Lifetime Rating for FOS`Entaro`FOS: 5.5000 |   | No Pictures. I did not thought of writing this battle report during the game, so I did not took screenshots.
It was a Friday night and I was chatting in Channel NoHunters. I kept asking the people questions like "Who wants a 2v2 game?" as always. A guy whom I see every time in NoHunters called Asha’man~(X) whispered to me and said "I’m for a 2v2", and then we began to advertise, of course! Asha and I finally got Shelak, who was also chatting in NoHunters at that time, to play. Then another dude named ~Slappy~ said that he would join the game if only we allowed him to observe. The four of us waited at game setup and chatted for a while. Then some guy called Bumble_BEE joined the game. We decided that it's going to be me and Asha vs Bee and Shelak. And the game was on.

The game started as I began to construct a SCV in my Command Center immediately. I started to build a Refinery using my 7th SCV. I went for a Supply Depot followed by a Barracks. Then I builded an Engineering Bay and a Factory. An Academy followed up. I was waiting for the Armory and the Machine Shop to finish when I said to my ally "You're being surrounded." That was also when I took my first glance at his base. There were two Gateways, a Nexus, a Cybernitics Core, a still-warping Robotics Facility, a Forge, a number of Pylons and a number of Photo Cannons. I then had a Comsat Station plus a quick scan of Shelak's base. I found a half completed Starport and some Marines/Firebats. I went for Goliaths and Tanks in my Factory while building additional Supply Depots. I also began to construct Missle Turrets and I placed Tanks, sieging of course, within my base. Then the Goliaths came to stand around in pairs near the different buildings. Next I went for twin Starports with Control Towers attached. I took another look at Asha's base. There were Dragoons, Zealots and Archons guarding the base. He already had two Stargates and the Arbiter Tribunal was finishing. I went for Vultures and then placed Spider mines near my sieged Tanks. I also began constructing a Science Facility at that time when I noticed that my ally expanded. Shelak scanned us both before I expanded, too.
That was when Asha decided to fetch some Dragoons and Zealots to Bumble_Bee's newly-founded expansions. I tried to sent tanks over, and the expansion got destroyed! My tanks got destroyed too. Hehehe. The Physics Lab and my expansion's Command Center completed at the same time. Asha went for Corsairs and Scouts then. I constructed another Starport and two of my Battle Cruisers were on their way. I also constructed a second Armory and began to research Ship Weapons Level One. Then my expansion, carelessly guarded with 4 Goliaths only, was attacked by a ferocious Ultralisk accompanied by 6 Hydralisks. Asha advised me to leave the expansion and try to fly my Command Centre. But my efforts to escape were in vain. I expanded again, this time in a safer position. I took Asha's advice by building defense before the Command Center, I finished 4 Missle Turrets and unloaded 4 goliaths then I builded the Command Center That was when Asha suddenly said, "Let me ask you, Entaro, If the Zerg opponent was to do a Hydra drop on you now, what would you do?" I was about to answer when I took a look at his base. Four or five Overlords were finding a place to drop something. "You need help? I lamely asked. "Just get BCs" was his quick reply. "Okay, I got BCs coming your way." I said.
Seems that the Hydralisks weren't my ally's only problem. From the left, where it was quite bare because Asha had sent all his troops to kill the Hydralisks, were a dozen cloaked Wraiths. "I'm dead." Asha said. "You're not." I said. My two BCs arrived just in time as I began to upgrade Ship Weapons Level Two and Ship Plating level One. Asha killed those Hydralisks and sent his remaining troops to face the Wraiths. He hurriedly replaced his Cannons as well. The Wraiths got killed. But Asha had suffered severe damage, his Arbiters came out with his Scouts, some near dead Scouts and Corsairs as well. My two Battle Cruisers were both at about 350/500 Hit Points. I sent 2 tanks and a SCV over for defense and repair respectively. I sieged the tanks at his base and began repairing the Battle Cruisers, while he expanded a second time and went for Scouts.
At that moment, our Observer ~Slappy~ began to talk, and I mean TALK, just like I did when I observed Bob_the_Newt's 2v2 game, well, in fact, much more than I did. But somehow he got dropped. I did not know by who, but the screen just said, "~Slappy~ was dropped from the game."
Then enemy Valkeries and a couple of enemy Battle Cruisers came from the same direction the Wratihs came moments before. My BattleCruisers and his Scouts held down three quarters of the Valks. Then Asha cleverly Statis Fielded the remaining Valkeries and Battle Cruiser. And I repaired my BCs while he gathered up enough troops to kill the Valkeries. Then the Valkeries and BC un-statised and died instantly.
Lots of Hydralisks and Zerglings were dropped at Asha's first expansion. I was about to offer help when he simply rejected. He let Bumble_BEE take the base as there were no minerals there already. Then Bumble_BEE loaded his
army into Overlords and dropped them at the base I was guarding. My tanks worked with his Archons, and the Hydralisks and Zerglings screamed and died.
I got my fourth Starport up and began pumping Battle Cruisers while building Supply Depots at my new expansion at the same time. I scanned Shelak's base once more. Wraiths and Science Vessels were gathering. By the time I got eight Battle Cruisers, I was out of BOTH minerals and gas. I expanded again, this time just next door to my main base. I was out of money so I couldn't construct any defense. But unsurprisingly, Asha willingly recalled some Archons and Dragoons to my newfound expansion. I guess he felt that he had to repay me or something. I thanked him but his reply was, unexpectedly, "Get Medics and sent them here, please. For Parasites." So I sent some Medics there to Restore the poor scout who got parasited. that was when I got 12 Battle Cruisers. I told him that as long as I got two Science Vessels, I would go attack. My Science Vessels were completed while I upgraded Ship Weapons Level Three. I went for Shelak's expansion after that. I killed the Valkeries on guard and the entire base. Some Battle Cruisers of Shelak were sent over but I Irradicated one of them with a Science Vessel and destroyed the rest. All my Battle Cruisers were at half Yellow, half green cross section already. I went for Shelak's main base. Then 2 Protoss Arbiters flew over once the Missle Turrets were fumed out. My ally recalled some Archons, Reavers and Dragoons while Bumble_BEE kept sending Devourers and Mutalisks to help. As the reinforcements were sent not together but one by one, my Battle Cruisers easily destroyed them. After finishing Shelak's main base, I found an expansion and I destroyed it. Shelak left the game.
Then wierdly, Bumble_BEE simply surrended to us. He said something like "Let's share vision. I'm totally helpless. Just look!" True enough, after sharing vision with him, we found out that he was only defended by Spore and Sunken Colonies. We killed the entire base. When it was finishing, all three of us said "gg". Then Asha and I went back to NoHunters to chat. Shelak was there already. Umm, the report is finished, so I shall not go on.
Lessons Learned from this game:
1)Though it's an island map, Siege Tanks can do a pretty good job defending bases.
2)Always help your partner when he is trouble, whether you knew him or not. You'll never knew when you needed him to help you.
3)Never try building Nexus/ CC/ Hatchery before defensive units and buildings there like Dragoons / Hydras / Goliaths / Cannons/ Turrets/ Spores. Always have defense there while you build the Nexus, CC or Hatchery.
4)Battlecruisers rule. Don't be impatient of their long building time. I learned this because none of my 12 BCs died during my assault. The most damaged was still about 150/500. |
