This being my first report, I simply must say this: it may suck, it may horribly suck, and it may only be fit for homeless bums who drink Miller Lite 24/7. But thats ok! Everyone needs a start, even if it may be a total abomination of a start. Ok, I'll shut up now. On with the report.

CAST AWAY:
A TALE OF HONOR AND HUMILITY

Melee Game

A brief profile on our competitors:

(Zerg) Blues385: This guy, for all I know, is one of the best rushers I've ever seen. HIs ability to mobilize zerg forces and totally annihilate everything could be described by an old 70's term: groovy, VEERY groovy.

(Terran)~Hot~Rod~: Yep, me. At this point in time, I've been playing BW for...oh....2 years i think. I had not yet reached the peak of my skills (I still haven't, I keep getting better, mwahahaha!), so I was a bit rusty, and had to depend on those cheap strategies to win. This was the turning point for me. THIS....is the story.

THE BATTLE

Blues starts at the 12:00 position while I start at the 2:00 position. I have gone 7 SCV, then early barracks and depot. Blues was going for a 4 pool win. If anyone is not familiar with the 4 pool rush (AND I DONT THINK ANYONE SHOULD!!), he saved money till 150, made a pool, made a drone, waited for ANOTHER 150, made zerglings upon the pool's completion, and sent them to hunt me down.

Sadly, the hard working SCVS on the ramp, who made a desperate attempt to slow the zerglings down, failed miserably and died a horrible, horrible . At this point I had completed my eng. bay, and was about to construct a turret near my entrance with a bunker too. This never happened, obviously, due to the carelessness of my build order and the fierceness of these...these...little clawing freaks of Hell!

Unwilling to submit to Blues, I bravely ran away. I have around 340 minerals, a burning barracks, an eng. bay, and c.c. . The barracks explodes while in transit, but the eng. bay and cc make it safely to the island expansion at the bottom right corner. Then I rush to action.

Having limited room for my buildings, I plan a massive micromanagement-wraith strategy. Making Scvs and depots constantly, I sprinkle turrets along the borders of my island. I make another barracks, lift it, make a factory, lift that as well, and finally a starport, which would be followed by 3 more starports crunched together. For safety reasons, i throw in a side order of a bunker with marines near my cc.

Towards the completion of the first starport, an overlord spots my position. After my turrets bring it down in flames, a long, horribly awful quietness settles on the field, like a thick cloud of mist. Expecting a huge hydra drop, I made numerous wraiths with cloaking to counterattack.

Shortly after I make 7 wraiths, I hear that awful, sinister, spitting noise of the floating abominations floating my way (aka guardians, doosh bags..), followed by the familiar screams of his mutalisks. Blues has about a mediocre air armada that blocks me from escaping.

But did I mention that I have wraiths with cloaking? And did I mention that he had NO overlords at all in this army for detection? Hmm...I dont think I did.

The battered zerg army flees in all directions, with my wraiths hunting them down, one by one. At about this time, 8 new wraith pilots enlist to the protection of my backwater outpost. Soon, 16 mutalisks with the company of around 4 overlords come to destroy my group of wraiths already wreaking havoc.

Blues, my friend... the havoc has just begun.

My newly acquired wraiths stumble upon what appears to be Blues's base. And oh my! No defenses whatsoever! All i find are a horde of drones and overlords, not to forget a spire, with the words "Kill me! Kill me!" written all over them.

Blues has no expansions to take advantage of, and having not made a hydra den, and with the destruction of his spire by my fleet, Blues is helpless. He surrenders and disconnects from the game. ~Hot~Rod~ is the victor.

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM THIS GAME:

For blues:
Rushing is fine, but don't neglect a strong defense and plenty of different units to counter my attacks with. You had only zerglings and mutas, which were easily countered by my wraiths; also, your base was defenseless! Spore colonies would have wiped me out!
For me:
Dont screw up your starting build order!! You were lucky to have survived! Modify your strategy to combat cheap, early rushes.

VICTOR: ~Hot~Rod~
