I create a pubbie game so I can practice effectively randoming. We all know that you get a lot of push overs is pubbies. However, once in a while you get a good player. That's what happened in this case. Since I was in x17 prior to this game, the I remember the guy's name, he was in there as well. He's about 26-6-2. Not bad, but doesn't say much. We could be a total BGH comp basher or X'Ds~Grrrr... deciding it's time for a new nick. His name is like ~socrate~ or something along those lines. We both random.

The Map would be Temple

VeNoM~Sage PROTOSS Bottom

~Socrate~ TERRAN Left

Knowing that I have the bottom spot, I buld my pylon way out between my ramp and my Nexus. Although I'm not sure that he's terran or what, but I don't want him pulling that tank in the canyon shit that takes down my base and is a bitch to stop once started. I scout with the Peon that makes the pylon, here is my build:

-8 Pylon

-11 Gateway, I have found him at this point and know his race, so rather than getting a 2nd gate I get a...

-12 Assimilator

-13 Pylon

-22 (about) CyberCore

I've hidden a probe way up above his gas which I'm hoping he can't see. He starts gas rather early. But he has 2 rax. Hard Academy rush? Weird Heavy Metal? Could be anything. I get a 2nd Gate, goon range, and a few goons. The Citadel comes soon. He has yet to scout me. I swing my Probe back in for a look and he has no academy...no Factory. 2 Rax full and a few marines. I try to run my Probe away, but He runs face first into a bunker at the ramp. Back at the base, I have a good number of goons, a Templar archives coming, and a zooming economy. This has been a good start vs Terran. I get a 3rd Gate and expand to the Right start. No turbo newbie for hin. If he wants to take down my expansion, he's gonna have to fight me for it.

Drop Players?? Oh wait, drop tanks.

At my expansion I get a Nexus, two pylons, and no defense. However, I'm moving my troops to the middle. This lets me expand around the map and have map control. It also makes a tank push a bitch for him because I have lots of manuvering room. What's that sound? Is it a bird? A plane? 4 Dropships of tanks and marines land at my main, and my troops are in the middle. Whippee. My Probes explode like a bunch of buildings in Oaklahoma City and only a few escape. Once my army arrives he bravely tries to pack up and run away. I don't think so. Not on my shift, buddy. I target the Dropships and nail 3 of the 4 of them. My expansion is flourishing and I add in 2 gates and 2 forges there. I upgrade attack and armor. I also have psi, and a bunch of temps. I choose to keep a Temp at my nexuses (is that a word?), something I usually do to stop drops. A Terran with Dropships isn't going to drop once and give up.

::Click:: Ah, that's the what? Sorry, couldn't hear you over the exploding Medics.

Once again that stupid sound I hear. Damn, he dropped 6 marines and 2 medics on my expansion. This proves to be more of a loss for him. There's 2 cannons and a Templar there and his marines explode like those little bubble packaging things they send in boxes, however marines are more entertaining to pop than those. Now, I'll let you in on a conversation so sophisticated no one but an expert could undertsand it:

~Socrate~: =(

VeNoM~Sage: >:)

Despite setbacks by gay dropships, I'm still going well in troop production and economy. Time to expand again. I still have the map, I know with a Zealot he hasnt taken his natural, but I have that sinking feeling he has an island, being that he got quick dropships. I expand to 12:00 at this time. His main defense is strong but he's not turtling. 1 Turret, 1 Bunker, 1 Tank. In the middle is a growing toss army of Dragoons, Templars, Zealots and Dark Templar. At my 3:00 expansion I throw up a robo facility.

Silly Terran, tricks are for Toss

Augh! Another drop at my 12:00 exp which is just coming online. Tons of Marines and two tanks. I have however, gotten the idea of my opponent's strategy. He wants to piss me off with drops so badly that I strangle myself with my own mouse cord!! Not going work buddy, I still have the neckbrace from the last time someone tried that. I barley am able to stop the drop and I'm able to hold onto the expansion. I'm getting frustrated. All the offensives have been his. Not good. Playing the defensive game is playing the losing game, and the losing game isn't the coolest one around. Also, with an observer, I know he has the top left island, but not bottom right. However, I still have a few things in my favor. I'm outresourcing him at a 3:2 base ratio, and I have map control. He's quite far from a win here. With an observer I see he's putting up a bunker, Turret and tank at his natural. I also see a lot of troops leaving his natural. This is why I have my troops in the middle. I meet him en route and storm his monkey ass like there's no tomorrow. He EMPs my Temps, much to my dismay, and I'm forced to play infantry vs infantry, a battle I NARROWLY win, I had to send backup from all bases to stop him before he started pushing a base. Damn me! I was so intensly macroing and microing in that fight, I didn't get a screen. After this attempted offensive by him, he seiges 3 tanks at his natural, preparing for a counter attack. Give the people what that want.

No Goonie soup until I get my Marine gumbo

I patrol in with 12 dragoons, 6 Zealots, 3 DTs and 4 High Templar. Unfortunatly for me, he manages to hold his natural with tanks of a cliff and end my assault. That's cool, I have 9 Gateways, and tons more troops. This is where things REALLY start going my way. I take 2 mineral naturals and pump random ground. They're all 3/3/1 at this point as well, but his marines are 3/3. I send another 12 goons and 3 Temps whom I hope will finish the job. I storm my ass off trying to get those tanks on the hill, and I get most, but I still can't push up the ramp. I take out his natural instead. I throw up a Stargate and a fleet beacon at one of my expansions, hoping that dweb will even the playing field. More ground troops are sent, still unsuccessfully, always being halted by Dmatrixed tanks on the hill. With observers, I confirm he has the upper left island, but not bottom right. Now, seeing I have gone with mostly goons, I guess he decides to go mass infantry. With an observer in his base, I see he's pumping mad marines out of 5 rax. Sucks for him, Temps own Marines.

Sending Ground Troops in Like it was Cosavo

I'm not going over it all, the game goes on like this for about 5 more minutes. Me, sending in wave after wave of Toss ground, him holding his high ground. Then, the key element falls into my grasp. I have Corsairs and dweb. He tries to nuke my expansion but the Ghost hits goon fire immediately. The game is out of his hands. He can't win. I dweb his tanks and go up and give them an ass kicking so bad they won't be able to sit for a week. Thats the way I like my tank drivers.

~Socrate~: gg

VeNoM~Sage: gg man

~Socrate~: Oh wait, I have a few more units here and there...

Is it Time for me to strangle myself with my mouse cord?

7 BCs. That's what was "Here and there". I have about 15 Goons, but with high ground advantage and repairing SCVs, he beats me down. Too bad for him, the game is effectively over at this point. 20 more goons and about 7 temps pour in from all angles. Game Over, insert 50 cents to play again. Psi Storm and Goons got him. The 'gg' is for real this time, and he surrenders.

Analysis

Once he lost that huge battle in the middle, the game was effectively over. BCs are no match for 3/3/2 Dragoons with Templar backup, that money would've been better spent on tanks. Island expansions can be a killer, lucky this guy knew that he couldn't win off 1 island and surrendered. Basically if you're the first one to get Dropships, getting an island is a good idea.

Things to Remember

-1 cannon, 1 Temp at each base. Drops die and die fast.

-His 2 rax worked well, I was unprepared for the drop and it set me back.

-Fighting Marines/ SVs/ Tanks/ Medics with Zealots and Dragoons is in the Terran's favor. Luckily I managed to get a few storms off before he EMPed me Temps in the middle.
