Welcome everybody to my second battlereport. Now, with me just starting to type this I observed the game on Wednesday night and figured that this was the best that i had gotten in a while and i decided to do a battlereport on it. I am expecting more sevens on this one cause i feel it is of about the same quality as my last battlereport. Well, enough of this, onto the game.

As usual i was sitting in nohunters deciding whether to play or observe as Paul-Van-Dyk spammed for a 1v1. I asked if i could obs and his response was I Don't Care. Soon, P@thetic accepted the challenge, and i asked to obs again. And then both said. I don't care. So Paul made the game and i jumped in.

Title

Paul-Van-Dyk: Brown randomed Terran 3 o Clock
P@thetic: Purple Randomed Toss 9 o Clock

The beginning

Paul-Van-Dyk chose random and those random gods gave him terran @ 3 o clock. He went for a very standard build order which consisted of making those cute SCV's mine and the 8th one went down to his ramp to build a depot. Once that depot was done the SCV went scouting clockwise which means that he would find toss on the second try and the 10th SCV up at the Command Center was told to build a barracks. P@thetic had recieved toss from the random gods and began with a similar build order. of the eigth probe creating the rift of a pylon and then being sent to scout counter clockwise. He added a gateway at 10 as his Probe and the SCV belonging to Paul-Van-Dyk met up at the 6 o clock start position.

Now with both players knowing the race of the other their build orders DON'T DIVERGE!! They both add gas at 12 supply to get to the high teched units they need in this battle. P@thetic and his scouting probe found terran far before terran found him. He made it in just before the last depot of the wall was started and recieved the valuable scouting information. The scouting SCV stood idle at the six o clock start obviously so that he could get a better idea of his opponents tech options.

The Toss added a second gateway and produced 1 zeal for no apparent reason except maybe to stop a 2 marine rush cause that is all that Paul-Van-Dyk had. P@thetic then added a second gateway at his main and then after that he added on a cybernetics core. That SCV idling at six finally made its way into the protoss encampment and made it past the 1 zeal to see the 2 gate goons that would be coming. Back at the terran main he had started on 1 factory and soon put up another one. They must have spiderman climbing the tech tree for them Protoss kills the invading SCV and then sends a probe of his own to scout for the terran main. He makes it to the wall just as his first 2 dragoons pop out of his gateways. He then figures that since he was not blown to smitherines by tank fire that he can send in the goons and zeal to do some damage.

While this was happening Terran started an engineering bay outside of the Toss main base.Tricky While the Protoss troops move with their march terran has added 2 machine shops and begins researching mines, and siege mode. His first tank pops out as the goons and zeal are halfway across the map and he soon sieges it up.

Terran's engineering bay has finished and he lifts it up and flies it into the protoss main. Now That is What i Call Gosu He recieves some very valuable information on the protoss teching as the 2 goons march up the terran ramp as they have finally made it only to be blasted at by the arclite fire from the siege tank.

I wonder how hot that is

One goon is quickly shot down as the zealot dies to marine fire the 1 remaining goon retreats and stays outside of the choke to the terran natural.

Mid Game

During this attack at their mains neither has been very quiet. The toss has started on a hidden Robotics Facility on the farthest right side of his base. He also puts up a citadel in his main tech line. Over at the Terran base he has started on a Command Center behind his wallin obviously to be floated down to his natural. At about this time the Protoss player sends a probe down to the six o clock main and expands there. If this was BGH, they wouldn't have to do this.

At the Protoss main he has a few more goons and sends three to work as a "containment" force even though it is hardly anything. He has also added an observatory and has observers in a few places around the map. He now sends those 4 goons and attempts to break the terran expansion but he is torn apart by a bunker, a sieged tank and a few well placed spider mines. Terran adds a 3rd factory to his main and starts on a new engineering bay and this one does die in a scouting mission. P@thetic adds 2 gates @ Six O Clock expansion and also expands to 12 o clock main. He is still yet to take his natural but probably because it is right in the way to his base.

