Since there is no HTML present, give me a 6 at best. On as side note, SlingsNArrows wants me to plug his channel, channel NoHunters. So go there. Now, enjoy this fiction and the damn hard work that went into it.
Gemini stood on the bridge of the U.E.S. Tainted Sun, watching both his forces and the Protoss base.
The base was commanded by corrupt Dark and High Templar, and had been
attacking several Terran cities in the nearby area. Fleet Command had called upon
Gemini's fleet of Battlecruisers, and Gemini had in turn called upon the best fighters and
pilots known to man. SlingsNArrows and Dialtone both commanded an elite squadron of
Wraiths, and ColonelCollsy flew both a Dropship and a Valk. Wangsonn was aboard a
massive supporting Explorer, and NecrologicZDT was charged with covert ops support.
WarLeaderJustin led a group of Goliaths, which, supplied by a almost unlimited missle
pack and Charon Boosters, were to provide cover for the capital ships, and to help out the
smaller snubfighters. LuckyNewbie, riding in a souped-up Vulture, lead the massive
ground army, and Gemini was in charge of his fleet of Cruisers. A small group of Scouts
fired a volley of missles at the Cruisers. Red-hot lasers shot out from the Behemoths, and
the Scouts fried. The wing of Wraiths shot out to attack, and the Valks spread into
formation. The battle had begun.
Slings shot through the Corsair formation and fired off two missles. They hit one
of the Sairs straight on, and it exploded in a fiery ball. Three missles coming from
Dialtone's fighter burnt the other one, but the third Corsair hit Dial's wingmate five times
before it was brought down. Seven Scouts shot ahead toward the five Wraiths, and
probably would have won if a sudden blast of energy from the U.E.S. Tainted Sun hadn't
turned one into a heap of twisted metal. The wreckage hurled downward, still flaming.
Another two shots wiped out two Scouts, and then the Cruisers turned their attention to
attacking the base and two Carriers.
"All fighters report in," Slings voice crackled over the comm unit.
"Avenger 1 here, lead!" reported Dialtone. "My wing checks out!"
"Avenger 2 here! Good to go!" reported another young pilot.
"Avenger 3 ready for action!" and so on.
"Initiate cloaking device now!" ordered Slings. Dialtone repeated the command,
and soon the squadron scored hit after hit on the confused Scouts. Three were brought
down, then the last one shot Slings's wingmate. The fighter exploded as the missile
cartridge was ripped apart by the opposing weapons.
"What the hell?" Dialtone screamed, and then Slings's voice came over the comm
once again.
"Decloak! I repeat, decloak and and shift power to engines! They obviously have
deployed Observers." The wing of fighters, numbered now four, came into view and fired
a massive volley at the last Scout. Its hull was shredded by the assualt, and it was turned
into a a few shards of metal. Slings looked over his sensors and spotted a mixed wing of
Corsairs and Scouts flying over to meet the four snubfighters. The ace pilot then noticed a
platoon of Goliaths marching beneath.
"Slings to Goliath leader, do you copy?"
"This is WarLeaderJustin, Slings. Whaddya need?"
"Backup would be nice right about now!"
"What? Oh, them. Sure, I'll take care of it..." He cracked his knuckles and put his
hands over the joystick. "Guys, I want you to take care of those Sairs and Scouts up there
and provide our tin cans with a little cover. Ready," he began, switching over to Hellfire
Missles. "Aim!" he yelled, targeting the nearest Protoss fighter just as a Wraith shot a pair
of missles only to be destroyed a second later. "FIRE!" A mass of Hellfire weaponry shot
up into the air and struck the Protoss ships.
"Yee-haw! That support enough for you, Slings?"
"Enough. If you didn't notice, one of my ships was just destroyed."
"If you didn't notice, a whole wing of 'toss ships were just destroyed! WLJ out!"
he looked over his scanners and picked up a large number of Dragoons.
"Guys, switch over to ground attack. Fifteen goons coming in fast!" A hail of
bullets struck the first goon, and it instantly collapsed. The second goon fired off three
bolts. The first two hit the Goliath right next to WLJ, causing it to explode in a shower of
flames and debris. The third struck the leg of another Walker, causing it to collapse. The
Walker sat there, burning. The pilot jumped out and ran for cover, but was incinerated by
the same Dragoon. WLJ let loose a flurry of bolts on the offending 'goon, causing it to
break down and a thick blue paste to ooze from the cracks in the broken exo-skeleton.
