It was one of those days when I have way too much time, no friends to play bnet with and decided to check out what's happening on Bnet. I don't even remember why I chose a 7v1comp SCV rush game, this would be my first, and it turned out to be more than I expected.

Well, this game was played by me (afk) , hosted by Peoples, and three others, I believe their handles were Stickboy and MINERVA (or something like that) and a third I cannot remember (you'll find out why in a bit). The games was a simple 7v1c SCV rush. But again, the people I was playing with were impatient so we went ahead with 5v1c.

Just a brief picture of where everyone was
My base was at the 6 O'clock Position
People's base was at the 9 O'clock Position
Stickboy's base was at the 5 O'clock position
MINERVA's base was at the3 O'clock position
and the last player's base was in the 7 O'clock position.

Check the included minimap to see where they are exactly.

OK, so what is there to report? Here goes:

My plan: My base was at the 6 O'clock position, by instinct (from playing competitively with friends) I had started building SCVs mad fast, hoping I could go in equipped not with my meager 4 SCVs but with 7 or 8. preferrably with 10, 2 left mining in case i need to rebuild . In hindsight, I was playing it too safe.

What happened: On the outset of the game, the fourth player with whom I cannot recall his screen name was disconnected from lag and his Zerg base next to me fell silent. The remaining 3 players (except me) sent their SCVs on a mad search for the 1 computer. They were lucky and hit pay-dirt in their first try and point the protoss base at the 1 O'clock position. By the time they destroyed all the protoss probes, I had 6 SCVs, was ready to go for 7 when it appeared that my services will no longer be needed as my allies already had the protoss well controlled. I decided that insead of just watching, I'd try practice my build order in a regular melee game to warm up for the next game. (yes, I haven't played in a while) I started building 2 depots, and 2 barracks, plus 2 bunkers (one by the entrance to the town and the second one close to my command center) By this time, my ComSat station was near complete.

As my allies wrapped up their conquest and the nexus started to burn my second barrack was compete and 1 was pumping out marines. And the insults started to fly. "Players", and maybe a "Stickboy" called me a few names, asked why I didn't help out and said I was confused. I told them we had won and that was that. But the glory he was experiencing was perhaps a little to great and he would not let up. He did not realize that by not joining thier SCV rush, I was well equipped financially and in terms of build order to retaliate. I decided what better way to warm up than to try my chance at taking on my 3 , former allies. I promptly unallied myself (i left the vision on to keep the illusion) and began war preparations. By the time the nexus and the last of the protoss structures were destroyed, they all gathered around the base waiting for the victory proclamation. It never came. Again, People's started calling names, and mispelt the world "confused" everytime he used it, which didn't help soften his image as an arrogant kid. I didn't say anything and it took them about a minute before they realized what was happening. One of them commented that "This is the real game now" and when I saw that, I decided it was time to turn off vision, and they did the same. By this time, I knew I had the element of surprise. They did not know I had an army, and as they rushed their SCV back to their bases, my 1st army of 10 or so marines was on the move. The first target was MINERVA. His SCVs were taken out one by one and i had began to pound on the command centre when a quick ComSat scan revealed Stickyboy, beside me at 5 O'clock was preparing for war and his SCVs busy mining. The attack on Minerva's command center was broken off and I send the detachment to Stickboy's base. Again, his SCVs were taken out, but again, through my sheer sloppyness I had let his command centre lift off and fly to safety.

This was pretty much when I considered I might be defeated. But again, inexperience was on my side. They had not changed chat channels and I continue to receive a continous stream of mostly useless chatter. Nothing of strategic importance but from what I was able to discern, they were confident they would win and the only information of strategic value was the information that the 2 players, MINERVA and Stickboy had landed their command centers in Peoples' base, concentrating their forces. This didn't help me psychologically at all, and because I had gambled on taking the two players closest to me first, Peoples, the obvious leader, was left untouched and he had hunkered down quickly after watching his allies' SCVs killed off. Through this time, my barracks had finished the few marines I had on queue and I returned home having slowed the progress of 2 players leaving the third untouched and only marginally increasing my army. I also made another mistake. Instead of committing my forces immediately I began more marine production, build a supply depot along with an academy, engineering by and a factory.

