The Zerg are composed of several different types of creatures that have been integrated into the Swarm by the Overmind. These creatures, or breeds, have been selectively evolved to become efficient killers and to assist the Zerg in their quest for ultimate power. The Zerg do not utilize technology in the common sense, but their natural weaponry and armor is comparable to the most advanced gadgetry employed by any other species. This biological evolution, combined with an unmatched savagery and their blind devotion to the Overmind, make the Zerg an extremely formidable and deadly foe. The Zerg have been found in all types of environments, including deep space. They have adapted themselves to the rigors of space travel, although it is not exactly understood how they are able to do so. The center of a Zerg habitation is the Hatchery. Their nests are composed of a thick organic matter, nicknamed the Creep, which provides nourishment for the Zerg and provides organic mass for Zerg Larvae and Drones to facilitate their transformation into larger forms. The Creep expands and covers the area around the Zerg hive, and is very difficult to eradicate.

Now, The Zerg want Kerrigan's heart. If she has one.

Forgery: White : Top Left Position

CrazyLisk: Teal: Bottom Middle position

Mr. Wonderful: Green : Right Middle Position

Haplo.wm: Blue : Bottom Right Position

The zerg are a malicious race. The thrive upon the creep, and devour any terran or protoss that come their way. But what do they do when they all want something that none of them can have? They fight. They choose a battleground,  and go there. They have no choice, for this once was the Overmind's will, and is now Kerrigan's will. She is not allowed to interfere however, for she is the prize sought, even though no cerebrate could have her. Each cerebrate was given a single hatchery, four drones, and a solitary overlord. Each cerebrate also got a small island to build on, there we're several other islands nearby, all within 256 tiles. (The standard zerg measurement of long distances)

The cerebrates began their long and furious battle by commanding each of their drones to separate mineral patches. The TEAL and BLUE cerebrates each started off with a 2nd hatchery, followed closely by an overlord, and then finally, a spawning pool. GREEN did a different build, starting with a spawning pool, then a gas extractor, and finally a second hatchery. WHITE, who had the best positioning on the planet (He was in the opposite corner from everyone else, yes, these planets are flat) and he would have the ability to take over several mineral deposits before needing to do anything in the way of military conflict. Even though he didn't know this, he started a spawning pool, then a gas geyser, and morphed his hatchery into a Lair.

Both TEAL and BLUE decided to go for hydralisk drops, this was very apparent, because instead of putting down a spire for the much needed mutalisks, they both put down a hydralisk den almost simultaneously!

BLUE was the first to start spawning an army, he began amassing hydralisks, because he felt that with an early hydralisk drop, he might be able to turn the tides of the battle in his favor.

WHITE, who now had a spire morphing, had apparently started the Ventral Sacks upgrade so that he could expand quickly. Unfortunately, he had thus far failed to create a second hatchery, and that could put him at a disadvantage if he we're to be attacked early. As soon as his spire finished morphing, he started a Queen's Nest, and then a Evolution Chamber. His overlords had established contact with their sac glands, and were able to produce ventral sacs on their undersides, allowing them to carry a drone to a nearby expansion slot. WHITE chose to expand to the expansion slot behind him, in the corner. During this time he also started morphing his hatchery at the original base into a hive, and began morphing a second hatchery at his main hive cluster.

Both TEAL and BLUE had 20 or so hydralisks patrolling at the edges of their bases. This could prevent drops, from those sides, easily, but a more creative strike, such as having the mutalisks fly around to the back, would cause terror in the zerg base that BLUE could only imagine from the several times he must have done it himself.

Knowing that they would very much need extra minerals and gas to fuel their respective broods, both BLUE and GREEN began hatcheries at a nearby base, BLUE behind his main, and GREEN at a base that jutted to the empty lands north of himself.

GREEN was continually producing troops up to this point, except when he was out of control. as you see here that wasn't often, as this isn't even all of his broods!

Because he felt that he was powerful, GREEN expanded to the top right starting position, it was pretty far away, but he didn't reinforce it at all. I'm sure that any other of the cerebrates that had seen this would have laughed him off of the planet, but fortunately they didn't so it went un-noticed for quite a spell.

TEAL, the coveted hydralisk dropper, had spawned 16 hydralisks, and had 4 overlords ready to drop them on GREEN's main, which was now defended by several sunken colonies, spore colonies, zerglings, and hydralisks. The zerglings ripped into the hydralisks' flesh. Sunken colonies anally probed their butts. Glave worms bounched from each of the hydralisks heads. Clearly the hydralisks did not stand a chance, and little GREEN blood was shed at that skirmish.

While no one was looking,  WHITE had taken over another expansion, and had another one starting up. However GREEN had started an expansion between his main hive cluster and BLUE's, and TEAL had an expansion near him, and was morphing a hatchery at the bottom left corner expansion.

