Lifetime Rating for {DD}Fatboy: 4.3571 |  | Hello, {DD}Fatboy again! Haven't done a BR in awhile so I decided today would be good. This Saturday morning started with me getting owned in a couple of 1v1's. Deciding it wasn't my day, I decided to BR a game instead. Switching over to NoHunters, I saw Chargon spamming for a 1v1. I asked if I could BR, and he said yes. Then I saw the words char1/1 pop up on the screen, so I joined. There, I found Sexy^Orangutang and Chargon already there waiting. After some pre-game chatter, we were off.
Map: The Lost Temple
Contestants: Chargon vs. Sexy^Orangutang
I didn't know much about these two players, but I did manage to do a stat check. Chargon was a 1112 player , and Sexy^Orangutang was a 1004 player.
As I found my CC in the grounds of lost temple, I quickly lifted off and killed all but one of my SCV's. Then, I received vision from the two combatants. Chargon was at the 12:00 position with a shiny brown nexus, and Sexy^Orangutang was at 3:00 with a pulsating white hatchery. Chargon started with 8 pylon, 12 gate, 13 pylon. Sexy^Orangutang went with 8 overlord, 12 pool, 13 gas. Chargon seemed to be going a hard zealot build, while Sexy^Orangutang seemed to be teching.
As soon as Chargon's first zealot came online, he sent it and 3 probes to Sexy^Orangutang to see if he could do some damage. At this point, Sexy^Orangutang didn't have any defence, so I thought the game could be over. When the protoss forces got there, the probes and zealot went to work on the drones. When the drones fought back, the zealot seemed to just dance around and not attack, so the drones were able to kill it with only 2 losses. The beeping brown probes were spared, so they flew back to their base.  During the battle, Chargon builds an assimialtor and is collecting gas.
With first blood being over, both gladiators continue to climb the tech tree. Chargon starts a cybernetics core, and Sexy^Orangutang starts his lair upgrade. At about this time, both players take the time to expand as well. A time of peace comes, and no one attacks for quite awhile. Soon, Sexy^Orangutang has a spire, as well as an additional hatchery, and Chargon is working on templars, and has also added 3 gateways, bringing his total to 5. When their exp's finish, Chargon maynards his probes to his natrual, but Sexy^Orangutang doesn't. This gives the protoss player a demanding lead in economy.
When Sexy^Orangutang gathers 12 mutas, he sends them around the map to attack Chargon's back door. However, right at this time, protoss forces are gathering around the zerg infestion and attack! Since the zealots and dragoons were 1-0-0 compared to the zerg 0-0, they quickly tear apart the defending zerglings and sunken.  The protoss forces push past the natrual and up the ramp, but are then stopped by newly morphed sunkens. Chargon contents himself with playing containment. However, Sexy^Orangutang's mutas return, and wait for a couple more to hatch before attempting to break the containment. Because the protoss army was mainly composed of zealots, Sexy^Orangutang manages to rid the protoss containment with his horde of mutas.  During this confusion, Chargon takes the time to expand to his mineral natrual. Chargon is now harvesting 3 times as many resources as Sexy^Orangutang.
Being rather pissed about the huge economic blow dealt to him, Sexy^Orangutang rebulids his economy and decides for a little payback. Taking his remaining mutas, (numbering about 12) he takes them to Chargon's natrual and parks them out of the cannons range. The mutas manage to kill a good number of probes before dragoons and newly morphed archons chase them away. This hardly fazes Chargon, because he still winning the resource war big time. Morphing in a couple more gateways, Chargon simply macros a ton of protoss infantry. From here, it was basically cleanup. Chargon masses zealots, dragoons, and archons, and when he decides he has enough, he charges them up the ramp. Sexy^Orangutang did what he could, but it simply wasn't enough due to his strained resources. The sunkens and random ground troops provide some defence, but the powerful archons simply tear them apart. Sexy^Orangutang's base is torn apart, and GG's were exchanged.
The Final Score:
Lessons Learned
1.Archons rock against zerg. The fiery blue balls totally dominated the weak zerg troops in the last attack.
2.Not a single corsair was made this game, yet Chargon managed to keep the mutas at bay with his archons/dragoons.
Pretty good micro if you ask me.
3.Chargon and Sexy^Orangutang are both really good players, and it was a pleasure watching them duke it out. (Even though it was on temple =) |
