First attempt at a Battle report… just bear with me if it sucks =) Oh and sorry about not having any pictures, I was doing as much micro as I could (still not to good) and forgot to take screen shots. Again, if it sucks, let me know and ill try harder next time. If its good, ill wrote more =) the game was kinda interesting though, so it wont be to bad. Also, i dont know how to do colors or pics so sorry =(

The Match up:
1on1, melee. Lost temple.

Me –Opiate Orange Protoss, Top Middle
Vs. WeedNinja[nip] Blue protoss, Bottom Middle

We exchange our “gl’s” and the game is underway. I chose protoss, WeedNinja stays random. I checked his stats before we start, (just a habit, I always say to myself stats don’t mean anything…) and find out he’ 400-100-25, or around there. So, he probably isn’t to bad like most public 1on1 people I play. After a pylon with 8, I send my probe out to discover what race he is. I search right first, no one there. I then get to bottom middle and see his build order is pylon-gateway-gateway, a little bit of contrast to my teching build of pylon-gateway-assimilator-pylon. Expecting a zealot rush, (he has 5 to my 2 guarding the ramp) I throw up another gateway and then a cyber core. As my first goon builds, the rush comes. 6 zealots against 2 zealots and a goon on a ramp. Doesn’t sound too good for me. I use whatever micro my skills and to my surprise, when all my troops are dead, he only has 1 zealot left. The zealot goes straight for my defenseless probes and starts pulling their little antennas off and shoving them up their ass. 2 newly build infuriated zealots of mine go to kick the living shit out of him, which they do, but to the loss of 3 or 4 probes as well. Nothing compared to what soon happens to my economy…. I decide to build a robotics facility, deciding I could afford the 200200 in troops for a reaver drop against this zealot happy WeedNinja. (I sent a probe to his base after, and saw 8 zeals on his ramp) Soon enough, the zealots come, before I have my reaver. My squad (4 goons, 2 zeals) can’t hold the ramp against the 8 speeded zealots. Damn… cant use the old dancing goon trick…

Now this, this… really hurt. Rather then facing my remaining 3 goons he charges into my base. Shit, I think to myself, another probe raping. But nope, the zealots start tearing down my nexus as fast as they can. Even worse, the dragoons, in a frantic scramble of “oh damn… the praetor’s really gonna be pissed if we let this happen” fire as fast as they can at the zealots. 2 more zealots scramble from my gateway to his now 5 zealots tearing down the flaming nexus. WeedNinja’s zealots never turned around, and it came REALLY close. 1 zealot got 1 last shot off, and that killed my nexus. A split second would have made all the difference in the world.

-Opiate “lucky bastard”
-WeedNinja[nip] “heh heh, good game?”

I didn’t even answer him. I had 300 minerals and canceled an armor upgrade at the last second to restart my nexus. My patience is on the verge of cracking, waiting on the “-beep-” nexus to finish. I have 3 zealots, 4 goons, and a reaver to guard my ramp against whatever he is going to attack me with. I know its gonna be a hell of a lot more than what I have, since he probably took his natural and has 4 or so gateways.

One of the goons looks down and sees a cluster of zealots starting to group up. 12 of them, with speed upgrade and a single damage upgrade. Wow, I think to myself, he should have more than that. As the zealots charge my ramp against disruption bolts of anti-matter and a scarab or two, a shuttle lands right next to my defending party atop the ramp. 2 reavers pop out. They both shoot and kill a dragoon, my troops being separated. The other goons and a scarab kill 1 reaver, as the shuttle picks up the other one and flies into my base. I almost laugh with pleasure as the weakened shuttle flies into a cannon and dies. Thank god I put a last line of defense back there. The remaining zealots die to the reaver 2 goons. My nexus finished during the battle, thank god. I order up another reaver and a shuttle. It flies into his main and lands directly in his unguarded workers. 2 scarabs kill a dozen or so workers as the rest flee.

-Opiate “retribution. Nobody touches my probes and lives!”
WeedNinja[nip] “grr…”

4 zealots come to engage the reaver and killed by a reaver pop strategy. The reaver fires into random buildings and soon gets attack by 2 goons and 6 more zealots, so it decided to retreat. I noticed before leave a templar archives… knowing this could mean very bad things, I hastily put up an observatory, just as my own templar archives finishes >:)
2 dark templar emerge from my gateways, eager for the blood of this treacherous enemy protoss tribe. The two dark templars run past the ramp, which is guarded by a single cannon and a high templar. I decide to assassinate the high templar, but at the cost of one of my own darks. The other goes into the core of his base, detectorless. The same reaver with the 15 or so kills lands into his base again, and shoots a scarab directly at the brother of his other high templar. As my reaver and dark templar tear his defenseless base apart, he says “gg” and leaves.
Winner: -Opiate

Were there any lessons learned? If so, here’s what I learned… at least…

-Never ever give up. The early game was pretty bad for me, but I fought it out and won.
-Micro can win games. I beat 2 reavers and 12 zealots with 3 zealots, 4 goons and 1 reaver. If I lost that battle, I lost the game.
-Take screen when battle reporting a game =)
-Always be prepared for a rusher…

Well there it is, I didn’t think it turned out that bad for my very first Battle report. Tell me what ya think =)
And, can somebody help me out with pics and HTML stuff?
