Without further ado, "THE GHOST EXPERIMENT"
Gustave was an engineer. Not any lowly engineer, but the chief engineer that worked on the still-yet-classified Ghost weaponry. He knew all the specs involved, the exact power and range of each weapon, and the battery time of a cloaking field.
Still, even though he knew everything about what a Ghost carried and equipped, he knew jack sh*t about Ghosts themselves. Ghosts were allegedly highly psionic humans who were recruited at an early age, Kerrigan being an infamous example.
Gustave had his doubts. He once saw a holo clip of a battle inside a Science Vessel, the legendary one that Kerrigan broke into. A special operations team had been dispatched to eliminate the vessel with a small nuke, consisting of a few elite marines and a Ghost. Gustave had replayed the tape a dozen times, focusing on the Ghost. The Ghost showed no psionic abilities, not even detecting the hordes of Zerg that lay just around the corner.
When the Zerg attacked, the Ghost did nothing but shake in fear. Fortunately for the Dominion, he completed his mission by prematurely detonating the bomb.

The more Gustave observed the Ghost's activities, the more he became sure that most Ghosts had little or no psionic ability. For on the battlefield, no Terran Commander had ever taken advantage of a Ghost's supposed psionics. For example, they never used Ghosts to try to read the minds of other enemy Terran Commanders, Cerebrates, or even Protoss Executors. In Gustave's opinion, all that a Ghost could do, ie, lockdown, cloak, and guide nukes, could be done by a medic with a gun.
However, there was one report of an insane commander vanquishing an enemy with 32-36 Ghosts. The Ghosts that he used must have some latent psychic abilities, or he would have been killed.

Finally, Gustave decided to take matters into his own hands. After all, he was chief engineer of the Ghost program, and he had a right to know the truth hidden behind layers of security. Since he was quite a powerful specimen of a human, he theorized that he might be able to pull off an impersonation of a Ghost.
He fashioned specially modified Ghost equipment, using top secret materials taken straight from the labs, fashioning a powerful combat suit that would greatly augment his already considerable physical prowess. He made a helmet that could filter out most harmful psionic intrusions, making it impossible to all but the most powertul Templar to read his mind. In replica tests, the suit stood up to a full psionic storm. He also gave himseld a bigger gun, more lockdown ammo, and finally a super battery pack that allowed him to cloak continuously for almost one and a half hours.
At last, after 4 weeks of preparation in utmost secrecy, he finally finished his Ghost suit. Using his position as Chief Engineer, with a clearance of Alpha Four (Alpha Zero was Mengsk, One through Three were the Directors of Psionics, Air forces, and Ground pounders respectively), he easily sliced into the Ghost Mainframe and made a new identity, Gus (he wasn't very inventive), and gave himself a Coporal Rank with sixteen battle patches and 5 nuke patches.
He patched himself into a new mission, took an extended leave, and prepared for his personal grand experiment.