When I decided to go on the offensive again, precious time was lost and I had lost precious advantage. I sent the same set of marines to Peoples' Base but the time for easy pickings were over. I was met with a wall of bunkers and the entire army was squashed with easy. This called for a change in strategy. From experience I knew that upping my marine production alone for a second charge ain't going to do it. I put my factory to work and produced a vulture. Then began to work on my Siege tanks. By this time, I also had an armory up and I was building going through the standard build order in order to get to science facility (so that I can upgrade my marines beyond level 1). While the wait was on for the tanks to come out, I began pumping out marines and firebats. Peoples sent an expeditionary assault force of 4 marines to my base, apparently thinking since he had slaughtered my first army 3 minutes early, I was exposed. But I had already completed my first set of 12 mixed (marin/bat) army, with my second set of 12 mixed army near finished when the attack came and aside from taking some damage no serious harm was done. Peoples made the most of his failed attempt and used it as a reconnaissance mission. Still talking in the open channel, I saw Peoples tell his allies that they new "about 20 more", I assume referring to the number of units they'd need to amass to rush me based on what he saw when he attacked. But he didn't realize I had moved an entire army away from the entrance before he attacked and he had underestimated my numbers.

Playing it safe, I built a second bunker on the other side of my entrance and sent my lone vulture to mine my natural expansion just outside my base and mine the entrance to Peoples' base. But I was to be surprised. Peoples had move up his defenses farther out. He now had two lines of defenses (see picture). Having this piece of information, I decided it was now or never. I massed forces and sent my tanks (4 of them) and 36 units of marine/firebat groupings to the spot just above Peoples' first line. (If you're looking at the map, it would be the red line.) The tanks went to Siege mode and they began pounding away at his bunkers. Peoples popped his marines out of the bunkers hoping he would have easy pickings. Not to be the case. I quickly moved in my marines and surrounded my tanks with them. Peoples charge was ineffective. With his first line of bunkers gone, I move my marines forward for cover, then began the slow process of moving my tanks forward. (If you're looking at the map, it would be the teal line.) By this time, Stickmen and Minerva had seen my attack and rushed their marines forward. There were about 20 of them in total, but with my higher tech builds, my marines and bats was able to hold the second wave in check as my tanks took their position infront of the second line of defense. Peoples had by this time popped his remaining marines of his second line of bunkers but his own defenses proved to work against him. Stickmen and Minerva's rushing marines were forced to move in a single file line in between the bunkers and they proved too easy for my marines to pick off. Peoples reacted to slowly after he popped out his s and several of them were killed when the tanks fired on the groupings. In less than a couple of minutes, I had overran their lines. Having spent all their forces in the second rush, my marines marines and firebats moved in with no opposition and began tearing down the base. But the game wasn't over. Peoples had built an expansion base at the 11 O'clock position and was quickly mining with SCVs. I only discovered this after most of his base was destroyed. Minerva dropped out of the game after his last bunker was destroyed and I quickly used the Comsat to check the usual locations for other expansions. Stickmen had lifted off his commanded center during the attack and I had lost track of it. But having found Peoples' expansion, I moved in my marines to deal with it. But Peoples wasn't eliminated. He had buildings left in the bottom corner of his map. I was furiously searching for Stickem with a new group of marines I ordered from my barracks but to no avail (note that I didn't have to micro time to search a lot of the out of the way spots in the map so I assume Stickmen was hiding in one of those spots.)

After finishing off Peoples' last building, Stickmen was the last one left. But still no sign of him. I suppose wherever he was hiding out, he either ran out of minerals to build SCVs or ran out of hope. He too surrendered and I won without destroying Stickemn's command center :)

Just a note. For the last 10 minutes, they either stopped chatting or smartened up and switched channels. I did not receive any communication at all from the players. I wonder what they said.
Here ends my battle report. This is not my most glorious victories, but there is a tinge of satisfaction in what I did. I know its not entirely ethical, but for those of you who were ever slighted by inexperienced arrogant players, take note that someone feels your pain. I'm not the best player out there as you can see from my many mistakes but I do feel a sense of justice(?) in doing this. But stil, this is not my prodest moment.