As I had seen earlier, TEAL was a hydralisk drop fanatic, and he felt the need to do it again. This time he sent 6 overlords, their undersides packed side to side with hydralisks. Seeing the need to perhaps deal with zerglings, he also brought along about 10 of the zerg basic flying fighters, mutalisks! He sent this army at BLUE's main hive cluster, and was beaten back harshly. Foruntately this time it was almost cost effective. Almost.

Our friend, WHITE, who hadn't been attacked yet, was fully exploiting the queen's Parasite ability, by attaching them to several Scantid Crawlers near the middle of the planet. On an unrelated note, WHITE found green's northern most expansion, and was very pissed off that GREEN felt he could expand, and not defend it. In retaliation to it, he sent over a wing of 20 or so mutalisks, which had been resting up to a point where they we're now 2/2.

Apparently, there was a reason for GREEN not defending his expansion. He was busy at the BLUE main base! He had dropped about 50 Zerglings, who had been injected with an adrenal gland upgrade, several hydralisks, and escorted by 30+ Mutalisks! TEAL, who was completely idle at the time, decided he too, wanted to destroy BLUE, and he sent 6 overlords with hydralisks stacked in their bellies to BLUE's expansion behind his ex-main hive cluster. Blue compensated by taking two expansions, and not even teching anymore. He was now out of the game for good.

WHITE, who still hadn't been attacked, was expanding for a 4th, all within 70 tiles of his main hive cluster! This cerebrate was not showing signs of stopping mutalisk production. He had several mutalisks (At least 40) and 12 devourers floating over a possible future expansion. This army would not stay put for long, however, because there was another GREEN base that need to be dealt with, the expansion directly above his main!

However, GREEN would not sit idly by as his expansion was destroyed. He expanded to 2 spots between him, and where BLUE used to be, and sent his army of mutalisks to deal with white. Unfortunately, devourers and a superior number of mutalisks destroyed GREEN's mutalisks, and the few scourge that he sent.

Fortunately for GREEN, he was able to produce several more mutalisks very quickly, and was able to chisel the WHITE wing of mutalisks down to 4 devourers, with acid spores from several newly hatched Devourers.

Because he wasn't being harassed at the time, TEAL decided to take over 3 expansions to the left of his main hive cluster. At the same time, he loaded up 7 overlords full of hydralisks, and dropped them at the GREEN expansion that was right below GREEN's main. Needless to say, the hydralisks won, with very few losses, and were able to completely destroy GREEN's army of mutalisks.

Unfortunately, Mr.Wonderful had to go off to eat his dinner now. He went off, and we saved the game so that we could return later. So far, Mr.Wonderful (green) Had produced 253 units, killed 165, and lost 146. Most of the units he killed were WHITE's mutalisks. Forgery (white) Had produced 185 units, killed only 68 units, and had lost a MEASLY 26 units! Crazylisk (teal) Had produced 244 units, killed 111, and had lost 83. Clearly the 3 remaining cerebrates weren't very close, but it appeared that GREEN had a very large disadvantage.

WHITE still wasn't pleased by GREEN's expansion north of the base, and decided to hit it again. Since GREEN had lost all of his mutalisks, he did not stand a chance. This was his last mineral mining base, and his last hope. Shortly after the hatchery there had fallen, the mutalisks moved on to the main hive cluster, and destroyed it with losses under 30 mutalisks. GREEN was down to his very last base, and it was composed of only a hatchery, that wasn't even done building. Thankfully WHITE had more important things to take care of, as TEAL had 12 overlords full of hydralisks unloading on his main! With lightning speed the mutalisks obediently flew back to the base. There was a small force of mutalisks there, but they fell easily to the superior numbers of WHITE's mutalisks. The hydralisks were dropped half and half, half at WHITE's main, and the other half at his expansion directly behind his main.

The mutalisks prevailed! After intensely flying some away to make the hydralisks run, giving the mutalisks free hits, the mutalisks prevailed, leaving TEAL with nothing left to hope for. The mutalisks swooped down and methodically cleared out every expansion owned by TEAL, meeting little or no resistance. As soon as he was down to his last building, a creep colony, WHITE flew off to deal with any expansions GREEN had created. Fortunately he had made several, but not enough mutalisks to even stand a chance against WHITE's ever growing wing of 3/3 mutalisks.

As we all seem to be doing nowadays, I present you with a minimap animated GIF!

Lessons Learned
  • When you restore a game, and one of the players doesn't play because he doesn't stand a chance, the computer takes over and continues to mine. It'd be totally cool if they continued to attack, because that would make it possible to win after leaving =]
  • FFA's are very dependant on where you start. Forgery was lucky that he ended up in the opposite corner.
  • BRs = fun =]
