My first report..go easy, k? :):P

The Place- BGH

Teams-
HANKUH!N- Blue Zerg
+=Deathwing=+(me)- Orange Protoss

Webhead- Brown Protoss
KaylaBug- Teal Protoss

After getting my work done for the night, I decided to head onto Battle.net for a relaxing game. Poking around, I saw many games using the infamous BGH, and thought a nice game of mass death would be kinda fun :) I found a 2v2 game, and joined up.

I warped in to the upper left, HANKUH!N infested the middle right, KaylaBug got the lower middle, and Webhead commanded the lower right. Starting out, we decided to try a zealot/lurker combo, so while I went for a 9 probes, pylon, and then 2 gateways, my partner went for 9 drones, spawning pool, hydra den, and 2 extractors.

After putting together 6 zealots, I decided to go scouting a bit, and discovered KaylaBug inching upward through the center with cannons. I commenced attacking, and was able to take out 2 cannons, a probe, and a pylon before zealot and dragoon reinforcements from Webhead arrived. At this point, my partner was beginning to amass hydras and lurkers, and informed me to "build more base!!". Having decided to get cannons anyway, I stopped attacking for a bit and began teching up and expanding, with HANKUH!N doing the same.

A few moments after getting my expansion, KaylaBug attacked it with 5 or 6 carriers. With the help of some of my newly built corsairs and some timely scourge, we managed to destroy 2 carriers and drive the rest away, but not before most of the valiant probes at my expansion died.

After this, my partner began building more scourge and hydra to combat the carrier threat, while I decided to go for a small reaver drop on one of KaylaBug's unprotected expansion. After building 2 reavers and a shuttle, I loaded up and proceded to drop in the peon line of KaylaBug's natural expansion. The reavers managed to destroy all the miners and severly damage the nexus before a battle group of carriers arrived and fried the reavers. While this was going on, Webhead amazingly did a 2 reaver drop on me at the same time, razing the probes at my main base before being killed by some zealots and Dark Templar.

Feeling in a vengeful mood, I loaded up 3 shuttles of dragoons and informed my partner I was gonna attack KaylaBug. With a hearty "ok..", I was on my way, and dropped the dragoons into the peon line at KaylaBug's main base. The dragoons proceeded to gleefuly murder the teal interlopers while goggling at the 6 active stargates nearby. After killing 15 probes or so, A giant group of 15 carriers arrived, and annhilated the dragoons. Immediately after this, I began building many high templar while my partner massed hydras to counter this threat. Also about this time, Battle.net decided it had a grudge against Webhead, and disconnected him.

After repeling a few more carrier attacks with good ole' Psi Storm, we decided it was time for a fatal blow to KaylaBug. With 12 corsairs, a few scouts and some templar leading the way, HANKUH!N attacked en masse with about 40 hydras and the same number of zerglings. Upon reaching teal's main entrance, we discovered a few cannons, and the aforementioned carrier mass. Massed together, however, the hydras were more than a match for the carriers, along with help from my templar and corsairs. Putting up a valiant effort, KaylaBug slowly retreated, with the psi-storm weakened carriers falling to the zerg swarm while trying to hide beneath Arbiters. Once KaylaBug's nexus was reached, there were "gg" said by all, and the prized victory screen popped up.

Lessons Learned-

Cannon protection is essential for your probes when playing protoss...My late-game mineral production was crippled for a while from the reaver/carrier strikes.

When fighting with carriers, massing 5 or 6 in a small area is NEVER a good idea, especialy when playing a 'toss opponent.

There is such a thing as too many carriers...lack of ground troops cost KaylaBug the game during the final attack..

Psi-Storm is the ultimate protoss weapon.....one measly high templar took out 3 carriers with almost no damage..I mean, think about it, with 2 quick psi-storms, you could take out at least 1 or 2 carriers, worth as much as 800 minerals, compared to the measly 50 minerals and 150 gas it took for the templar.

Total Game time- 38:12

Hopefully my next report will have some screenshots ...forgot to take any good ones this time :):P
