VeNoM~Sage TERRAN 9:00
loco_obre! (something along those lines) PROTOSS 6:00
Map: Lost Temple
Well every time in the last 2 days I've picked Terran (except once) they've picked toss and I'm 4-2 with Terran so far. For those of you (judging from the number of comments, most of you >:/) who didn't read my first report, I'm giving my Terran a chance, mainly because effectively randoming is an underlooked skill that is VERY beneficial. I'm quite good with Protoss and Zerg, but hell, I can't abandon humans. I'm a human! HUMAN POWER!
Early game
My build is 8 depot, 11 rax, 13 gas, and when the SCV finishes the rax he makes another depot, effectively walling off my choke. The 17th SCV makes a Factory, as does his second cousin Clyde, the 18th SCV. 3 Marines gaurd my choke, they think they're real tough because they've got a wall protecting them. They blast a scouting Probe, which is pretty much the only action these guys will see the whole game. My first Vulture pops out, I make addons to both factories and send him off to scout. I find the enemy the first place I look, 6:00. I kill a Probe that was getting gas, but Zealots surround my Vulture and he was unable to flee.

Next I send in 4 Vultures. I mine his choke, his natural, the other starting locations and his second natural. No screens of this, sorry. I was concentrating on placing mines. Anyway, after sending in a Vulture to check out his main, this small force wouldn't be enough, so I sent them back home. I have also put up a 3rd Fatcory, a Starport, and a comsat station. I have 100 energy, I scan to the left of his Nexus, since I don't know what's there.
I see two possibilities, realistically. Corsairs with dweb (bad, this is usually a high level decision which I like to use on occasion, but not this early) Carriers (somewhat bad, but not too bad).
Mid Game
A corsair flies over my base. My marines are the only thing I have capable to stop it. I set down a CC at my natural at this time. I start an armory, 4th Factory, sci fac, and engineering bay. I have 6 tanks heading to his main, along with 4 Vultures.

From the above pic, Clyde is obviously looking forward to Sunday's Football games =). Anyway, I start mining his ass and take out a ton of suicidal Zealots at his natural, he cancels his nexus. I go up his ramp, and there are two cannons by his gateways. Here is where some sloppy play comes in by me. I put a mine too close to a cannon, and it hits my Vulture. The whole freaking Vulture squad attacks the two cannons, and I try to pull them away, but only one makes it. Making units, expanding (I'm taking my 2nd natural as well), seiging tanks, controling stupid redneck Vultures and taking screenshots can effect play.
"That thar air is ripplin', Billy Joe" A tank radios to another.
"Scan it, commander!" Billy Joe radios to me. And I do. However the Protoss are using a horrible new weapon that I should complain to Blizzard about. IMBALANCE!

That's right, poison gas. That Templar is just spewing it out like there's no tomorrow. And for him, there won't be >:). Despite Billy Joe's cries for retreate, I pursuade him to stay. I scan his back and see 2 scouts. I send 4 Goliaths to my tank push, but they sure as hell aren't getting there before the scouts tee off on my tanks. When they do get there, there just 1 Tank left. But Billy Joe is pissed. The Goliaths want him to go, but oh no. Not Billy Joe. He wants to stay and kickk ass. Now I start the dreader 1 TANK 3 GOLIATH PUSH. I am meanwhile loading a dropship with marines and medics to drop him with.

I don't like this push however, but as I go home to sendmore units, Billy Joe starts blasting Probes, and the guy leaves the game. No 'gg'. Too bad I never got the drop off. Oh well, I continue playing for a sec to shoot one last shot of my base.

Things to add to the VeNoM~Sage notebook of getting good with Terran:
-The earlier a tank/mine push can come, the better.
-With Factories (and lots of em) you have a good units vs Zealots and Dark Templars in the Vultures, Dragoons in Tanks, and good anti air with Goliaths. It sets you up for a farily early drop, and you can get Ghosts fairly quickly. It just leaves your options open.
-Scan everywhere. Don't let them sneak in tech you don't know about.
Please comment on what me and my opponent did. I would really appreciate it. I hope the pics didn't take too long to load, and I hope their quality is to your liking. |
