Starcraft: Rebel Forces

"Hope. It's the last thing you expect to feel when you're alone on the sector rim. Your next meal is an uncertainty and you don't know what is waiting for you in the night. The conditions are terrible, with fear and death as your companions. Yet we carry on and try to keep that one last spark of hope alive. I tried to leave the soldiers life and settle down, away from the wars and conflict. I gave Mengsk my resignation and he through me in jail. "A coward is not a man who should be general." Call me a coward. I had done my job and I wanted to leave. He couldn't have that, he thought that jail would change my mind. I spent a week in that Hellhole and then a rebel faction stormed the gates and freed the prisoners. Mengsk wasn't counting on that. One of the rebels recognized me and I met with the faction commander. I told him that I would eliminate the Dominion and its glorified leader. All I needed was an army and a ship. The rebels were enthusiastic to say the least, and every single one of them pledged their life to my name. Now, I'm back in a new war and the fighting will continue. Never a days rest for a general, never."

General Harper tried to get some sleep but his mind was elsewhere. His world had changed dramatically and he was unsure of his next course of action. He had a small rebel army and a lone battlecruiser. He needed supplies, more soldiers and a fleet of ships. All of these would be expensive or unattainable. Of his three necessities, supplies were the most urgently needed. Rations were almost gone and many of the men hand no bullets for their rifles. The group had no money and a raid was the only way they could get any food or ammo. A small Dominion outpost was the nearest target and Harper was ready for a fight. It was strange fighting Dominion soldiers after he had spent his life leading raids against rebel forces like the ones he was now a part of. Sleep did not come easily for Harper and the morning was not far off.

On Korhal, morning had come and gone, and Mengsk was receiving word that the prison that Harper was in, had been raided by rebel soldiers. Harper was nowhere to be found and was listed as a fugitive. Mengsk was far from pleased and he immediately put a bounty on Harper's head. Mengsk also ordered to find a replacement to command the Police Fleet. He wanted Harper found and the Police Fleet had been without a commander for too long. Of all his generals, not one man stepped forward to take command. The police fleet was an awful assignment and it had little to no perks. You were constantly on the move with little or no rest. You faced rebel attacks or even zerg attacks with no back up in any form. Mengsk announced that the bounty contract on Harper's head had been raised to one million Dominion credits. Bounty hunters and a few lone soldiers came to try and get the bid to capture Harper. Mengsk met with these so-called bounty hunters, but all he saw were incompetent fools. Mengsk was ready to send his own army after Harper, but one last man demanded to speak with Mengsk. He claimed to have fought with Mengsk during the Brood Wars and he was at the Tarsonis Platform in the fight against Kerrigan. Mengsk was intrigued and he agreed to hear him out. The man was lead into the throne room and which was empty. A screen was lowered and Mengsk appeared on it.

"You must forgive my impersonality, but one can not be too careful these days."

"I completely understand emperor."

Mengsk look the man over and saw he was rather young. He wore a soldier's uniform and had the stripes of a major.

"You're awfully young to be major. How did you come to that rank?"

"I was promoted quickly during the war emperor. I served under your command during the Platform Battle against the zerg."

"Yes, I was informed of that. I was unaware that there were any survivors."

"When your fleet withdrew a few dropships were able to pick up a few lone survivors. I was lucky."

"Indeed you were, and now you wish to attain the bounty for Harper."

"I wish to replace Harper as commanding general of the Dominion Police Fleet. Collecting the bounty will be an added bonus."

"A man with ambition, I like that up to a point. What makes you qualified to command one of my fleets."

"I am a dedicated soldier and I have served you faithfully in the past. I also am aware that no other Dominion general wants the job."

"A fact I am well aware of. Very well, if you want command of the fleet then I shall grant it to you. But be warned, if you try to take advantage of my good faith. I will make you pay with a heavy, heavy price. Do you understand?"

"Perfectly emperor. I shall not disappoint you. I swear it."

"Very well, you will meet with the fleet commodores tomorrow. I want you to find Harper and bring him back alive."

"And if something unfortunate should happen?"

"Then sometimes, unfortunate things occur. You are dismissed General…"

"Stevens. Alex Stevens."

"I will see you tomorrow then, General Stevens."
