an SCV-incorporated presentation "The two Protoss commanders stood facing the Temple heads bowed in prayer. When the ritual had finished, they turned and left the sacred grounds each to his own encampment. Both wished to claim the Temple in the name of Aiur and thus receive glory and praise from their superiors. Neither was willing to give up their stake. Only one course of action lay ahead. Their forces would meet with the victor winning the right to claim the Temple in the name of their people." Welcome once again to another killer-SCV battle report. This match took place as the conclusion to a best of three series between crap666 and webby(MT) had been playing. With the scores locked at 1 all I joined the game in the hope of seeing a titanic struggle between two great players. Well, I was partly right... The map chosen for this game was the overly abused Lost Temple (in case you hadn't already worked it out) webby(MT) selected Protoss and warped in at the 12:00 start position while his opponent crap666 aka InFeStEd~ZoMbIe also picked Protoss and warped in at 3:00 The Opening Moves Both players started out with a pylon, followed by two Gateways. webby then went for an early resource lead by starting a second Nexus at his natural expansion followed by another Pylon, an Assimilator, a third Gate a Forge and then his Cybernetics Core After his second Gate, crap666 added an Assimilator, a third Gate Cybernetics Core and a Forge. He then begins to mass Zealots at his ramp while webby adds two cannons below his ramp to protect his fledgling expansion. crap666 begins a Citadel of Adun and when he has nine Zealots and three Dragoons and sends them to attack his enemy. webby is defended by seven Zealots and two cannons. crap666's larger force pushes past the defenders and attacks the expansion and although webby is able to gather five Dragoons and destroy crap666's remaining forces, the damage is done and the Nexus is razed, crushing webby's early expansion attempt. crap666 now expands to his natural and defends it with the nine Dragoons that were queued while his attack was taking place. webby sends out a probe to scout his foe and before it is horribly slaughtered it relays the fact that an expansion has begun at crap666's natural. After losing his expansion webby decides to return the favour and sends his force eight Dragoons to punish the expansion attempt. However crap666's forces have now swelled to thirteen Dragoons and with the high ground advantage and the weight of numbers webby's troops are beaten back with only light damage to the defenders. Undeterred by the loss of his forces webby again expands to his natural, then adds a Templar Archives and Robotics Facility back at his Main. In a similar move crap666 also adds a Templar Archives but warps in a second Forge. Both sides now build up their forces for the next round of combat. crap666 makes the first move. Taking his massive force of twenty five Dragoons he charges to webby's base to confront the defending force of eleven Dragoons and two Zealots. Despite being horribly outnumbered, webby still has a card up his sleeve. Five newly made Dark Templar enter the fray. the result of this bloody encounter?? Dragoon Soup

webby sees his chance to strike back. Using a newly made Shuttle he begins dropping into crap666's Main. They begin tearing into the undefended base (all crap666's troops were committed to the attack). crap666 tries desperately to set up an Observatory but it does not finish before the Dark Templar destroy the warp beacon that draws it to the surface. The Dark Templar raze the Nexus, a Forge, a Citadel of Adun, Robotics Facility, three Pylons and a Gateway before crap666's cannons warp in killing three of the Dark Templar and forcing the other two to flee to safety.

At the same time a brave little Probe heads south from crap666's base to start a new expansion at the 6:00 Main.

The Probe then begins to warp in cannons at the top of the 6:00 ramp but they don't finish in time to stop a scouting Dragoon from webby making it up the ramp where it begins to attack the still warping structures. crap666 dispatches a force of Zealots and Dragoons to beat it off (not literally of course.) At the same time, webby drops a drone at the Top left island and begins a new Nexus there.

Time for a Mini Map...

While his Dragoon runs around causing mayhem in the 6:00 Protoss expansion webby decides to mix it up a bit more. Two Dark Templar are placed in a Shuttle and dropped near the unprotected Nexus (crap666's cannons are all at the top of the ramp).

crap666 again scrambles to put up an Observatory and it completes and an Observer is quickly produced. It treks to the beleaguered 6:00 Main. It arrives just as the Nexus is destroyed, but Dragoons and Zealots extract their revenge on the cloaked assassins.

Back at their Mains both players begin to amass their forces. A quick upgrade check shows us this...

crap666 has been upgrading from two forges while webby has only the one, giving crap666 a distinct advantage over his foe.

webby decides to make his move. Taking his force of thirteen Dragoons, two ark Templar, three Zealots and three High Templar he storms into crap666's natural. There the Protoss forces meet. Particle Cannons fire, Psi Storms crackle and invisible blades slice. Even more blue Dragoon fluid flows onto the ground as reinforcements charge into the battle from crap666's 6:00 expansion and sfter a bitter struggle webby's troops are defeated.

Last Throw of the Dice
While the battle for crap666's natural was being waged, webby also tried to expand to the 9:00 Main but a scouting Dragoon from crap666 finds it and puts an end to the attempt.

crap666's victorious forces are bolstered by reinforcements and now contain eleven Dragoons, nine Zealots (all fully upgraded by now) and an Observer or two to cancel out any Dark Templar sneak attacks. They make their way to webby's base which is guarded by eight Dragoons, a High Templar and a lone Dark Templar. They defend valiantly against the attacking forces but superior numbers and superior upgrades carry the day and crap666's troops raze the natural expansion at 12:00. At the same time crap666 also discovers webby's only mining base at the top left island. With no troops and his main being quickly destroyed, webby sees that all is lost and conceeds the game.

Thoughts for the Day

1. Well, a fun game to watch. To be honest, half way through my fellow observer crap888 and myself were sceptical of crap666's chances of surviving after the Dark Templar destroyed every single Dragoon in his army and the proceeded to have the same affect on his main. But he fought back and was rewarded with victory.