Several Vultures skimmed over and began harassing the remaining Dragoons, and a few
groups of Marines opened up. WLJ heaved a sigh, and ordered his team to pull back to
help aid the Cruisers.
Back on the battlefield, LuckyNewbie and his Vultures were having a field day
killing off the slow, lumbering Dragoons. The platoons of Marines, however, were not.
"Pull back to the trees! Do it NOW!" ordered LuckyNewbie as five more Marines
went down. He fired a grenade, and a exo-skeleton crumbled. Two more grenades fired
from around him, and yet another Protoss warrior died a second time. The goons
retreated, and LuckyNewbie could see two Reavers crawling forward.
"Marines! Into cover! Vultures, with me! Use speed to take them down!" he
barked. A barrage of grenades hit the first Reaver, and the Scarabs couldn't track fast
enough to take down the Vultures. The first Reaver exploded. Suddenly, LuckyNewbie
saw a bunched-up group of Marines firing on the last Reaver. "You fools!" he cried.
"Back into cover! Split up! GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF THERE!!" Just then, a single
Scarab flew up to the first soldier and exploded. All five were ripped apart the ensuing
explosion. Blood splashed on Newbie's Vulture, and a vaped head lay nearby.
LuckyNewbie sped behind a tree and let loose loads of grenades. A Scarab came at him,
but it hit the tree and exploded, ripping the tree up but not harming LuckyNewbie. The
second Reaver exploded as five more Vultures continued to pound on it. A Dropship flew
overhead.
Seated in the pilot's seat of the Dropship, ColonelCollsy flew with skill and
precision. In the hold waited 3 Marines, three Firebats, and one Medic. The other Medic
was in the co-pilot's seat, jabbering wildly.
"I dunno about Jack, he's a little weird. Bob MUST be a mental case, because, he,
like, has this fixation on napalm. Bill's like, just cool, but he's going out with Cheryl, and-"
Collsy raised a hand to cut her off. She faced the Medic, and in a calm voice said,
"If you do not shut up this instant and get back in the hold, I will jettison you into
a group of Reavers. Do you understand?" The Medic, stunned, nodded, and rushed back
to confide in Bill. ColonelCollsy rolled her eyes, and saw the designated dropping site. A
few Zealots were milling around, guarding some Probes who were mining and storing the
minerals in a flimsy, small structure. Just before she launched the troops, she made sure
the parachutes were trustyworthy, and said, "Please try to stay alive down there..." Bob
grunted a response.
"Didn't know you cared."
"I don't. I just don't want blood getting splashed on my ship. So get down there
and roast some Zealots!" The hold opened and the troops fell out. The Marines, Firebats,
and the Medic named Cheryl all managed to kill off all of the Zealots and Probes, and
signaled for another ship to come pick them up. The annyoying Medic landed right in the
middle of the operation and was tragically killed by three Zealots five seconds after she
landed. Collsy shook her head. What a shame. Suddenly, a Valk flew overhead, and
stopped. ColonelCollsy stopped the Dropship right under the Valk, and attached the hulls.
Without a word, she climbed up to the Valk and the other pilot down to the Dropship. As
she came to rest in the cockpit, she gave the first order to the wing of ships. "All ships,
move out. Prepare to defend the Cruiser fleet, and provide cover for the snubfighters!"
The wing shot into formation, and a Corsair had the bad luck of trying to shoot Collsy.
Dozens of missles shot out, and in a second the Corsair was nothing but scattered debris.
"Lead, we have ten Scouts coming out to engage. Do we evade or press our
luck?" a pilot's voice came over the intercomm.
"We press, 3," replied Collsy. "I'm feeling lucky today." As her wing launched
volleys of missles, the Scouts replied in kind. Eventually, the Valk wing was down to ten
very damaged Valks, and the Scout wing down to two slightly damaged Scouts. "Ok,
wing, this is Lead. I want you to head back to the Tainted Sun for reloading, repairs, and
refueling. On the double!" she ordered.
"Sure you can handle them lead?"
