Korean vs Kobull
Welcome to my 3rd Battle Report. So far my scores have
been a 4 and a 7, but now i present a BR that should get at least a
7.1!
BEHOLD:
Long, long ago on a planet far, far away a powerful zerg
cerebrate and a intrepid protoss executor landed on the same narrow
stretch of land. After learning of each other's presence they began
to prepare for war. Who would win?
Alas, that was the question. I was in nohunters minding my own
business when i hear of a 1v1 game to be played. I quickly join up
and ask if I could observe. I was allowed to but on one condition.
One player, namely Turbo,
(oops, wrong font ^^ ) would not be named by Bnet name.
Instead he is KOREAN! I have left hints
to his real name in this BR. Guess his name and get nothing!
My favorite new part of the BR, BEST QUOTES! Which is your
favorite?

Or:

Okay, okay, okay. I saw these and just decided to put them up.
Anyway, ON TO THE MATCH!
[switch to referee persona]
ALRIGHT YOU LADIES! In the Blue corner, the ever brave and powerful
PROTOSS EXECUTOR, KO[B]ULL!
AND IN THE ORANGE CORNER,
the skilled, the sucky, whatever you call him, this ain't his name,
HE IS KOREAN!
TOSS READY? ZERG READY? LET'S GET IT ON!
[back to normal persona (if there is such a thing)]
Sigh, I have a feeling almost no one here knows what the map
Showdown is. It is a Brood War only map on desert, very narrow and a
twisting path to both mains. Each side of the map has 1 "island"
expansion, one main, one mineral only, and one gas exp near the
middle. Very anti rush, Turbo newbies not good. Any way here are the
races:
As you can tell, Krebster was
another observer, who was just making jokes to both the players. So
after DLing, all were on there way. Korean went for quick gas with a hatch next to first, then a pool, extractor,
and sunken for d, while Kobull went 2 gate with assimilator and cybernetics core.
Strange enough, after scouts died, no other attacks were made.
Seeing his opponents abstention from attack for now, Kobull decides to take his middle expansion.
Very risky move, would it pay off? In fact it did. Korean did not attack for a while. And when he
attacked?

Korean's attack was useless. 10 zerglings got owned by goons, zealots and a cannon. Casualties of
battle: 10 lings and 1 cannon. Pathetic. But his army is not all
lings. He had used his early gas to tech
to Mutas! He finally has the guts to
send 6 of them up the map, past the exp,
into Kobull's main.
The cannon is quickly destroyed and
a few probes die to, but some other
cannons, set up earlier, protect them.
The mutas take potshots at the nexus, NOT the warping citadel of adun (you know, the thing that
allows Templar archives, which in turn
allow temps and DTs.) Until a pair of sairs come to scare them off. Sadly, the mutas
do not return home, instead they stay near the island exp for a
while. Here is the available troops for each player:Kobull; probes, zealots, goons, scouts, sairs.
Korean; drones, lings, ovies, mutas.
WHAT IS MISSING FROM KOREAN'S LIST?!
Seeing the sairs of blue, Korean FINALLY decides to create a HYDRALISK DEN!. Too late. Why? Next slide
please:
Korean's Hydros finally rid
themselves of the sairs. Casualties: 1
sair, all but one ovie. That
disability is countered soon enough, when more ovies are created. Again not much happens. The
mutas return home, Korean takes his mineral
only, ho hum. THEN something happens!
FINALLY, SOME ACTION! Kobull decides
the build up has gone on long enough. After badly damaging the newly formed expansion, the sairs, goons, and zealots are driven off. For
now. But Korean has other plans. He
decides to send his second attack.
The attack, consisting of hydros and
lings, is repelled with a fair amount of lings, zealots,
and a few goons lost in the battle. Now
wait a minute. Only a few goons lost?
Either Kobull has excellent micro, or he
has something up his sleeve! After careful consideration, he decides
to do what zerg (remember that he is
Protoss) must do, MACRO LIKE HECK! He
gathers melee units only, with a few sairs for air support, and launch them at the
expansion!
Due to the extreme size of this picture. Please go to see it
here.
Sorry about this. The pict is really big and i don't want to reduce
it.
The expansion falls with a fair
amount of casualties around it. With the fall of the expansion, Korean bids his farewells and GGs as he wishes
not to waste his time watching his remaining base be massacred. At
least he didn't disconnect...
So with that a mildly exciting game ends. The gutsy maneuver in
the beginning, claiming the gas exp
early, was the key to this game, as that way Kobull was able to deal massive damage to the
expansion. BTW, did you figure out Korean's real name? 2 parts of his name are in
normal places, but not really necessary. Good luck. You'll need it.
:)