Paul-Van-Dyk has continued buildling up his forces and now knows about the six o clock expansion. He adds 2 armories, a starport, and once the starport is finished he adds a science facility for upgrades and for the mobile detection a terran needs vs. a protoss.

P@thetic has finally added a templar archives and begins on making high templars and use their deadly psionic storm on any terran unit that may fall prey to it.

It seems that Paul-Van-Dyk has disapproved of P@thetic's expansion at 6 o clock and seconds a force of tanks and vultures down to dispatch of it. He has a few cannons at the ramp, but with a science vessel to spot the tanks should be able to take that out. The tanks go down and siege, only to have the fury unleashed upon them known as storm. Multiple storms are shot off as vultures explode. Back at the terran main He has finally started on Goliath Production from his 4 factories and is sending them as they are produced. Tanks are drastically weakened by the storms and eventually everything dies to storm and cannons except 1 tank which falls to two new goons one of whom was the zealot who was killed earlier in this game. Hrrm.... I thought that goons had to wait a little bit longer before they could come back from the dead.

The Little tank that just couldn't make it.

The Late Game

During this battle toss laid down 3 stargates at his expansion and a fleat beacon at his main. This would later be proved to be used for Gayweb as his first corsair popped out. The current expansion count was 3 to 2. Terran finally scouted 12 o clock with a dropship that was almost shot down by cannons as 8 tanks go with spotting from the dropship they are able to take out the frontal defenses.

Toss still has a rather large idling army at his base which has not been moving. Terran has assaulted six during his assault on 12 and has finally broke through the defenses for the first time. He sets up a mine field as a few tanks destroy the last pylon that was the remnance of the cannon defense.

Now this was the little tank that could. I Think I can, I think I can

Over at 12 o clock the terran is still dictating the game flow and has now busted through the defenses their. No reinforcements come as there are a good number of tanks their blasting away. In the end only 1 tank was able to reach the nexus and terran began on another CC in his main as the 1 tank shot down the nexus at the 12 o clock main.

Hey, i see a laser there, maybe that is what cut through the expansion.

During this time Toss expands to his natural and terran to the 12 o clock natural expansion. The toss main is nearly mined out and the terran main has about 1000 minerals left. But terran has a much stronger income flow and is dictating the flow of the game. Paul-Van-Dyk, With his success at 12 decides to test P@thetic at 6 o clock again. What ensued there was an epic battleRound Protoss was able to win this battle with gosu storming and gaywebbing. Toss was wounded badly as he took hard casualties but with terran adding a fifth factory his casulaties were much less serious.

Toss lost many troops that went to help at six and his main was reduced. Now, Terran puts 1 tank and 1 vulture in a dropship and actually uses only that cargo to fly over the map and put a turbo-newbie on to the protoss natural expansion. The probes are forced to flee and the 2 goons that are dropped that try to stop it die miserably to spider mines as soup falls all over the ground. Terran now gave up at six o clock for the moment and sent 3 tanks, 5 goliaths and 2 SV's to the protoss natural to have no resistance except 12 probes. That is easily faught off as reinforcments arrive they march up the ramp to be met by storm. Many goliaths die and gayweb is shot off and the tanks fall to some goons. But the reinforcements continue coming. Soon he is able to get rid of the temps and sieges with his tanks. The corsairs have ran out of energy and goons try to fight to get this but the splash damage of the tanks wins this battle. With no resistance at his main The protoss main falls to the final tank push of the game.

Bye bye toss main

Now all that was left was six o clock and there was not tank push here. With three incomes of minerals and gas he straight macroed his way and just sent a mass of units down to the six o clock expansion. They cut through the expansion even though a few good storms were shot off there was not near enough resistance to stop the amazing amount of terran forces that were coming. GG's were exchanged and i congratulate both combatants on a well fought game.

closer than i thought

What We Learned

-Upgrade. That game terran ended at 2/3 and protoss at 0/0/2 -Don't adapt to the flow of your opponent. If toss would have taken some more offensives this could have been a different game -Both these players could own me 1v1.

Well that is it. Feel free to be comment whores on my report.
