ImNotDeadYet's first BR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The game started with me asking yellow_submrine and !n(!nera']['e if i could observe their 1v1 game. The said ok, so i made the game on PGL Lost Temple. Incinerate picked zerg at the last second and Yellow left his race selection up to the SC gods. As it turned out Yellow spawned in the 12 o'clock position as zerg and Incinerate spawned in the 6 o'clock position.

Both players morphed an overlord on the economicaly efficient 8th drone and chose their paths fairly quickly as they morphed their first buildings on the 9th drone. Yellow chose a fast spawning pool while Incinerate chose to build a fast extractor. Incinerate also sent a drone out to his choke to build a hatchery when the cash became available. Yellows placement of his spawning pool is interesting as it appears to block the flow of future gas somewhat.

Incinerate did not take advantage of his fast gas because Yellow was the first player to get up a hydralisk den. Incinerate did have the advantage in production however with 2 hatcheries running. Incinerate put down 2 sunkens at his choke and pumped drones and lings out of 2 hatcheries. Yellow put down 2 sunkens in his main being carful to protect all buildings and drones and proceded to pump hydras. The players found each other with the first overlord they sent scouting at exactly the same time. Yellow was able to force Incinerates overlord to retreat without gathering any information except that Yellow had hydras. Yellows overlord however wasnt touched and was able to see what Incinerate was up to until 3 freshly hatched hydras took care of it.

Incinerate simultaniously expanded to his natural and sent a force of 9 lings up to Yellows natural to recon for and help stop an expansion attempt. Incinerate soon got bored of this however and sent his lings to hide in the top right corner of Yellows main. Incinerate sent 1 ling in to scout the mineral line defense but the 2 sunkens Yellow had took the ling out very fast. Incinerate decided an assult on the mineral line would be suicidal so he left his lings in the hiding spot and proceded to send about 6 hydras to Yellows choke for a little containment.

Yellow decided it was time for an expansion and tried to send a drone to his natural. However, Incinerates hydras would have none of that and killed the drone. Now that Yellow knew the hydras were at his door step he decided it was time for an attack. He gathered a control group of hydras and began to push out. Yellow had supperior micro over Incinerate and lost only 2 hydras to Incinerates 6. However Yellow lost another hydra when Incinerate attacked the back of the hydras with his lings that had been hidden in Yellows Base.

This is where this game turned odd. Both players seemed to be going hard hydras. This is odd in Zerg vs Zerg matchups because almost all of the games ive seen or been in with this match up came down to Mutas and Lings.

After Yellow broke the small containment he sent his remaining 9 hydras down to do some damage to Incinerate. Yellow sent 6 more reinforcements of hydras as they hatched. the reinforcements were about 4 screens behind the main group. From the short vision supplied by his dead lings, Incinerate knew that the attack was comming and rallied about 12 hydras to his expansion(he had no sunkens for defense). Yellow expanded while his hydras were on the trek down to Incinerate.

The resulting battle at Incinerates natural was the most important of the game, and was also very bloody. Again Yellows hydra micro ability to target one thing at a time made the difference. Yellow lost all his original attacking force to the reinforcements Incinerate was pooring in from his main but once Yellows reinforcements got there, it was the end of Incinerates expansion. And pretty much won the game for Yellow.

Now Yellow feels in control of the game with Incinerate contained and a fully operational expantion. Yellow rallied about 15 hydras and 12 zerlings to Incinerates expansion and proceded to attempt a push up the ramp. Meanwhile Yellow starts a spire at his main.

Sadly for Yellow his attack is repulsed hardcore by about 12 hydras 6 lings and 2 sunkens on the high ground. After the attack Incinerate reclaims his natural with hydras. However at the same time Yellows first mutalisk hit the skies. Yellows mutas make a bee-line strait for Incinerates mineral line and proceed to cause havoc until Incinerates hydras drive them off. More than 10 drones were killed in the attack.

After this attack the players are content to build up their forces some more with Yellow, seeing how a ground assault is now futile, is going all mutas. While Incinerate is concentrating on hydras. During this time Yellow takes the 9o'clock main and Incinerate takes the bottom right island for expansions. Sadly Incinerates expansion is noticed by a patroling overlord and a control group of mutas is dispensed to take care of it.

At this point the game is virtually over and both players know it. Yellow has 3 operational expansions to Incinerates zero and Yellow as about 2 control groups of mutas. Both players offer a GG, and incinerate leaves.

This game was fun to watch because of all the action. Some of the players strategy I am not familiar with. Especialy the mass hydras in Zerg vs Zerg. If you people would please coment on this I would appreciate it because as I said earlier most Zerg vs Zerg ive seen and played is Mutas and Lings.

P.S. Raters please be kind! Im using Paint Shop Pro shareware for graphics so i cant do anything fancy like some others. And ive noticed most peoples first reports get LOW ratings..... ....... ... mebe you could change that trend!

Lessons Learned-

  1. Being able to micro when your opponent doesnt will win you many games.
  2. Zerg > Zerg HUK HUK
  3. Hydras to Mutas........ hmmmm ill have to try it.
  4. Not one lurker was used all game. Another thing ill have to try.
  5. These players are very good even though they used some not so common strategies.

Again thank you for reading and im willing to do any butt kissing possible to get a high rating........ errrrr!!! Have a nice day :)
