Up until now, I have only written battle reports on games that i have played in myself. To see how it was on the other side of the fence, I jumped into a game created by Johnny_Vegas. Vegas and Mark4 (playing as falarn) graciously allowed me to observe thier battle against Yashastar and Corsair_Tribe.

The battle took place on the molten world of Aftershock, where a massive earthquake had thrown up several mineral patches from the planet's depths, and opened up a few new gas vents as well.

To compete for these minerals, Johnny_Vegas landed his impressive command center in the bottom left corner of the affected area. Mark4, the protoss half of this allaince warped in his nexus and beginning probes to the spot above Johnny, mid left or about 10'oclock. Both had chosen their races.

Another mining consortium, consisting of the new protossterran team of Yashastar and Corsair_Tribe contested the area. Yashastar's command center began operations in the top right corner, with Corsair Tribe below his ally at the mid right or 4'oclock position.

To gear themselves for war, the players began building thier intitial structures.

Johnny Vegas begins with a barracks, then a supply depot blocking off his choke. He then builds another barracks behind the first, with another supply deopt then gets gas and eventually an acadamy.

Mark4, hoping to attract the more powerful warriors from Aiur, builds a pylon, gateway, assimilator, cyber core, pylon, and finally a sheild battery.

In contrast, Corsair_Tribe decides numbers are more important than experience and brings in several new zealous recruits from Aiur, as well as some trusty cannons. He builds a pylon, 2 gates, a plyon, forge, plyon, another gate.

Yashastar begins by buildinga a supply depot, 2 bararracks, another supply depot, a bunker in his peon line, gas, and finally an acadamy.

All four players are scouted early, and Corsair_Tribe suggests an early attack upon Mark4, seeing the opposing Praetor's obvious tech build. For his part, Vegas builds an offensive refinery at Corsair_Tribe's base, which is quickly razed. Soon after that, 4 zealots paired with marines in the buddy system force 3 scouting zealots belonging to Mark4 back up the ramp to his base. Seeing this action, Vegas' forces quickly begin their relief march. Utilizing his new shield battery, Mark4 holds his choke for a short while, whittling away at the defenses of the opposing zealots. However, they are soon overwhlemed, faced with superior numbers and supporting marine fire. The dragoon soon out of Mark4's gate begins to dance around, dragging Corsair Tribe's pursuing zealouts around the base. Yashastar prudently decides to attack Mark4's probes instead. Unfortunately for Yashastar, Mark4's highly trained robotic warriers turn their mining equipment on the marines themselves, and lose only a few of thier number. Ushering a cry of victory, Corsair_Tribe's zealots finally corner Mark4's elusive dragoons and kill it easily. This just in time for Mark4's second zealot to warp in from Aiur and team up with Vegas's relief forces in killing the offending zealots.

After this decisive battle, the bloodthirsty Corsair_Tribe sends 4 more zealots to Mark4's base. They are immediately repulsed by withering gauss fire and the brutal heat of a few firebats. They run back to Corsair_Tribe's base, licking their wounds. Realizing the inevitable counterattack, Corsair_Tribe begins the warping in of a few new cannons. Johnny Vegas and Mark4 immediately attack, with firebats, marines, medics, and goons. They make short work of Corsair Tribe's four zealots, who foolisly try to hold his choke point against the ranged attackers. Corsair Tribe immediately cries for help and the wave of attackers enters his base. Yashastar, for his part, wisely refrains from futilely reinforcing his foolish ally. He instead bunkers his choke, reinforced by a missle turret and 2 sieged tanks, also beginning a starport. Johnny Vegas and Mark4 both expand, with Mark4 building an archives to attract templar from both Aiur and Shakuras. Johnny Vegas begins a factory. Although Corsair Tribe does claim the lives of a few dragoons and firebats, his disorganized defenses quickly fall. In despair, he cries out "I lost to terrans" and begins to weep "*cries*". Soon after Mark4 and Vegas banish the former Praetor from the scene.

Johnny Vegas and Mark4, feeling confident of victory, build up a massive containment force at the natural expansion outside of Yashastar's seige range, consisting of 20 marines, 5 medics, an unseiged tank, 3 dark templar, one high templar, and 3 dragoons. Knowing his only hope is to destroy the bases of one of his opponents, Yashastar sends two transports to Mark4's base. However, with a masterly use of psi-storm, Mark4 destroys both transports and their contents, some unloaded, some not, with a mere two high templar. He then floats a second command center over to the island expansion to his left. Vegas, having recieved the requested artillery support from his factories, commences the attack on Yashastar's main. In an unusual maneuver, he moves his marines and medics under the ledge occupied by Yashastar, who's tanks are being spotted for by an engineering bay. The tanks immediatly fire, and a few marines are killed. Vegas uses this distraction to move five tanks directly under the engineering bay, and seiges them simultaneously. Yasha star can do nothing but reinforce with another tank. Vegas loses all but one of his tanks, and a large number of marines, before the day is carried. Marching into the terran base, his infantry supported by the forces of Mark4 rapidly destroy the terran encampment. Though one heroic bunker does manage to kill a surprisingly large number of opposing troops, Yashastar has obviously lost. Nonetheless, he attempts to rebuild, only to be found by Mark4's 4 corsair, from 3 new stargates, and that base is promptly razed by a dragoon, an archon, 3 scouts and 4 corsair.

The initial attack was foolish, with Yashastar not being ready to adequatly reinforce, and Johnny Vegas so close to support. In addition, Corsair_Tribe played foolishly, building many cannons in his base even before the initial attack. Yashastar made a vailiant defense, but had no chance of winning a 2v1 against the experienced team of Mark4 and Johnny_Vegas.
