First off, let me apologize for the crappy previous report. First post here, I really had no idea what I was doing. Second, this story as well as the previous one were played about 2 years ago, so if some of the stuff is a little dated, you'll know why. Finally, someone suggested that I plug my site, which I think is an excellent idea! WarCraft Town Hall - visit now!
Ok, on to the acutal report (with paragraphs this time!). Anything in **'s has been added by me.
Pre-Game
Man was this a great game. It was around 9 o'clock on Tuesday, the 12th of August *1997*, and I was looking for a good warcraft 2 game. So I went online after MacGnome and I had finished playing a GOW game with us vs 4 CPUs, which we hadn't done in a LONG time.
Anyway, after a couple of failed attempts at playing I came across an 8 player game, so I decided to try it. Well, when I tried to join in, it said that the game was full, but there were only 4 people in it! Then I see this other game pop up, so I join that, and guess what, it was the other 3 people that wanted to join the 1st game. Well, we decided to start our own game.
1 of the guys left the chatroom, so we decided on a 3 player FFA, of course it was GOW high, but I later found out that Empire, the person hosting the game, preferred low. I found out during the game, that Empire was orc, I was orc, and Solastia was human.
Early Game
We started the game, and for the 4th time THIS DAY, I was at the top almost totally right spot *12 o'clock*, my favorite :) I started chatting with the other 2 players, and Empire mentioned that he liked low, and I told him that I did too, because all the newbies, don't know about the lumber bug. Empire then said that he considered the lumber bug to be cheating, and I told him that I had just used it, so he said that I would be the 1st to die. *wow, i certianly wrote like a simpletone =p*
I got my usual stuff. I got a barracks after my 3rd farm instead of a lumber mill because of the threat by Empire (you know, I build my stuff in the same spot every time). After I got my 2nd cannon tower, and 2nd grunt, I see a single blue level 2 grunt come running into my town strait towards my peon line, well, my towers made short work of him, but 1 of my peons died.
Just then the message screen pops up and it says waiting for player Solastia. I saw his town at the end, he only had 2 non-walled- in cannon towers and 5 level 1 footmen. Anyway, he was dropped, and I said to Empire, " I guess it's just you and me". He replied, "oh goodie". I don't know if he was sarcastic or not, but anyway, I went searching for where that grunt had came from, and I found that he came from right next door!
Uber vs Empire!
Empire was in the right, but not totally at the top position *2 o'clock*. I built a tower outside his entrance, thinking that he might not notice ( you know, in case he was a newbie), but unfortunately he did, and quickly destroyed it with a cata. I saw that he had about 7 level 4 grunts, I on the other hand, had only 4 level 5 grunts, so I tried to build more in a hurry, but could not get any out before he attacked.
He stormed in and killed all of my peons on gold, and all but 1 of my grunts (which had been left out of the battle), but my canon towers killed all 7 of his men! I quickly upgraded to keep, and got a ogre mound, and inventor. Then I flew over his town with my new flying machine, and saw that he had only some grunts, and ogres, and 1 sapper. I knew he was going to attack soon, so I built a second barracks and started pumping out the ogres. I got about 5 of them, fully upgraded, when I saw his sapper running towards my tree line. His sapper blew away all the trees in front of 1 of my towers! His grunts and ogres rushed in, and started pounding on it. I think there were about 5 grunts and 4 ogres, level 5 vs. my 5 level 5 ogres, and 2 cannon towers, 1 of which was being smashed into smithereens.
Well, I guess it ended in a tie, because he lost his 9 men, and I lost my 5 ogres, and my cannon tower. But I think I came out on top because I rebuilt my tower with walls in front of it, I had 4 sappers, and 2 barracks ready to train ogres. I sent 2 of my sappers out to kill 1 of his towers, and 2 of his ogres. The other 2 I kept until I had 9 ogres. I flew over his town, and I found that he only had 1 archer tower, 1 canon tower that was to far away from his buildings to hit me, and only 4 ogres, he also had 2 barracks. I came in, used my sappers to take out 2 of his ogres, and severely cripple 1 of his barracks. My ogres 1st took out his archer tower, then his other 2 ogres, then they went to work on his barracks. Empire knew he was dead, and said so, but he tried to ship out some peons, which he did with success.
Mop Up
I got more sappers and took out the farms around his last cannon tower. I then proceeded to raze all the rest of his structures. I knew he had expanded somewhere, and I found him at the bottom right. I got down there just in time to destroy his barracks. I then took out this little settlement. Then I noticed that he had built a lumber mill above his expansion, and a lumber mill by the river at the far bottom left. I killed both of these, but the game didn't end. I noticed that he had 1 last peon, and I was going to kill it, but came across the town of the player that dropped. I wanted the razings so I destroyed his whole town, before killing Empires last peon *greedy bastard, wasnt I?*.
Possible Scare?
He kept telling me that he had 15 grunts, and that he was going to attack. Well, I whipped out my flying machines and searched all over that map. I must have had 30+ flying machines, and I couldn't find him! I figured he was lying, so after I was done killing dropped-man's town I went over and killed what I thought was Empires last peon. Well, the game didn't end! I was looking everywhere for those last men, and there was only 1 part of the map I hadn't seen, and that was at the top, far left. I had a flyer there, but he wasn't close enough to see the grunts. I flew over, and saw that Empire wasn't' lying, he had about 15 grunts! When he saw that I had spotted him, he attacked me. He killed maybe 7 peons, but he was no match for 13 ogres! I killed his men, and then went over and killed his barracks, and 3 farms. But still the game didn't end!!!!! Empire finally told me that there was 1 more farm I hadn't found. He told me where it was, and I went over and killed it. FINALLY, this game was over. It was an awesome game, and I hope to play more, even if it is always GOW high.
