Well, I was hanging in nohunters, when lo and behold, Ghost~LiZarD strolls in, under the name of
Chobofux0r’s, and says “ A decent zerg needed for zerg v toss” Well, even though I am on a laptop(im at my nans for x-mas) I thought I would be a challenge for him. So, I host it up, ssd4/ssd4 under PGL lost temple for Killer.on.486 who wanted to obs. We talk a bit, and start it up.
SSD4 : Zerg 9:00 red.
Ghost Lizard : 12:00 protoss blue.
Well, I find it extremely difficult to control units and use hotkeys(on the laptop). So, I knew if he got to storm and revs, it would be hard to dodge. Impossible almost actually. I make 8 drones, order up an overlord from the overmind, and then make 3 more drones. Now, BUBBA, the overlord discovers ghost happily mining away. I knew that there might be a fast zeal rush with probes, but I never worry from that because 3 hatchery lings overpower it. I get a hatchery at my ramp, 2 more drones, then a rebel drone was going to kill himself if he didn’t do something else, so he turned into a spawning pool. I add another hatchery at my expansion, and a creep colony at my ramp. I start pumpin lings, and drones. I know if ghost leaves me alone for another 6-7 minutes, he will lose because I will have the map. I send 2 dozen lings below him for containment, and add 2 overlords in the vicinity for dark
templar detection. He is getting gas now, and I do the same. He starts a forge and warps in 2 cannons at his ramp. I get a lair and a hydra den.
I send a drone down to 6:00 and expand, and make hydras with stuff’n’such. ( copyrights uncle ben stuffing) I add another hatchery bringing me to 5, and attack. Ghost, has another two cannons at his expansion place + 2 on the ramp with +1, so I die, but I took out a lot of zeals. I pump more hydras and TONS more drones, add another hatchery, maynard guys to my expansion at 6 and make 2
sunkens there.
I get 2 evolution chambers ready to upgrade, but I don’t start yet. I send a dozen hydras at him, but again he holds on ( barely). I am starting to worry, he has leg and +1, he might be able to take me!=[. I start another hatchery and pump mad stuff, when 6-7 zealots attack my expansion at 6. I had 3 hydras and 2 sunkens, but they are going into pools of blood when I make 5 creep colonys....
SSD4's tip : If you have enemy units attacking your drones, if you put a combat unit ( ie a hydra ) near them, they will immediatlely go after that unit. I did that and about 6 drones attacked a couple of zealots while they were trying to get at the hydra. I morphed them into sunkens, except for one, and I just moved around until they finished and ghosts attack was repelled.
I add another hatchery, when about
20 speed zeals, 2 templar, and a archon. I have over 2 ozen hydras, with range and speed and a dozen lings with 6 hatcherys making tons more. Storm, try to click, mouse cant select, hydras don’t move.... pop. It is down to 10 zealots vs 6 hydras.=[ not good. I have 8 zerglings 6 hydras at my top ramp and send them down to help my natural exp but they eventually die. I am making guys from now 9 hatcherys, I have 6 in the middle of the temple effectively making the temple zerg ^_^.
One hatchery falls from reinforcements... but I don’t care I am trying to micro my expansion. I have a good 18 drones there, and I use that trick with the ai. He trys to attack a sunken there, but I put my drones in the path
of the zeals and he doesn’t get to attack it... I lose about 10 drones, and realize its not worth the loss
and the return to mining. I am losing minerals, but I am sorta making stuff non-stop from the hatcherys. I killed the reinforcements but I am going to lose if I don’t do some HEAVY micro. I micro more drones, and 12 new spawned hydras. I fight them off, make 16 more drones from all the hatcherys, and make more hatcherys when another load of zeals hit me!! I survive with 1 hydra. I start getting 1-1. I make 2 hatcherys at 6:00 natural and send 12 drones there.
I get my econ going again, and as MANY people know I get a lot of guys fast, I send 3 dozen hydras at him and take out the 4 cannons and over 20 zeals but lose to storm and a reaver. I get more drones and more hatcherys.... right now I’m losing, and this RARELY happens in this match-up. Ghost gets oppenent of the week for keeping me on my feet this long in this matchup. I remake hatcherys and more econ.. When 12 zeals and a archon + 2 temps hit my 6 : 00 natural. I have a dozen hydras there but I know they will fall. I spawn 12 lings and move my drones to the main which has 4 sunkens for my happy lil drones=]. Ghost tries a reaver drop but drops near a reaver and loads back up and goes. I
spawn about 40 hydras and a dozen lings and attack... this time im OWNING! Finally! I get into the peon line with 6 hydra + 2 ling and rock all them. Reinforcement zealots come and knock out those guys.
Another load, and im up his choke. He bliztes me with about a dozen zeals, but a few guys remain. I am hitting on his gateways when I send a hydra to scout 3, and nothing is there so im not worrying... I am knocking on his door now, and I know I have the game in the bag. * Hope:)*. I send another dozen guys and ghost says “ gg”. !!! Finally!! I almost lost, that rarely happens=[. ( In that match-up ). Now, I know with saying that tons of people will challenge me, I don’t care. I am VERY surprised I won this game, because I only have half my skill on a laptop. =[. No hotkeys and control basically. Anyways, gg! Ghost!
