Prelude:
It's been quite some time that i did my last br, and i have to admit i'm a bit rusty but now i'm back you hear me?BACK!!
This game took place in a pretty much messed up bnet. With Diablo's release i find myself constantly in a split and lagging badly. The first 20 minutes or so passed with me getting kicked out off every game i tried to join and yelling in nohunters if anyone could hear me.Rather frustrated with all this crap, but still not wanting to give up on bnet i decided to play vanilla after a long time.
The Game:
Map: Challenger - Cool 1vs1 map, lots of expansions, favors drops with it's winded paths, large mains and island expansions.
Player 1: Dialtone_ : Chose Protoss at 12
Player 2:RobbieT : Randomed to Protoss at 6
The plan:
I started the game with a Reaver drop in mind, along with expanding to the islands. The first pylon went up at 8 and then a Gateway at 11.At this time my probe scout (his name was "Stabs" btw) was sent to investigate what my random choosing opponent was doing. The probe, upon reaching Robbie's base discovered a Gateway and a zealot defending.I tried to order Stabs to steal some minerals but he wasnt fast enough and got wasted by the zealot.Goodbye Stabs, we will remember you for ever...
[ - Are you reeeaaaaady to rumble???? - ]

Looking for an opportunity to do some damage i grabed the first zealot that came out of my gateway along with a probe and sent then both to my opponent's base.Just a few seconds before his choke i noticed 2 zealots guarding and decided to wait for the reinforcements. He didnt seem to noticed my troop since his zealots just stayed there.I kept my zealot&probe just out of sight while pumping out zealots from my now 2 gateways. When the first 3 joined my small force i atacked. My 4 zealots with the probe atacked his 4.The fight ended with me having 2 zealots on red and my probe unscathed.Just as i was ready to go for his worker line again i noticed a zealot coming out of a Gateway and a cannon warping so i pulled them back, losing 1 zealot to cannon fire.

[ - You think you've won? Think again dude - ]
Again i was rallying zealots to his choke and getting ready to atack again.I had a core and a forge added to my main's facilities and a group of 7 zealots, a dragoon and the probe outside his base and ready to swing. I atack moved my forces into his main and started celebrating my victory when i only saw 2 zealots, a dragoon and a cannon to defend. But i found out my celebrations where premature when from the edge of the sceen i saw a small ball of energy..
"Shit!A reaver!"
I decided to go for the worker line, if i atacked the reaver with the zealots he could have just lifted and atacked again, so i chose to send a lone zealot to distract the reaver and send the rest of my forces to his worker line.It worked grand enough, as i killed at least 8 probes before my zealots got blown into oblivion.
At the time i had a shuttle bay and a robo facility online.Seeing the threat of a Reaver drop i warped in two cannons and started producing goons.
As my shuttle was coming out of the bay i noticed a small dot to the east of my base. Not even a second later i heard the "you are under atack" message. Hitting space i saw 2 reavers droped just out of my cannon's range. I was late on pulling back my probes unfortunately and about 10 got blown up and sent to see teir friend Stabs.I managed to kill one of the reavers and forced the other to reatreat in the shuttle and over the hill overlooking my base.Robbie tried to drop again at the other side of my base but with a cannon and 2 dragoons there he retreated the shuttle to the east.... Shit! At the time of his assault to my main i was warping a base on the island to the east. His shuttle flyed over my island just as i was loading a shuttle with 2 dragoons in my base... and then headed north! That was close to losing my expansion, he must have had waypointed his shuttle back home. He noticed it a few second later and tried to get his shuttle back but my just delivered dragoons managed to kill the shuttle before unloading it's deadly cargo.
[ - Mid Game: Ooops, things are getting heated - ]
I had an observatory by then, so i sent 2 observers to scout the map.I ordered both of them to scout the islands in the middle and then waipointed them to the edges of his base. The observers found expansions in both the islands.Dammit! This wasnt looking good. I couldnt allow him to get both expansions. If he did then i was gone for.I decided to go fast for the expansion at the eastern island since the other one already had cannnos warped in it's perimeter and i just didnt have the firepower at the time to throw away the protoss armies from that island.
I loaded 2 shuttles with 4 dragoons and send them there as far as i could... and it was fast enough. With a race against time i unloaded the goons in the south-eastern part of the island in a suicide drop next to a cannon.I managed to kill 2 of the 4 cannons and then killed the cannon supporting the other two. Since he didnt try to save his island i ferried a probe there to start an expansion.
[ - Lets mmmmmaaaammmmmboooo!!!!! - ]
With the additional minerals and gas from the expansions, i had 5 gateways pumping out goons (at least my micro is getting better..or not?) I decided the time was ripe to make my move. I had 24 draggons (1-1-0) at the time and they were itching for some action.I moved them to Robbiew base with a small delay when they received cannon fire from one of the island fortifications.
When my forces reached his base i was in for a surprise. All there was in his base to defend was 3 zealots, a dragoon or two and a couple of cannons. His base went down in seconds with my dragoons taking down every bit of his tech.
And just that time something went "pop" in my head. You know, when everything's going just as you planned it but you know something is wrong? But was there anything to worry about? He had no tech left, only 2 island expansions. With gas...and i still had only 2 shuttles and no stargates... So i sent the observer to the west where his island natural was.And guess what my observer discovered before dying.
[ - Shit!Shit!Crap! - ]
I waped in 4 Stargates and started the scout speed research. No Corsairs since this is vanilla and more dragoons where out of the question. "Too late" i though when i saw a mass of red dots to the west side of my expansion at the east island. It was the interceptors launched from the 8 Carriers that were atacking the base.
I didnt have enough scouts to match the carriers at the time and all i could do was send my goons and try to damage the carriers as much as possible before he could move them over the water into safety. I was too late though, and all i could do in the end was to send the dragoons to guard the route between that island and my last remaining expansion hoping he'd make the mistake to move his carriers into open ground trying to get me while he had the upper hand. I was wrong.
[ - Ok, you're in some deep poo. How fast can you swim? - ]
I knew i was in deep shit at the time but i wasn't going to quit that easy.I had 12 scouts and a bunch of dragoons running around the map while he had carriers. On the downside for me, i didnt have either the mobility or the map control to catch them in time. All i was hoping for was him making a mistake so i could catch his forces off guard and kill them in open ground. I had 12 dragoons "protecting" the route to my island and another 12 at the mineral only i was setting up.I also had a bunch of scouts as a "fast response team".and i was sending high templars with my goons to help take out hallucinations but that wasnt helping much. With him holding map control i could sense that the end was near.
He tried to atack the 8 o'clock natural with 8 carriers again but scouts and goons drove them back killing 2 carriers and losing a few of their numbers. But unfortunatly even that victory wouldn't win me the war.
With every minute he was becoming stronger.I was training more and more high templars at my main along with far mining from the lone gayser to the east, but that wasnt enough to keep up with scout production, and when 12 carriers killed my goons en-route to the island i knew the war was lost.
I was left without gas and mining from only one base to cope with him mining from 2.
After my natural was reduced to rumble i said a gg and asked for vision. It turned out he had all his tech rebuild in his island natural, along with 4 starports.
