It was a rather ordinary day in Brood War Usa-1000. Suddenly, a game springs up on the infamous ladder map, Showdown. I of course, took the opprotunity to watch, and after a moment of warmup, the game began

Players:

.High+Templar. -- randoms Protoss at North location

Little_Lost_SCV -- randoms Terran at South Location

Not surprisingly, both players spend the first moments building peons. Little_Lost_SCV builds a depot at his choke, while .High+Templar. moves a probe down and begins to build a pylon out of Little_Lost_SCV's sight range. Little_Lost_SCV continues a normal build, with a Barracks at his choke and an extractor, while .High+Templar. builds 2 gateways around his secret pylon.

Unfortunately, just as .High+Templar.'s gateways get up, a wandering SCV spots the pylon, and more SCVs are rushed in to dispatch the pylon and probe. Things look bad for .High+Templar. as his well placed strat falls to pieces as Little_Lost_SCV rips down his fragile offense.

Little_Lost_SCV could have been a contender, but he fails to press the advantage, thus giving .High+Templar. the chance to rebuild, which he of course did. For a while there was a lull in the action, while .High+Templar.'s built a new gate, core, robotics facility and support base at his main, the basic formula for a reaver drop. Little_Lost_SCV built a factory (with machine shop), a starport (with control tower), an e-bay, and some depots. He also built a new command center, with the intention of floating it to the bottom left island.

Finally deciding to press his advantage,Little_Lost_SCV moves 4 marines towards his rival's base. Skirting the hastily erected proton cannons, the marines find themselves in flavour country: right behind .High+Templar.'s mineral line. They had a field day, and many brave probes lost their lives before the threat was neautralized.

Meanwhile, .High+Templar.'s Reaver drop is right on schedule, but he really only manages to kill a few SCVs before his reaver is shreded by tank fire. With this attack foiled, .High+Templar. decides to drop goons on the bottom left expansion. Little_Lost_SCV uses some GOSU micro, and the dragoons fall to his lowly peons.. Not to be daunted, the shuttles return to grab more goons, and finally .High+Templar. catches a break as...

With his opponent weakened, .High+Templar. decides to start pumping Drak templer, and just in time too, as Little_Lost_SCV starts a mighty tank push against .High+Templar.'s fledgling expansion right below his main. . The DTs take out the offending marines and tanks and quickly dispatch the turret/detector his opponent planned to use. All the while, Little_Lost_SCV has ben preparing his revenge, bringint 2 tanks and 2 wraiths to the cliff above .High+Templar.'s now prosperous expansion, which promptly desroys the hard working probes.

Sensing that the game would come to one final battle, Little_Lost_SCV pulls his newly formed unit of tanks, vults and marines to the front of his base. The final blow was about to come, and armed with his long awaited Science Vessels, Little_Lost_SCV had nothing to fear of .High+Templar.'s DT/goon force

Well, the result was predictable, and the combined might of well placed mines and sieged tanks was all it took to destroy .High+Templar.'s desperate attack. Seeing that his doom was at hand, .High+Templar. conceded the game. GGs were exchanged, and everyone went home happy.
