Starcraft. You'd think after it stopped appealing to me I would've stopped playing it altogether. Well, that WOULD have happened, but as fate would have it, many of my friends suddenly got re-addicted to the game, and thus I was begged to join. At first I was wary of venturing back to the hallowed grounds of Battle.net, but it was the winter holidays, and I was bored, so yet again I played.

Yeah. Eventually I remembered how I used to come to BR.com all the time, to try to shake that stink of newbie-ism from me with a plethora of tactics and strategy from which I could readily absorb. That didn't really work, and I never really got to be a very good player. I realized this when I wrote a report (My only SC report up to now) and was flamed by the errors of my blatant inexperience. Still, I do not profess to have gained some magical wisdom that makes me worthy to comment on strategy, I have just realized that it's all about the way you present the facts. Or lack thereof, anyway...

Thus I give you:

Snazzy, ain't it?

Whew. That's a mouthful. I know what you're thinking, "Plauged and Rage? What kind of freako names are those." You meandering miscreant. What you SHOULD be thinking is, "Adolf Hitler and Mr. T? I'm intrigued! Perhaps I should read on, and, if I'm a rater, give it a fair score!". That's the way.

On to the game! After much difficulty I was able to procure two reasonably skilled combatants, 'RaGE.!! , hereafter His name is Rage, and [iK]pLaGueD, hereafter His name is Plagued.

And as for the two aforementioned superstars of popular culture and world history, respectively, I have decided to keep their comments in the alt-text area, thus making it appear that I have adorned my report with some sort of biting humor, when in fact I have just found an excuse.

Oh yeah, His name is Rage n' His name is Plagued. Almost forgot about them...

His name is Rage has been given Terran at the 9 o'clock position, while His name is Plagued has recieved Zerg at the 6 o'clock position. When I think 'red', I think of kittens

It appears that His name is Rage has constructed two Barracks and a Depot at his choke. Meanwhile, His name is Plagued has constructed a spawning pool at his main, and is morphing a hatchery at his natural expansion. He proceeds to build an extractor and a second hatchery at his main, whilst placing a few sunkens next to his newly finished hatchery at his natural.

By now His name is Rage has almost finished construction of a second Command Center in his main, and has about 15 or so marines. He lifts off a command center and a barracks and lands them in his natural, guarding them with the marines.

Back at His name is Plagued's main, he has morphed in a Hydralisk Den, and has converted one Hatchery to a Lair. Shortly thereafter he constructs a Spire, and begins to hatch some Mutalisks.

His name is Rage has made his first factory by now, and while I'm there I see that he also has a Comsat attached to his first Command Center.

Looking at His name is Plagued....

Have you ever seen an ecclipse?

His name is Plagued snaps up the expansion to the north of his main, guarding it with his mutalisks. While he's at it, he takes the 1 o'clock expansion, as well as the 3 o'clock expansion. He has produced about 20 hydras, and positions them in the base to the north of his main.

His name is Rage, subconciously trying to stay in the expansionist game, begins to construct a command center by the expansion to the east of his natural. A strolling overlord sees this, and phones in the sighting to His name is Plagued himself.

You know, if you look head on at an ecclipse, you'll burn your eyes out. His name is Plagued, obviously a little wary of trying to take out the Command Center with an Overlord, shifts into gear, sending up the hydralisks from his second expansion to deal with the threat. Easily taking the Command Center and the SCV vicariously gaurding it, the hydras move west to His name is Rage's natural.

Upon arrival, His name is Plagued's Forces are hit by the marines. Despite back up provided by a half-dozen Mutalisks, the assault on the natural fails, (Good for me, as that would have made for a pretty lousy report) and His name is Rage's marines move out to the temple area in the center of the map.

One time, I got a pair of binoculars and stared at the sun for over an hour On the wave of happiness associated with that victory, His name is Rage mobilizes the marines again, targeting the 2 o'clock and 3 o'clock expansions. On arrival, he splits the force into two halves, each to take out a base. His name is Plagued becomes aware of the assault and sends a force of hydras to deal with it.

The two o'clock expansion's defense of two Sunken Colonies is quickly razed by the marines, and they move on to eliminate the rest. The three o'clock, however, doesn't fall so easily. By the time His name is Rage's marines eliminate the sunkens there, the hydralisks have caught up to them, and easily slay the remaining humans. Moving north, these hydras eliminate the marines celebrating over the victory at 2 o'clock.

Meanwhile, His name is Rage has established a new expansion at the 10 o'clock expansion, and His name is Plagued does likewise at the 12 o'clock. His name is Rage does a sweep of the area and finds the hatchery, most likely thinking "How dare he expand there" or something. Instead of acting on the discover, he is forced to defend, because....

Why'd I do that? I dunno. I guess I'm curious. In fact, a couple of my friends call me whiskars, because I'm curious as a cat.

Now complemented by Gaurdians, His name is Plagued's force of said gaurdians (6) mutalisks (more than 6) and hydralisks (over quadruple than more than 6) makes a move from the nearest expansion. This could be the defining moment in the game..... this could be....

Oh, sorry, one of my friend's sister is IM'ing me. I was a little peeved that she dare to disturb such a moment, so I decide to post it in my BR, interrupting the point in which she interrupted me.

Shopgrl903: hey chick!
Shopgrl903: ha!
RadariG: Uh... heya.
Shopgrl903: y'd ya leave
RadariG: Because.
RadariG: That's why:-)
Shopgrl903: ohhh
RadariG: Well, I guess I could've stayed and watch him play Shenmue all night:-)
Shopgrl903: yeah! hes like ryan!
RadariG: heh. He did give me a turn though.
Shopgrl903: one turn
RadariG: So he's not entirely like Ryan there.
Shopgrl903: almost!
RadariG: Hmm... Don't let him hear you say that.
RadariG: Or he'll pick you up and take the computer :-)
Shopgrl903: notta chance
RadariG: righto.
RadariG: :-)
Shopgrl903: Ü
RadariG: ok...