"Sure I can, 6. Get back to that ship!" As the other Valks shot off, Collsy spun
around to face the Scouts. One was clearly limping, while the other was in good shape.
Her instincts told her to go for the jugular, but she instead targeted the other one. She shot
twelve rockets, and shot down, pulled up on the stick, and rocketed straight up at the
Scout. The Protoss pilot tried to pull away, but he was dead by the time the second volley
of twelve reached him. The second managed to get a hit on Collsy. She felt the Valk being
spun off course, and sparks flew. One more solid hit and she was dead. She closed her
eyes, and prepared for a loud explosion, and then blackness. She heard a fizzle, and
opened her eyes. A massive blue Defensive Matrix covered her ship, and the Scout was
desperately trying to break through. ColonelCollsy hit the firing button, and the Scout
exploded in a mass of psionic pain. Collsy noticed a Explorer floating nearby, and hailed it.
"Falcon Leader to Vessel. Kudos to your commanding officer for saving my life!" she said.
A familar voice came over the channel.
"Just doing my job. Slings wouldn't be too happy if I let you die,"
"Wangsonn? Is that you?" she asked, puzzled.
"Sure as hell is. I got a little cleanup to do. Go and head back to the Tainted Sun for
repairs."
"You don't need to tell me!" she said, and shot off to the hulking Battlecruiser.
Aboard the Explorer, Wangsonn was playing around in the control room after
casually saving ColonelCollsy from certain death. He hit a button, and a loud RING RING
RING filled his ears.
"Do any of you fools know how to shut off this infernal contraption??" he cried,
but everyone ignored him. He hit another button and the sound shut off, though at the
same time he heard a hissing sound.
"I think we may have a gas leak.." he squeaked, but the gas shut off right then.
Suddenly, a thousand chimps with a thousand typewriters came through the door.
Wangsonn had tried to get them to write Shakespeare, thinking it would be the perfect gift
for SlingsNArrows. Bored, he hit a switch. The Holodeck shut off.
Wangsonn walked up to the REAL control room, and was stopped by a comm
officer.
"Sir! We are recieving a transmisson from the U.E.S. Tainted Sun! Gemini needs
to speak with you!" Wangsonn puzzles over this statment.
"Um, well, ok. Put him on!" he replied. The comm officer hit a button, and
Gemini's face appeared on the screen.
"Hello Wangsonn. I need your help right about now..." he started.
"You want me to save your ass AGAIN?" Wangsonn said. Gemini looked
confused.
"Jeebus, I've shot up Zeals with Irradiate, saved your people's butt with DMatrix,
and you want me to come to your rescue AGAIN?" Gemini was not amused.
"Look Wang, we have two Carriers up here engaging. The Valk wing is repairing
and refueling, the Wraith snubfighters are busy taking down Corsairs, and half of my
Cruisers are fighting burning down the base. And three fourths of the ones I have with me
are trying to stop Scouts from eating up the entire fleet!"
"So what do you want me to do?" asked Wangsonn.
"I want you to stick an EMP bomb up their tailpipes. Ok?"
"Fine with me," Wangsonn said. "Wangy over and out!" He switched off the
moniter. "Men, charge the missle!" A small, white missle in the bay of the Explorer was
charged with a constant radioactive pulse. "Aim!" The small missle was aimed at the
Carriers. "Fire!" This small object of Protoss doom was launched from the Science Vessal
and sped toward the Carriers. It shot down the large frontal hole (You know what I'm
talking about) and vanished.
"Where did it go?" asked Wangsonn.
"Vanished. I'll prepare another one..." said a dazed comm officer. Suddenly, a
roaring explosion ripped the Carrier apart. The EMP missle had exploded inside the
engines, and the pulse it let out had shredded the high-energy machinery in the engines. A
huge chunk of the hull slammed into the other Carrier, and they both plummeted to the
ground, flaming wreaks. Wangsonn was astonished.
"Did I do that?" he asked. No one answered, so he shrugged and went back to the
Holodeck.
Crouched low on the ground, NecrologicZDT aimed at the limping Dragoon. With
utmost precision, he fired. The Dragoon exploded, and the five Zealots turned around.
Engaging his cloaking device, Necrologic fired off two shots, killing two Zeals. He heard
an odd humming sound, and saw a distorted shape fly by. The three other Zealots came
after him, and he decloaked to save energy. Above him he saw a loose hanging boulder.
