a game on Lost Temple called 1v1 w/ obs (I wasn't really in the playing mood right then) and waited for some people to join.

As it turned out, I didn't have to wait long. To likely candidates for a 1v1 soon joined up and after a small chat session the game began.

This is my second battle report and I was a trifle nervous at the beginning of the game.
First of all, the Control + F2 or F3 or F4 keys wouldn't work. No matter how much I tried they transported me to the top left of the map. And also, I had just gotten rated for my first battle report and as it turned out, a lousy 4.0. Not exactly a terrific kickoff to the beginning of my BR writing career but hey, I was willing to live with it.

Now on to the action. The Protoss player had started out with a 7 pylon, 9 gateway (then
scout) an 11 gateway, then a 13 pylon. The Zerg player started out by creating his first 7 workers then sacrificing one as a spawning pool for the greater good of the Swarm. He soon followed up with an evolution chamber and 10 lings to scout and hopefully destroy his Protoss opponent.

The Protoss player ended up circling the entire map counter clockwise before he found his opponent. His scouting probe ran skillfully around Jumpin's zerglings on the way to check his base. At the base he ran into some drones, Jumpin's buildings, and 3 zerglings. At least now I_control_zerg had an empty spot in his supply.

While Jumpin's zerglings scoured the map, Protoss was teching in two different directions. He had a cybernetics core, a Citadel of Adun, and a Stargate, with two corsairs standing guard. Jumpin finally found I_control_zerg and regrouped his zerglings at the bottom of the ramp hoping for an easy kill. What he didn't expect though was the 7 zealots that were standing vigil over the servants of Auir. 6 zerglings were killed and the rest of them ran off.

Getting confident with his skill, I_control_zerg expanded at his natural and quickly followed up his lead with a charge of 10 zealots on Jumpin's base. Jumpin had been neglecting everything since his loss at the Protoss ramp, and the 10 zealots tore quickly into his base. After all of Jumpin's overlords were killed and just his hatchery and bleeding spawning pool were standing, he conceded defeat and left the game.

Lessons Learned:
*If going for a rush make sure than you know where your opponent is. Jumpin lost a couple of minutes searching for the Protoss base, and those 10 zerglings might have been able to kill the Protoss a few minutes earlier.
*Don't neglect your research at home while you are off fighting. Training and teching is essential because there is almost certain to be a follow up attack.
*I have to put more time into writing BR's. Although this will be the second one today, I hope I get a better rating.