Just kidding. I'd be a pretty lousy reporter if I talked to her for that long while the game was going on. She IM'ed me when I was writing this part, so I felt that I should include it, for reasons that shouldn't involve you, you ninny-noo you.

Anyway...

Say, we all know the moon isn't made of green cheese, but what if it was made of spare ribs? Would you eat it then? His name is Rage sees the attack coming, so he sends forth as many Marines as possible. A front of fighting builds as the two sides duke it out. Balls of Gaurdian plasma-stuff go flying through the air, hydralisks spray ooze everywhere, and Marines continue to buzz away with those gun-thingies. After all is said and done about 4 Hydralisks and a Gaurdian remain alive from the skirmish, but as they move in they are taken out by the backup troops His name is Rage had been holding.

He seems to do best after he just barely wins battles

Just as before, His name is Rage follows the victory at his natural by attacking an expansion. This time, he decides on the 12 o'clock. Say, would you rather be the top scientist in your field, or have mad cow disease?Running his troops in two lines, he runs by the 1 o'clock without firing on it. Once again he easily takes the defenses lying around the expansion, and it seems that his biggest problem will be, again, the oncoming retaliation forces. However, he is able to destroy the 12 o'clock before said forces arrive.

He had left six Marines at the base entrance, but these offered little resistance to the hydras. As they moved into the base, they were joined by Gaurdians, and the marines, having just finished off the extractor, moved in for some Zerg stomping. The stomping ensued, but it soon appeared that His name is Plagued had some intent for a Human stompin'. Both sides proceeded to stomp each other, until every marine and hydra was killed, leaving only the Gaurds. They then headed to....surprise....His name is Rage's natural. This offensive dies out quickly, as some marines are able to take out the intruders as those flying thingamabobs attempt to take out some SCVs.

Say, if you were a hot dog, and you were hungry enough, would you eat yourself? Well, at this point, His name is Rage seems to be at an obvious disadvantage, controlling only two areas still producing minerals, to His name is Plagued's four.

I know I would. I'd smother myself in relish and pickles, I'd be delicious.

Wait... that's a lame title...

For the first time this game, His name is Rage produces offensive units other than Marines, and throws a couple of tanks into the mix. Whoo hoo. As I'm inspecting variousMy favorite planet is the sun. His name is Plagued expansions, I look on the mini-map and see a line of red moving across the map. His name is Rage is on the move. Heading straight from his natural at 9 o'clock to the 3 o'clock enemy expansion, his troops stretch across the map. His name is Plagued, seeing this at some point, shoves his hydras up the gut of the terran advance, creating a swell in the line, as the terran troops stop to take their shots at the cute little Zerg creatures.

After both sides take mutually high losses, they move away from each other; His name is Plagued moving the remaining hydras to the east, and His name is Rage moving the remaining Marines to the north. Unfortunatly for the Zerg-commander, you can't beat a force of Marines four times the size of your Hydra squad. The Marines move on to decimate the 3 o'clock position, then head north to the 2 o'clock, sacking it as well.

The remaining marines headed north with newly trained reinforcements, with which they easily take the 1 o'clock and the newly created 12 o'clock Zerg encampment.

After this great string of success, His name is Rage moves south to attempt another extermination at the expansion in the northeast of the center of the map. Perhaps he was pushing his luck, or fate, or both, because this time he was outnumbered by hydralisks in a fairly large margin, and lost all remaining men. But still, to take out four expansions in a few minutes is pretty good work.

Vor das Ende zu das Ende

I like it because it's like, the king of the planets.Shortly before his rampage on the expansions, His name is Rage built an expansion under the 12 o'clock. Well, after the string of Terran victories ended, the Hydras that had destroyed the last of the Marines moved to that little expansion, and started to ransack it. Marines were sent, but they were too little, too late, and some Mutas joined in to finish it off.

His name is Plagued was not one to let an opportunity pass him by. Knowing that Marines were very low in number at the moment, he launched an attack with the same units used to destroy the previous expansion, and was able to eliminate the west-of-His name is Rage's-natural-expansion-expansion. After this, His name is Plagued pulled the units back to wait for reinforcements....

After a few dozen hydras came in, His name is Plagued launched the attack, hitting the new Marines, though humanity's forces were nowhere near the number they had been earlier.

Shortly thereafter, having eliminated all remaining Marines, His name is Rage's once-proud natural laid in ruin, as the insectazoids marched into his main, spitting ooze on stuff. With no expansions left, we can see where this is going, so I'm just gonna type about the scene.

That's great, it starts with an hy-dra, drones and
zerg, a marine and Mr. T is not afraid.

It's the end of the game, as we know it...
It's the end of the game, as we know it...
It's the end of the game, as we know it... and I feel fine...

Towards the end, everything lagged way down, way way down. As a result, the usually joyful occasion of watching a person's base being burned was tarnished, and I patiently waited for the lag to settle. Eventually, this escalated into the dreaded "Drop Players" screen. When all was said and done, His name is Plagued dropped His name is Rage, sealing his fate once and for all.

And thus the scores...

I did well.

And now, my favorite part of the report, where I do something dramatic to raise my score a point, thus making up for an otherwise mediocre report. Here goes nothing......

Who else thinks he's the sexiest man of all time... from a strictly platonic point of view, of course.

Whew! That takes a lot out of a writer.

See ya next time =)

that's me!

OH SHIT! I forgot about Hitler and Mr. T.... Just disregard that.