Aiming carefully, he shot it, and it fell from the ledge and crushed the Zealots when they
were not three feet away from him. He fired five random shots into the air, the fifth being
met with a loud noise and a fireball, indicating that the Observer was no longer
operational, to say the least. He climbed a hill and saw a huge amount of Phtonon
Cannons in a delta formation, being powered by three Pylons. A small number of Crusiers
hung back, with good reason. By the time they could take down the cannons, they'd be
toast. Necrologic armed up the nuke he had been given authority to launch. He then saw
two Carriers flying by to engage the Crusiers. In a blinding flash of insight, he changed his
mind and used his sniper targeting system to lock on the the Carriers instead. He fired one
shell at each of them. The shells hit, and the two Protoss ships found themselves victims of
the handy Terran utility known as Lockdown. Necro then armed the nuke, guided it to to
the Pylons, and watched as the cannons, Pylons, and Carriers all exploded in a blast of
total annihilation.
"I think I'll be getting at least a year of leave for that one!" Necro said to himself,
and moved out to attack other targets.
Gemini saw the huge, towering structure that was the Nexus appear before him.
Light shot out from it, a huge psionic matrix working tirelessly to destroy the Terran
forces. It powered the whole base. It was their primary target. It must be destroyed.
"Charge the Yamato Cannons!" he ordered. The massive nuclear device warmed
up on all of his ships. "Target mission priority. The Nexus!" The fleet moved to target the
massive, pyramidal structure. Then, Gemini gave the single-word command that spelled
doom for the Protoss forces. "Fire." Shot after shot poured from the Battlecruisers, as
they threw massive beams of incandescent fury at the Protoss command building. The
shields were rapidly drained under the heavy assualt, and in no time the walls crumbled,
broken by the sheer force of the nuclear weapons. Finally, the standing armor of the Nexus
reached critical pass. A roaring explosion ripped through the building, breaking down
armor and shields, killing anything that got in its path. Finally, when the dust cleared, their
lay nothing but broken wreckage. Gemini heaved a sigh. It was all over. Or so he thought.
"Commander! We are tracking multiple Protoss signals assaulting the fleet!"
screamed the comm officer.
"Dammit! How did they get through?" yelled Gemini.
"An Arbiter slipped around us! Its generating a cloaking field around two
Carriers!"
"Goddammit! Fire on that Arbiter!" ordered Gemini. The weapons warmed
up...and failed. "What the hell happened?" yelled the agitated commander. The comm
officer replied quickly.
"We and the rest of the Crusiers are trapped in a Stasis Field. Normally we too
would be frozen, but since we are in a vessel, only the ship is frozen. Although we cannot
be damaged, we cannot move nor can we attack."
"Dammit!" yelled Gemini. "We can't even get a radio signal through! Its all up to
Sling's wing to take out that damn Arbitor!"
Slings had the same thought. On seeing the Cruisers frozen in Stasis Field, he had
ordered all fighters to enagage the Arbitor. However, as soon as they got close enough to
fire...
"What the hell? I'm being hit multiple times by many small targets!" yelled
Dialtone.
"Carriers! Dial, get outta there!" Slings ordered.
"Can't!" cried Dialtone in desperation. "Propulsion systems are down! Armor
reaching critacal pass! I'm going down! Aaarg!!" His Wraith, bombared by the
Interceptors, died a fiery death.
"Dialtone!" screamed Slings. "Dammit! All fighters with me! That Arbiter is dead!"
He soared in, juking and dodging little plasma blasts. A anti-matter bolt shrieked past him,
and hit a Valk on Collsy's wing, ripping it apart. Slings knew he would get only one shot.
The Explorers were rushing forward, but were too far away to help. He aimed his
weapons into the Arbiter, and fired the missles. Never had two seconds seemed so long, as
those two missles streaked toward the Arbiter. However, they flew straight and true, and
the Protoss cloaking ship was vaporized in a massive energy-feedback explosion. The
Carriers came into view, and the Battlecrusiers, now freed from stasis, turned the full fury
of the Terran fleet on them, and the last remnants of the once-proud Protoss warband was
destroyed, victims of Terran Vengeance. |
