| Fast Lurkers? The revenge of the hydra...(part 4) | | | Author: | | | IP: | XXXX | | Date: | 06/01/99 09:06 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 6, Min: 6 Lifetime Rating for Heartcutter: 7.5238 | | My opponent actually deserves a 1300 rating. He's macro-ing well and taking advantage of opportunities. I've created 3 new CC's at my main for floats over to other resource centers.
As my new expansion is coming in for a landing with all of my marines guarding, he attacks! A mix of lurkers and hydras. My marines have a difficult choice. Run and live, or stay and die to the spines.
Ahh...thats the stuff.
Blood and ichor drench the ground red. The marines perish, taking a healthy chunk of hydras with 'em. Between the hydras and lurkers they manage to pound their way through the CC and onto my natural area. And with no tanks to guard, they have a straight shot at the ramp.
A furious defense ensues at my ramp, and thanks to stim, are halted at the gates. But there are casualties. I lost a CC and control of the center. I don't like that...
I also spot overlords speeding toward island in the bottom right, but I know the destination... my natural.
They unload their deadly cargo right in the peon line. A furious fight ensues. The bunker goes down, but makes their mark on the invasion. I lose a large chunk of SCVs as well as a large amount of marines. But at least the clock is ticking. If I reach 3/3 and Sci Vessels, I win. You think I'm kidding, right? I'm at 2/2 now. Just wait!
This game has gotten out of my control. I hate it when that happens. I try another expansion attempt at the second natural. At the same time the drop lands at my natural. His timing is impeccible. As I'm cleaning up the last of the lurkers and hydras, he's finishing off the new CC there. Doh.
How could it be any worse? I scan around and see that it's indeed worse. He's expanded to the 9:00 start. Now he's got a shot at going all the way. All I have for production is a drained main and a crippled expansion. At least I'm floating a CC down to the island on the right. This proves to be a vital move later on.
I don't like that expansion. In fact, it makes me want to kill it. I grab the nearest groups of marines and medics, set the waypoints to patrol into that expansion, and plan on kicking some slimy ass.
I get there and notice he has a nydus canal. Tech! I love it. He holds me back near the ramp with masses of hydras and lurkers. My stim and medics are still holding firm, Irradiate glowing hard. But just as the tide looks to be in my favor, lurkers begin to dust my troops. Now all that's left are medics and Sci Vessels.... | | Battle Shots! | Deadly. Very deadly swarm... and not a tank in sight.
 The defense held...barely!
A BEAUTIFUL drop executed on my natural. Too bad it really hurt.
Terran VENGEANCE!! We're looking for blood. Those SVs were irridating like mad.
 It's ALMOST enough.....
