"The medic giggles as you show her your Full House. Yes, this game of strip poker is going quite well. 'This time you'll have to take off more than your first aid kit,' you say with a sly wink."

I was sitting at my computer, clicking through some boring websites after winning a very hectic and fast paced free-for-all on the Lost Temple. Eventually, I found myself at battlereports.com, so I decided I'd like to try my talents at battle reporting. I logged into battle.net, and joined channel "clan -x17" to look for some players. In no time at all, I noticed a player by the name of Centuron spamming for a 1v1. I whispered him a request to battle report the game, and he agreed. I joined Centuron's game, and his opponent, anaid, promptly joined. In no time at all, we were under-way!

As would be expected, the map chosen was the Not-So-Lost Temple. Many would agree that blizzard should rename it... But anyway, Magistrate anaid landed his command center at the 12:00 position, while his opponent, the Cerebrate Centuron, spawned at the 7:00 position. I ordered my command center airborne. With the sound of the titanic thrusters, the command center thrust its way into the air, like a floating island. The SCVs, stranded on land, began a battle for rations. A miniature war ensued, with fusion cutters cutting through mechanical limbs, armor, and terran pilots alike. After the dust had settled, Bob rose victorious in his horribly battered SCV. He drove away from the massacre towards the temple, to thank the gods for his glorious victory.

Oh yeah, the battle report. Forgot about that. Both players began their mining (how exciting!). There build orders were as follows:

Anaid began his construction with a barracks with his eigth constructed SCV (his name was Gerald, but lets not get into HIS adventures), followed by a supply depot on his ninth. Once those were done, he built another barracks. Marines looked to be what he was going for early on.

Centuron began a hatchery at his mineral-only, then a spawning pool, and finally a hatchery at his natural. He obviously thought to power his way through this game.

Anaid starts the action by sending a handfull of marines to harass the budding expansions. With an SCV, he erects a bunker right next to the hatchery at Centuron's natural, while attacking the hatchery at the mineral only with a small group of marines. Fortunately for Centuron, his spawning pool finished, and he sent a group of 6 zerglings to eliminate the bunker before it was filled with marines. Their mission was succesful, and anaid's initial probing attack was repelled.

Now both players began to amass their armies. Anaid constructed an academy, followed quickly by a factory. Meanwhile, Centuron builds drones to mine his three bases, and zerglings supported by sunken colonies to defend his organic stronghold.

The lull is broken when Centuron sends a control group of zerglings to assess the extensiveness of his opponent's defences. The mindless creatures charged a large group of marines, heedless of personal safety, concerned only with pleasing their cerebrate, and the Overmind. They were swiftly ground into carrion by the high density slugs fired from the marine's gauss rifles. The resolute terran defences withstained the small attack with no losses.

Anaid decided to counter-attack with a large group of marines and medics. On the outskirts of the zerg hive cluster, the marines inject themselves with their stimpacks, and charged the zerg defences at the mineral-only expansion. The medics turned the tide of this battle, keeping the marines alive long enough to eradicate the zerglings and sunken colonies defending. Ignoring the mineral-only hatchery, anaid orders his forces towards Centuron's natural. A hastily constructed group of four sunken colonies, and a control group of zerglings inflicted heavy casualties before anaid ordered for the survivors to retreat.

The attack repelled, Centuron reconstructed the defences at his mineral-only, and also began to construct a hive.

Rather then allow his opponent to recover, anaid sent a large group of marines and medics, accompanied by a single tank to possibly finish off the cerebrate's base once and for all. The mineral-only was utterly crushed, with very few terran losses. He moved his force of over twenty marines, and half that number in medics, along with the lone tank to attack the sunken colonies guarding the natural. The tank pushed it's braces deep into the ground, and deployed the massive main gun, which was aimed at the nearest colony. A whole six metres long, the gigantic cannon began pumping out an astounding volume of fire at the sunken colonies. The expansion had no chance at all.

Centuron had, at this time, just finished morphing a spire. He created a full squadron of mutalisks to try and combat the massive army anaid had deployed against him. The mutalisks moved in without any fear, and began sending out their odd projectiles, killing many a marine. Unfortunately, the number of marines was simply too great, and the mutalisks were killed by sheer numbers. Sensing that the battle was lost, Centuron got into an overlord and ordered it away from the temple. The cerebrate sent words of respect towards the terran commander, and the terran offerred his respect as well. The zerg had claimed control of the Lost Temple once again. What secrets would they discover in the depths of this citadel?

Lessons Learned
-In ZvT, you need lurkers to combat large numbers of marines.
-Teching faster is better than building a large horde of basic units
-Marines + Medics > Mutalisks, Zerglings
-Tanks > Sunken colonies
