Welcome to the first ever TheGameAh report

Let’s get this party started.

Welcome to the first ever

TheGameAh report. None of you know me, which isn’t a surprise. Besides dropping an occasional forum message, my name lies in relative obscurity. However, my skills have been improving as of late. I’m nowhere near elite status yet, and I probably never will be. However, I played a very good game this morning, and actually decided to take some screenshots. I used some tactics acquired from this site, so I’ll try to improve on my rating by thanking Battlereports.com.

Like the master of this site, Johnny_Vegas, and our General Heartcutter, I play Terran only. I have trouble with the Protoss due to their high costs that I can’t adjust to. And I simply find the Zerg boring. Seige tanks, marines, medics, ghosts and nuking, SVs, golies, vultures, . . . Where can you go wrong? Terrans rule.

Anyway, enough plugging and introductions. On to the game.

The map was the ladder map known as the Lost Temple. (shocker there huh?) It was a 2 on 2 with my partner,

proxsemameter, morphing in as Zerg by choice at the 9 o’clock spot. I, TheGameAh landed the ol’ Command Center at 3 o’clock. The bad guys, FaRtMaRt (what’s the appeal with the switching of the uppercase and lowercase in the name?) and .user went with random and received Zerg at 6 o’clock and Terran at 12 o’clock respectively.

There weren’t any surprises during the early game. I walled in and decided to go with the safe double rax build while teching to stim and medics.

Fart decided to go with three hatches, one at the ramp, and tech to hydras. .user walled in at his ramp, so I didn’t get any recon on him.

About five minutes into the game I realize that my partner,

prox, hasn’t sent an overlord at all to scout anyone. I shift over to his base and see a spawning pool. No lings, no sunkens. I didn’t realize that newbies played on Lost Temple. I was a little disappointed, but if you do a stats on my account, you’ll see that I don’t give a rat’s ass about my record.

It didn’t matter anyway, because about a minute later he was disconnected. It was now officially a 2 v 1 with me and my horrible record against 2 guys with winning records.

I decide to make the first move. What have I got to lose, right? I take a group of M&M’s along with 1 solitary tank and an SCV down to

Fart’s main. I build an engineering bay at the natural and perform the infamous Terran float trick, while buildling a turret for possible lurkers. I float the bay and destroy the sunkens guarding the ramp. He sent hydras to counter, but as you can see below, hydras fall relatively quickly to upgraded M&M’s. Not to mention these marines were trained by Drill Sergeant Hartman (the badass from Full Metal Jacket, in case you didn’t know), so there were no fatbody Gomer Pyles in my marine squad. I use this to expand to my natural and get it up and running.

As you can see in this screenshot,

.user tried using drop squads to assist his partner, but they fell as well.

I wondered since

.user had dropships why he didn’t drop my main. As soon as the thought hit, I saw a glob of white in my main on the mini-map. I go back to my main, expecting to call a "gg", only to see that my two walled in tanks, one turret for detection, and bunker have removed most of the drop. I didn’t really see what the drop consisted of, but there were five dropships, so I guess it must have been large, unless some were there for decoys.

Fart

the Zerg is done now. The Terran Juggernaut has completely wiped out his main. I see he escaped a few drones, but I’m not really expecting to win this game, so I didn’t exactly kick myself in the nuts.

I leave some token troops at 6 o’clock and camp out outside my Terran traitor’s base. He tries another unsuccessful drop. I see he has expanded, but not defended it. I attempt a cliff drop on his natural (sorry, but I’m not really fond of the term Turbo Newbie). During this attempt is when I learn that he has cloakable wraiths. I hate wraiths, but I have two scanners up and running. A few scans go by and his wraiths are toast. However, he repelled my cliff drop. So I stim my marines and order them to go to work on the expansion, which of course I probably should have just done in the first place.

I also use this as a chance to float a CC to the bottom island. I’ve been teching up the infantry tree the whole time. I have ghosts to supplement my army. I land the CC at the island and build a nuke silo. I’ll say it again, Terrans are fun.

I couldn’t climb

.user’s ramp. He has the high ground mixed with troops and a turret. However, I notice he only has one tank for ramp defense. This is where I reach into my back pocket and pull out the Pimp Move of the Game, as shown by the shot below.

I didn’t have enough energy to sustain a cloak, so I d-matrixed my ghost, scan, and fire a lockdown canister at the tank. I got hit, but the shiny blue armor held true to it’s billing, allowing me to lockdown the tank.

Send in the troops.

I wipe clean through

.user’s base like Ron Jeremy in a porno movie. His troop count was low due to his unsuccessful drops on my main. During this attack, I notice that Fart the Zerg has tried to rebuild at the 9 o’clock natural. I quickly destroy it with M&M’s.

Unbelievably, the bad guys ask for an allied victory. I’m stunned. If me and a partner just lost to one person, I wouldn’t have the balls to ask for a win. Nevertheless, while I’m irradiating SCV’s at

.user’s last desperate expansion attempt at the top island, I decide to ally. However, as you can see from the minimap, they had nothing left. I really did win a 2 v 1. I didn’t even have to start dropping the nukes.

Lessons learned: (I’m sure most of you already know this)

  1. Records don’t mean a damn thing. My record is still horrible, but I’m not really that bad of a player.
  2. I kept both
.user and Fart from expanding. This was huge. It allowed me to build a bigger army and keep the pressure on.
  • In 2 v 1’s, do NOT turtle. They probably expected me to, and thus shit their pants when they saw the Terran Juggernaut coming for them. It’s hard to use a mouse while wiping your ass, which may be a part of why I won.
  • Despite the arguments I see constantly, the concept behind Heartcutter’s bunkerless defense idea WORKS. I added a bunker anyway, but the depots did their job, absorbing some crucial hits.
  • I love ghosts.
  • Terrans rule. (And 1.08 is just around the corner)
  • Don’t let losses hurt your confidence. With each loss, take away something and learn. You will get better, there is no doubt about it.
  • Battlereports are both fun and hard to do.
  • Thanks for reading my first battlereport. Criticism and compliments are appreciated. Be gentle though

J Here are some more screenshots for your pleasure.

    I am

’s excuse to being on the losing end of a 2 on 1.

    The Terran Juggernaut finishing up

    Fart once and for all.

My initial reaction to a request for an allied victory. Peace won out though.

The final score. Chalk one up for the Terrans. 1.08, here we come!
